  1. Did anyone stop to think how good of a thing this really might be in the long run? After the entire forum went crazy over the Fox body coupe roofline debacle, maybe Ford thought they better throw their hat in to make sure Revell doesn't mess this one up too. Also, yeah, marketing or not, the side affect is giving the children the joy of something they made with their own hands and can be proud of. I saw something on here a few months ago where people were commenting on not caring if the hobby died out after they are gone. Opinions are opinions and this is America so, it is what it is. But my opinion is that it is a wonderful opportunity when you can pass the hobby down to kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, a neighbor kid, or whatever. If you introduce a child to model cars, they will always remember that. And it's a fond memory that I am glad my daughter will have when I am dead and gone. If passing the hobby down through generations means fond memories, let's keep the ball rollin'.
  2. I don't have Facebook but, if someone in agreeance could talk them into pulling out the 94-97 S10 SS kit, adding 98+ mirrors, chrome grille, bumper, dash, door panels, and bench seat or bucket seats for a 2 or 3 in 1 kit...that would be great. Or even throw in a corrected REAL Xtreme front bumper for even more options. The classics will always sell but, let em put that out with all those parts in one box, even at a little higher rate, and watch them fly off the shelves. That would open up the door for the Blazer kit update with Xtreme options (wheels from "Xtreme" kit that's really a "Hugger") and an updated 4WD kit as well. Heck, don't even chrome the grille, just make one extra parts tree with it all. Sorry guys, I know that a lot of older kits are in need of reruns and many just need modded for correctons but, the modern truck sector is lacking something awful right now. OK, my rambling is done.
  3. I've built the Skyline. It's a nice build but, the instructions are horrible in any language. Be careful not to leave that suicide hood hinge out...it's a pain to go back and add.
  4. That red really makes the truck come to life. IMHO, I like these square bodied Lightnings the best. (I really miss when pretty much all trucks were square bodied.) They looked like your average joe decided to get creative with his work horse and built something special. Yeah, I'm a Chevy guy but, the orignal Lightning was a cool concept.
  5. Thanks Carl, very kind and true words. I got the box sitting under my desk now. Just trying to decide what to do next. I'm still hating this stupid roll pan. It's really period correct for the style they aimed for with this kit...which ain't sayin' much. I'd give anything if they had also put stock bed rocker panels in the box. But I think my best route is to go ahead and pan out my rear suspension so I know what Im going to do with my exhaust, air tank, and compressor first.
  6. Bumping so I can find this quickly. I may get the chance to work on it this weekend or week coming and want to have it at hand to update.
  7. That's pretty nice. I'll drag mine out soon. I found an old bottle of Testors gold for my bowtie the other day.
  8. That's a pretty cool wide F-body! I like it a lot!
  9. Carl, if a person knows how to do it just right, I find it amazing what all you can do with that stuff. And from the looks of your models, obviously, you know how to manipulate it quite well. On topic Ashley, do you have a straight on shot of that front end painted? It looks pretty good from what I can see from the side.
  10. Great weathering. If you had put those rusted parts out in some grass and took pictures. They would have looked like 1:1s abandoned in an overgrown field.
  11. I started to say something really funny there but, I remembered we are a family friendly forum.
  12. That's just cool...I remember when model cars were just simple blocks of wood. with a couple nails for axles and some lead heated and poured in the bodies. I really like the black Ecto done up as a phantom hearse like you would see in a "Cars" movie.
  13. Pretty sure the option was eliminated when the forum got crashed and had to be redone last time. However, there are lenses that you can get to mount to the front of your monitor to solve this. I'm sure it would help you with many other sites as well.
  14. This thing is pretty sick! If it were 1:1, I'd love to watch it run but, wouldn't dare get behind the steering wheel!
  15. Very cool idea here! And it looks like all it would take is a little sheet plastic to turn the back of that NASCAR truck chassis into a smoothed bed floor with a full width, smoothed, notch cover.
  16. That's definitely something unique to give it character. I guess I assumed the driver side wasn't shaved since I saw it on the passenger side.
  17. Don't use a hammer. Although, I did chuckle a little when I read that. It sounds like something I'd do sometimes.
  18. Putting it in warm water shouldn't affect the paint job if it's not acrylic. I don't even know if it will affect acrylics cause I dont use them. Every single one of these tri five kits (55 bel air, twice 56 nomad and 57 bel air) I have built had the same exact issue.
  19. The real wheels do look a little forward but, the bed looks like it has some room to move forward too so, i think it might balance out. Everything looks great...fantastic even. But I do have a question. I thought the 52 was going to have the vents in front of the doors eliminated?
  20. Geez. You should kill this thing the 49 Merc Killer! Absolutely incredible!
  21. Man, I wouldn't complain about just 20. You put out the quality and quantity at the same time without sacrificing either. I'd like to have a few of those sitting on my shelves.
  22. Is Barrett Jackson televised now that there is no speed channel? I haven't seen any advertisements for it on tv in quite a while. Then again, I could be missing them because my wife watches junk like The Bachelor and Dance Moms constantly.
  23. I really like the look of this wagon and what you are doing with it. I can't wait to pick one of these up. We try to go to Myrtle Beach every year. I hope you realize your dream of moving there. It's certainly one of the most family friendly beaches on the east coast. Plus they have a hobby shop, a Michael's, and a Hobby Lobby...all three within just a few miles of the beach!
