  1. I was talking with Bill Spencer(spencer1984) today and he also mentioned using the same AMT Scout kit and cutting the engine in half. I bought the sale brochure you gave me the link to above. I'll scan the drawings and scale them to 1/25 and they'll be a perfect blueprint. I'll have to locate the front I-beam axle. I think this will be a fun build. I like scratch building. The truck from the TV show in the pictures I posted above is actually a few different trucks that were used. My favorite look is the 1st picture with the round rear wheel openings, no red light on top and the higher black refrigeration unit on the roof. It also has the squared off front windshield(s) in all 4 corners which will be easier to do. The real truck in the auction link I provided above is the version of this truck I want to make. I saved the pictures for reference. Mike.
  2. Thanks for finding this. It's almost like having a blueprint. You're right this should be hard at all to scratch build. BTW do you have an idea of what I could use for the engine, rearend, front axle...? I found this auction with some good pictures of a real truck. http://www.ebay.com/itm/International-Harvester-Other-Right-Hand-Drive-/111933435292?forcerrptr=true&hash=item1a0fc0ad9c:g:IWgAAOSwZ8ZW43R-&item=111933435292 Mike.
  3. Thanks for the information Bill! If only I could find this in a 1/24 or 1/25 scale model kit??? Mike.
  4. Back in 1985 there was a short lived TV show called the Misfits Of Science. The main characters drove an Ice Cream truck. Does anyone know what make and model this truck is? I attached some pictures. Is it a Grumman? Does a model kit exist of this make and model truck?
  5. Very well done Jordan! BTW what paint/color did you paint the body?
  6. Excellent job Tim! I like the color combination. This generation of Ford vans has always been my favorite.
  7. It looks nice but the pictures are too dark. You should post some under better lighting.
  8. I put up a want ad for some parts and Badluck 13(Mike) sent me the parts I needed. He's a nice guy to deal with.
  9. Sounds good Jim! What color will you be painting the body?
  10. Terry, WOW, beautiful job on both of these builds. I didn't think much of the MPC Snap GL kits until I saw this thread. It's actually a nice looking kit. I may have to pick one up soon. I really like your 'alter ego' General Lee and like the color you chose. BTW, what piant/color(orange) did you use on the original General Lee? What wheels/tires did you use on your 'alter ego' General Lee? Mike.
  11. Jim, I'll be following this build closely! I'm curious how you will make the factory 69 Charger seats. I have one of these kits that I plan on making some improvements on to build it closer to factory stock. I'm not sure I'll get rid of the NASCAR front suspension but do plan on building an engine bay. BTW, will you be fixing the front fender openings to make it appear like a stock 69 Charger? What tires will you be using? The tires in this kit are very large. Mike.
  12. Incredible paint job!
  13. Thanks again Ken for the information and great advice! Mike.
  14. This one came out very nice! It's nice to see some General Lee builds again. I have an MPC General Lee I've been building with a lot of modifications. Maybe I'll start a build thread soon.
  15. Kenny, Is the Model Master Gloss Black from the Custom Lacquer System line of paints? I see Testors has gloss black lacquer in both a spray can and jar? Did you use Testors Model Master Ultra Gloss Clearcoat or Wet Look Clear? Is the Hugger Orange Camaro also painted with Testors paint?
  16. Beautiful job on both of these Camaros! They look so real and the paint is flawless. What paint did you use on these?
  17. Thanks Jay!
  18. It would be great if Round 2 could get an original 1968/69/70 MPC Charger Annual and have it scanned to re-create tooling for new releases of the annuals. The current General Lee kits' body is starting to break down. There are a couple of areas missing plastic, i.e. - around the passenger side fender wheel opening and the front top of the driver side fender. In addition the details on the body aren't as sharp anymore not to mention the door scoops aren't correct. The rear window was 'fixed' back when ERTL owned MPC for the Fast And The Furious release, however it's not correct. The rear window is too small and basically a rectangle. It should be larger and curved at the top. If you put the MPC Dukes Charger next to a Revell 69 Charger the rear window really looks badly shaped. The 68/69/70 body in the original annual kits was far superior and in some ways even nicer than the Revell 69/69 Chargers.
  19. Excellent job Tom! The chassis looks fantastic!
  20. Beautiful build Tyrone! Red is my favorite color for a 66 Chevelle. Nice touch with the overspray on the chassis. BTW, were the chassis rails on 66 Chevelles black like this or is that an added touch? Mike.
  21. I'm definitely not putting any clear coat over the BMF. This is my first time using it so I wanted to know what was the best method. I have Bare Metal Foil I picked up a couple of years ago. I have it stored in the refrigerator since I read that was good for preserving the adhesive. The question I have is: How sticky or rather how durable should the BMF be when it's applied? Should it be nearly impossible to remove? Or as long as it sticks it's OK? I'm hoping to be able to use what I already have. I applied some on an interior part and it seems OK although I had to re do a part that didn't stick as well. I touched the adhesive side too long on that piece and some of the adhesion went away. The rest of the pieces seemed to stick very well.
  22. Very nicely done! BTW, what color did you paint the body?
  23. I actually used the Micro Sol so I'll let it sit for at least a week before I clear coat.
  24. Which decal setting solution/solvent is safest to use on lacquer? I have Walthers Solvaset, MicroScale Micro Sol and MicroScale Micro Set.
