  1. thanks for all of the comments guys, I really appretiate it. - The Main reason I got out of building, was to do with the only local contest we had(no longer due to the same issues i did not like) and the same people winning every year, without even trying, bringing the same stuff, beating full blown customs with snap tite kits. there was a special clique in the club who judged, and they were all sure to get an award. now that I am back, and thanks to Rollinoldskool, Minidreams, and a few others who have inspired me alot, I build for myself, and myself only. I could care less about the contest aspect of it.
  2. you seems fairly proud of that, guess I shouldnt mess with your "clique". If im going to be thrown overboard for voicing my opinions, I am probly better off not posting here. Im done posting in this topic for now, no point argueing with someone who knows it all, over model cars... after all at the end of the day I have much more important things to do, modelling is JUST a hobby. now please, give yourself another pat on the back, and thanks for comming out.
  3. well thanks mark for clearing it up, I guess you were right about EVERYTHING all along I appreciate you using your "eloquent" vocabulary to sum of the history of model forums, and why myself and rollin are wrong and racist.lol A`s in grammar/public speach/drama, etc. sounds like a fun time. I spent my time in the shop building/racing(on a local track of course) real cars, guess I missed out on the fun stuff. Please do take a bow, george seems fairly impressed.
  4. here is my second build after returning to the hobby ( see 67 impala p*nty raid topic) 1 year ago. I started with the AMT 76 caprice kit, layed down some HOK lime-time shimrin pearl, then hit it with HOK lime-gold kandy. and 5 even shots of dupont premier chroma-clear. wheels are pegasus 19inch T`s. I built this one curbside as the jood was warped badly.
  5. Ive been here for a while now, and it just hit me that Ive ever posted a completed build here. Therefor I will start with my favorite, a 67 impala lowrider. It is made to look locked up in the rear, and nose down. The body was shot with House of Kolor Orion silver, then HOK hot pink kandy was sprayed. followed by 5 even coats of Dupont Premier Chroma-clear, wetsanded between each coat. Then polished out with tamiya finishing polish. wheels are pegasus 1109`s, exhaust is all hand foiled as is the tank. Frame was sprayed Orion silver, and misted with pink candy from the sides to give the present effect. also this was my first build after a 7 year Hiatus...im 21 now. enjoy:
  6. x2 nice work!
  7. I tell ya, I just scored 6 Johan hearses,....sealed. couple flatbox heavenly hearses. a rectangle box, a gold cup flat box ambulance, and hearse....... most will be opened and built. As far as im concerned, most people who plan to leave a kit sealed (aside from emotional value, such as Bill replied- the one kit was same as the first he ever built) is that they are concerned about value at a later date. would I ever spend 220.00 on a model..... no, but I comend you for being able to and on top of that, being able to build it. The most I have payed for a single kit(not even a full kit) was a shade over 100.00. But there are less than 50 originals cast (resin cadillac big body hearse). am I building it?..... go check the workbench section
  8. .....um what? I think that RO`s point was missed. Some people on here seem to only look at what they want to, and are ignorant to other types of builds. You yourself said that you dislike slot cars, so you dont look at them. I myself Log into the site , and go through all of the topics at least once a week. If I am just in a hurry then I will go directly to the prominent forums- Under glass/on the bench/swap trade or free...... ooh and btw I build mostly lowriders/ muscle cars and the odd vintage stock car, or vintage racer.(roughly 1.5 % of my total builds) what he is saying is that you want to break it a down into sections with subsections... might-aswell go further... some people here act like they are above everyone and are the authority on model cars. I hate the know it all atittude from some people.
  9. tamiya transparent yellow and transparent orange, mix 60/40 yellow/orange.
  10. Generally I open all of my kits when I get them, just to see what they are like, and then make a list of what I want to do with them, put it in the box, then put it in the closet with the rest. The only time I will open a RARE kit, is if i have at least 1 more to keep sealed. the only sealed kits i have are: jo-han haulin hearse jo-han heavenly hearse jo-han original release gold cup hearse. . . . .
  11. Heres the latest subject on my bench, a resin big body Cadillac hearse, It arrived molded in 1 piece. First steps were to remove the hood, and rear door. I will try to update on this one, but it will take a while. Here is the start: here the hood was removed here the rear door was removed
  12. wrong again! venture over to the layitlow model forum. the whole rear roof section of the blazer was cut off and corrected. check the topic "twinns for sale thread" none of his stuff is a direct copy, things were corrected, and changed.
  13. thats gonna be alot of work!.... think Johan hearse, lol thanks to everyone for the advice! I cant for my paint to get here, so I can try it out. I had also thought of decanting it and spraying it through my airbrush, but mabey I will just use the cans and see what I get. thanks, Mike
  14. I have some of the new Testors one coat paint on the way (as i cant get it here) and am wondering if I can clear it with a Multi part urethane clear? I have been using Dupont Premier Chroma-clear over all my House of Kolor stuff (not walmart brand) and I just want to make sure it doesnt wrinkle up or wreck. also- what can I use for a primer with that stuff? -amnd finnaly, does anyone have a photo of what the green looks like? any help is very much appretiated. thanks, Mike
  15. TO CLARIFY; These are not copy cats, but works with many many hours put into them. The 4 door big bodys started out as all american LIMOS, and were cut and made into 4 doors. and then cast, then the 2 doors were made from them. These were mastered by TWINN on the layitlow.com models forum. ALSO- these are considerably less than AAM resin big bodies, AAM go for upwards of 300-500.00. The casters of these are commig very close to the cost of making them, when you factor in the mold material, resin material etc. AND they are as clean, if not cleaner than AAM. The only reason these are up for sale on "feebay" is so that people outside of the forum in which the master`er/caster is most prominent have an opportunity to get them.
  16. excellent build! I Love the color, it suits the car very well. as for a name.... how about "slug"?
  17. looking good!! I am not really a fan of this type of racer, but I did get a chance to meet alex zanardi about 8 years ago, got my picture taken with the car, shook hands etc, it was a very cool experience.
  18. try testors one coat laquer white. its a very nice pearl. checkout the thread in this topic... spoon test.

  22. Hey all, I havent been on here for a while. I came on today and noticed that when you click on a topic, you cannot see the replies;Instead you have to click each reply individually. Is this something that can be changed within my controls? or is it all across the board, I find it somewhat of a pain to keep clicking and hitting back, etc. to view replies. just wondering. thanks, Mike
