  1. I absolutely love these kits...and I actually think there is a bed dancer version of this kit. There's always a good excuse to build another one of these.
  2. Thanks for that detailed answer Gerry. The tranny and the intake tubes aren't that big of an issue at this point. I just need to get the coil pack shrouds and the intake correct at this point. I am pretty sure I have the correct, or very similar, intake somewhere. So, if I do, I think the Vette kit will do very nicely. If not, I guess I'll be buying both.
  3. Matthijs, do you know if the Corvette has a better LS1 than the Camaro/Firebird kits? I am trying to replicate, as close as I can, the LS1 in Paul Walker's 67 Nova built by Year One's Ghostworks. EDIT: After the suggestion of Matthijs, I hit the bay to check for kits. It turns up that I would probably be best using the Revell 98 Corvette Roadster kit (which is kind of a let down considering I used to have this kit and it got demolished). Thanks for the replies Ben and Matthijs.
  4. Title pretty much sums it up. I would just like to know if anyone has an idea which kit or kits (not resin, packaged kits like Revell or Round 2) has/have the best LS1 from the 1998ish 1:1 era. Only thing I can think of is a Camaro or Firebird kit but, which ones and are these the best/only option?
  5. Get some Elmer's clear school glue for your windows. It dries clear and if you use too much, you can remove it easily. Plus it's extremely cheap insurance against destroyed windows.
  6. Looks pretty sweet for a first...heck even tenth attempt. Hopefully, you will put the current build in the "on the workbench" section and show it off as you go. Not only does everyone get to see your work but, it will give you a chance to ask questions along the way.
  7. I'm really late to the party on this one...but pics I mostly don't have. 08 Malibu LTZ-Daily Driver 03 Cavalier-Beater 87 S10 Blazer-Project 08 Equinox-Wife's Vehicle 98 S10-Show Truck (My Avatar)
  8. Before going to any extremes like the pond on this one...try cleaning it up with some Scratch X. I had some bleed through with purple lacquer on pearl white laquor and cleaned up the extra purple by rubbing it out. It was One Shot but, it was still lacquer.
  9. Hate to hear about your injury. I had my first hobby injury while I still lived at home. I was cutting the top off of a Camaro with a Testors hobby knife when it slipped and sliced about a half inch down the skin on the side of my thumb...had a few stiches. Soon after, my dad purchased me a hobby kit with two different size Xacto handles, a plethera of #11 and other blades, a miter box, and a hobby saw. Needless to say, I never tried cutting off a top again without a saw.
  10. Glad to see you get out of a bad situation. Hey, if you are in Tampa you're somewhere near CrazyJim from the forum and Thomas from AcrophobiA. And if you're into into model cars and mini trucks, they are two cool people to know, especially if you are trying to make a fresh start.
  11. This thing looks cool so far. I dunno how low you plan on going but, I actually drilled through the frame on mine and made spindles from round sprue to lay it down. Here's a pic during decaling. Jake, that's what's awesome...everyone has different opinions. I always think a truck that's laid out looks cool parked under the same kind of truck customized and lifted.
  12. The pancake looks like a baret. Prince sung "Raspberry Baret". There is a picture of a Rocket Bunny. Ooh, I know this one...It's a raspberry painted Toyota with a body kit! Oh wait, guess that's a different game. Anyway, I don't think I ever got one of those right but, now that I think about it, I think I know how people got them instantly as well.
  13. That looks exactly like an Hombre with a Chevy insert in the grille. I'd love to have an Hombre bed for my truck for the fat fenders.
  14. As I said, educational. I never knew that pre 83 Foxbodied Mustangs didn't have blue oval Ford badges anywhere. Since I was not familiar with that fact, and I am not exactly the best authority on Mustang accuracy, I was thinking maybe this was possibly a Mercury Capri thing. So, I was thinking Capri hood on an otherwise pure Mustang. Thank you Robert for the clarification and new information. Well, new to me. Here's an oval hood ornament
  15. Just for educational purposes, I was wandering about the badge on the hood. If this car is all Ford, then why is the hood badge round instead of oval. Not dissing your taste or opinion of this car, I was just curious. Edit, nevermind...saw the ebay car and realized its a round black badge with a silver Mustang horse in it. I guess I've learned something today.
  16. Voted....looks better than a lot of two doors I have seen. Heck, I had to look twice to make sure it was a four door!
  17. Not only does it look dang good. But it's also one of very few I have seen with the front bumper this straight!
  18. yeah the gto was called scorpion csnt wait to see this start looking like matt trackers camaro
  19. Got my first kit for Christmas too. I'd been looking for it in Hobby Lobby to pick one up myself, then I realized they must not carry it because of the number on the quarter panels. Anyway, mine had two Racemaster tires. However, it looked like a two year old picked them off the tire tree. Oh well, not gonna use em anyway.
  20. What about the Monogram S10/Revell GMC Syclone kits? Don't they have a 700R4 Transmission in them? I know a 700R4 works with a SBC in 1:1. Edit: Also, I am pretty sure I have the engine and trans from the Revel 69 Nova as well...I'll have to look in engine parts bin.
  21. Being that we have industry insiders that are members of and visitors of this and other forums, you would think that all the major companies would figure out that a majority of today's builders prefer their non-snap kits in plain white. Then again...maybe they know something we don't.
  22. Yeah, I think I am going to degrease it,clean it in soapy water, and then hit with a good coat of primer before doing anything. I don't wanna get too deep into it before finding out the plastic is possibly junk.
  23. It looks like it works the same as a simple bottle of embossing powder or that flocking powder to me. Want it half price, or even 40% off, go to AC Moore, Michaels, or Hobby Lobby with a coupon...problem solved real quick. Embossing powder isn't fuzzy but, that flocking sold at Michaels is because it's flocking but, ground finer like embossing powder.
  24. Not sure if you are willing to go this route but, you could just get a smaller set of TT2's and sleeve them. Of coarse, you're probably not looking to lose any length on the spokes. But if you just happen to be willing to lose just a tad, it may be a viable option.
  25. OK, so I just opened my first "Grumpy's Toy" 66 Nova. When I got the kit in good light, the plastic was a funky yellowish white color. It looked like it was tar stained by sitting next to the ashtray of a chain smoker for six months. Is this the normal color of the kit or is there something wrong with mine. I figured I would ask before I started building it.
