  1. this will be a longterm project too..... but not as long term as the one in my garage. my 64, my buddies 60*
  2. need opinions, please. since im doing a new style cruiser with this old johan kit.... new 20"s and an air setup. should i leave the interior stock looking: or cut it up and do a new leather style interior (of course i would use the matching buckets, but rework whem so they dont look like racing seats.
  3. Ive only been to a few local contests, but from what Ive seen..... generaly the guys who put the work in, the extra detail, etc. win... the guys who dont, usually complain aboutit bein biased, or unfair.... they conversly are the guys who dont add the detail, and go the extra way. I havent entered and contests, so I dont really care. Im just tired of people complaining cause they dont win. Build for yourself, and your enjoyment, not for others.
  4. kool, ill give it a go! I work slow, but ill work on it whenever I have time!
  5. see, the hobby shop tha I am talking about a bit further up^ still has kits from the early 90s (not good ones either) reason being they are 25.00-38.00 for a basic kit. Heck the 1/43 snap kits (theres a camaro, vette, etc. with skull stickers and such) he wants almost 20.00 each for. bringing in stuff that isnt in stock.... pegasus 1109 wire wheels for example. I pay 9.00 shipped from a buddy online. If I want the local guy to order me a set, if I pay the shipping, etc. my cost is 17.00. for one set, why not buy 2 sets from the guy online? best price I got frpom him was on a Paasche vl airbrush set.... no comp... just the basic set...179.00, I paid 59.99 plus 10.00 shipping from coast airbrush, so 110.00 cheaper than my local. its kind of a bummer to when you go in there, and the owner/operator (whom is the only employee) complains to you about how he hasnt made a sale all week, and how you should buy something.
  6. what style are you looking for? stock? drag, etc. particular year? I often find myself bored, and with a pencil scratching, and scribbling away. Ill give it a go!
  7. Our only hobby shop here is up for sale too...... I try to support the guy but why should I pay 28.00 for a cadillac "lowrider" kit that I can get online for 8.00, or get 4 from a buddy who has a big lots near him, shipped to me for under 28.00. I understand the "lets all support our local guys" to a certain extent, but when they are clearly out to scam you.... such as ours (and I understand that all shops arent like that) The guy here has basic 1:18 die casts for $95-$150 for the same ones you see at walmart for 18.00, testors paint is over 3.00 a glass jar (where as most places are $1.19. the new testors "one shot" laquer that is 5.00 everywhere.... he wants $13.00 a can for, flocking is 6.00 for a tube. I could go on and on..... but you get my point. Sorry to hear about your local shop, sounds like you had one of the good ones!
  8. I dunno about anyone else... but when I go to the carwash..... I spray under the car too. and i wash the (nice cars) twice a day... once on the way to work, and once either at lunch, or after work when I do a lap around the city. driving through puddles = a no no. when I sold my last Cadillac it was 15 years old, and looked failry new, from the body, to under the hood, and even the undercarriage. The people who bought it and took it to get looked over at their mechanics couldnt believe how clean it was. the one car wash by my house has a long wash wand, with a large bend in it, and another upwards bend at the end.... specifically for washing under the car. My 64 caddy is the same way.... clean all around , all the time
  9. well this one has been Sold! no more updates
  10. mid 70`s (4,5,6) datsun 100a?
  11. I did a mock up of the engine compartment, motor, etc. Im pretty happy with it, I think I achieved the clean, full show look I was tryin for. I also finished making the engine cover, turned out alright, I may re-foil it though.
  12. Thanks for all the kind words guys! much appretiated! almost ready for final assembly! its down to the chassis and Engine and its done!
  13. i can definatly dig that!!! great job. I need to get me some Dudek parts!!
  14. As most of you know by now, Im a cadillac nut! I love the Big bodies, the crisp lines, sharp edges.... and most of all.... the fins! here is a 64 deVille on my work bench right now. I dont have any photos at the moment, but i have a real 64 deVille 2dr hardtop, and a 64 deVille convertible. the convertible which is undergoing a full resto (by myself) anyways here is my take on this vintage kit. this kit started out as a solid body, with opening hood. I decided to open it all up. I started with the trunk, creating a weather striping and jamb then moved onto the doors next came the trunk it still needs lots of work.... but thats how it sits as of 10 minutes ago! enjoy! here is a shot of my 1:1 convertible project, beside my fathers 64 acadian beaumont sport deluxe convertible
  15. Rob, you have a private message. I can help you out with the seats
  16. great job!!
  17. yep! they are still makin em! my local hobby shop (only one within 2 hours) says he can get it for me.... for 65.00... hahaha I laughed my way out of there. same store that wants 38.00 for a impala ss kit, and 28.00 for a donk cadillac. 5.00 each for testors glass jar paints , and doesnt carry testors 1 shot laquer... but will bring it in for 13.00 a can. and he wonders why no one supports him. sure he has 15 year old monogram kits, and all kinds of stuff. but who wants to pay 25.00 for a 59 impala kit... or 89.00 for a basic 1:18 die cast? when you can get the same stuff online, shipped to your door for less?
  18. I find it disturbing; the amount of people who have such terrible grammar, and no use of punctuation! spelling..... dont even get me started! .... my next 90`d cadillac will be shades of purple with pearl patterns under kandy
  19. im gonna dig through the garage and find the 2 first issue flatbox hearses.... and open one.... just to see if someone cries, lol
  20. collector?.... im just cuttin kits and breakin hearts why do I do it... cause I have 14 of em, lol
  21. very nice!! I am a sucker for the "BIG" caddies!! I am building a real 64 deville convertible, and have a few plastic and resin ones on here in the "on the workbench section"
  22. I pulled this one back out. finished the foil work. and mocked it up. the end is near! its time to finish up a couple of these projects !! ( pay no attention to the wheels on the caddy vert in the back, I was messing with another member)
  23. I never did finish this one, but i got the body all done. did my gel pen work on the hood and trunk, all I did was outline the couple patterns, followed by some gold foil, and a few more generous coats of Dupont premier chroma clear. In the last coat I mixed in a little bit of murano blue pearl. It is hard to see it, but in the right light, it shimmers. I also painted the lips on some 1109`s Gold, as well as the knock offs
  24. mabey its just all of the " c r a p" disturbing you have done over at layitlow.com model forum? just a thought.

    68 Cadillac

My third Finished model of 08, a fairly rare Promo style kit TItled "Sunday Night $trip tease" (meaning if it were to cruise the strip, people would stop and look, with its nose up , and a** down.) I used a dark black/charcoal pearl, Detailed it with gold and chrome foil, which accent the hoppin hydros chrome spoked with gold lip and hex knock offs. lmk what you think
