  1. Maybe rally some interest in a community Paul Walker tribute build? Sort of like a way for car guys to pay tribute to a car guy. And I am not too familiar with the racing career of Roger Rodas but, for anyone that is, maybe build some of his rides as well. EDIT Didn't know one was already in progress http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=82270
  2. Actually, after I left the forum last night, my wife informed me that there was information released that indicated straight skid marks into the pole and a trail of power steering fluid. If Roger had been able to steer the car, then obviously the skid marks would swerve away from the pole. Also, a source "close to AE" says the car had continuous power steering issues. It was rarely driven but, often leaked on the shop floor. Another report indicates there was a bang seconds before the bang of the impact. But, of coarse, this is not the full and official story as of yet.
  3. That color really brings out all that chrome. It may be a test shot but, it's lookin' really sharp.
  4. Tom, pretty scary we both had the same idea. I was perusing for this kit today and I just now saw this.
  5. Oh I'm pretty sure they did a couple things to show off considering it was in a business park and it was probably closed on a Saturday. But I haven't noticed anything that would contradict the elimination of racing causing the incident. Being a professional driver and all, you would thing Rodas would do a couple burnouts and donuts but, be cautious in an area he may not be familiar with. They certainly wouldn't be imitating the F&F scene that introduced Brian O'Connor and his green Eclipse outside the closed stadium or anything.
  6. Wut? Does he even have a car? Last car I saw him in was when he took Harold and Kumar's Camry, Accord, or whatever on a joyride. My guess is, since Tyrese played Brian's childhood friend, he will end up stepping up to the plate. But I prefer not to worry about that right now. I'm just a car guy wandering what happened to two other car guys. I'll worry about the continuation of F&F secondarily.
  7. OK, more news in from NBC nightly news. Aparantly, street racing is no longer being considered at this time. They say this was a 45 mile an hour zone that quickly becomes a 15 mile per hour zone with a sharp curve.
  8. Yeah, a minute and five seconds to be exact. I remember my buddy owning a car audio shop and flat refused to sell me one. He knew my audio tastes quite well. But yeah cool piece. Where did you get it btw?
  9. One of their friends said that Ron just wanted Paul to go for a ride in the car and they went for, what was supposed to be, a short ride around the block. No streetrace. Although, being a race car driver and an actor who's a car guy and known for fast cars as the passengers, that's probably how the rumor started "on the street". Also, I have been doing some research. Initial research was coming up with sticky accelerators, which turned out to be not true. From what I have come to understand, this was a six owner car and was currently owned by AE (Always Evolving). For those that do not know, AE is the performance shop owned by Roger Rodas, driver of the Porsche in the terrible tradgedy, and Paul Walker. The popular believe on this particular model Porsche is that is handles very strangely, unlike anything else. Even expert drivers have issues with it. Considering six owners and a professional driver crashed in it, this would explain things. We have someone that used to be a detective or something that used to investigate things like this. Who was it, Dano? Whoever it is, I'd sure like to get his input as well as the input of an expert on that particular car. I'm still curious how the thing burst into flames.
  10. Turning out real good. The SAS Bazooka tube in the trunk is a nice touch. I haven't seen a real one in years.
  11. Nice clean build of this kit. In that engine bay alone, you've done away with the low detail factor and made it shine more like the Revell version.
  12. The color combo is a real throw back to this car's day. It looks really good. Great Job!
  13. That is not a bad word. T.L. Crapper is often associated with innovation of the modern day toilet. One of it's original names was "The Crapper", named after him. You boys got your minds in the gutter. On topic, If the OP got one of these at 35, then they are almost three years late inviting me. I just may have to decline their offer...if it ever gets here.
  14. Glad to see you back! I hate to hear about all of your losses. But I am certainly glad to hear about the part where you have been finding yourself. Can't wait to see you back at the bench. Your work in phenomenal!
  15. I truely wanted this to be a hoax. In fact, I discovered there was aparantly a hoax about a week ago indicating he was dead then. My wife kept telling me it was coming from TMZ. The local news channel reTweeted TMZ and then followed up by saying he was still alive and that they would never reTweet TMZ again. I told her to just calm down and we would turn it over to the news channels and see. Sure enough, there it was on Fox News. And I must say, it was a very dirty thing they did. They showed about a 20-30 spot on it, then cut to this scene with Porsches and other European cars talking about criminals in politics. Real suave editing on some jerk's part. NEWS FLASH TO FOX. Be more respectful, the guy was killed in a Porsche! From everything I have ever heard, he was an ordinary guy who just happened to have an extraordinary life. He was an established actor, respected business owner, and, most importantly, involved humanitarian. The first couple Fast and Furious movies were a partial inspiration for me to get deeply involved in car shows and car clubs. I will always associate that with Paul Walker. Although they will probably never see this, my thoughts and prayers go out to his family fans, and friends.
  16. Indeed. However, I can't remember if he turned into a Camaro in this one due to the contract with General Motors or licensing issues in getting VW to allow the Beetle ended up in the Camaro deal. And everyone keep in mind, this is the 2014 CONCEPT not the street car...which looks, and moves a lot smoother. Just like the first movie having a Saleen built (Yes, you read that right) GTO with a Camaro body and interior placed over it.
  17. Yeah, Im interested in how this is going to play out.
  18. You can purchase a Mohu Leaf, or other brand of antenna and get all of your locals in HD for free...depending of broadcast strength. All the local news you want...and actually get some decent programs sometimes.
  19. I fourth Monster Garage. Or heck, let's see a program that shows all of Jesse James skills. He may be morally bankrupt but, he was blessed with an incredible set of hands for fabricating.
  20. Absolutely incredible! Looks terrific with that ground hugging stance!
  21. Oh I've missed my internet working properly. Looking good so far Adam. And as far as the blue engine thing. I actually do think I remember both my mom and dad having blue engines if my memory serves right.
  22. When I paint black trim, I lay down some masking tape as an edge so I don't paint over onto the body color. Maybe use this same trick so the extra foil just comes right up with the tape? I also find that if the masking tape has too much adhesive, I can stick it to a flat surface and pull it off to rid it of some the stickiness. PS If we start getting some good suggestions, maybe we should put this in the questions section.
  23. We are suppsed to get 3-8" this evening. Good time to work at home. Sit down at the desk, get some hot chocolate, and watch the snow out the window.
  24. I always knew Kmart was higher but dang!
  25. Oops. Musta got flushed with everything else. Sorry man. You can always click the avatar and then hit send message if you need. But I'm tellin' ya, he's the man that can tell you all about it.
