Most likely...BUUUUUUT The '68 & '69 Coronet are the most demanded things EVAR if you listen to some people, and it's not like either of the MPC annual versions are ever going to be made again. Also what's the rush exactly? It's not like Revell's U.S. division is on any tight schedule, they've released a grand total of 3 models, one of which was a AG rebox, in 2020 (not considering running existing kits to restock distributors) with three more known ones in the pipeline. They managed to find the S-10 inserts (they haven't been run since 1999) in time to have the kit built up for promotional photos...the Monogram Super Bee was last run in 2009, and if nothing else they could have just used the old box art photo from it as a place holder.

*lights a dumpster fire of speculation* Ya know what's interesting there? The fact that the Super Bee is listed as 1/25 scale. Hobby Search has the scale correct on the S-10, which more than a few people I've talked to think is 1/24 because Monogram, even though the kit came out in 1993, well after Monogram started making 1/25 kits. They also have the scale correct on the '78 El Camino (which was also added along with the other expected kits from the last announcement) as 1/24. Also interesting is the lack of a photo of the model. The S-10 which some rumors had as destroyed or at least the stock parts lost hasn't been run for a lot longer than the last reissue of the Monogram Super Bee (which last saw action in 2009). Seemingly odd that Revell managed to test shot the molds on that kit and get one to the box art guys, but not a more recently run and presumably known condition Dodge. Last factoid, Hobby Search doesn't just go find a photo. If you don't supply an image to them, the pre-order would go up without one and a genetic "Coming Soon" shadow box. So someone supplied the photo of the real car to go with the listing. Go forth and speculate rampantly!

I doubt they expect you'd try to build it, it's more attempting to build a collectible's market for their product. You figure the average reissue run of kits is something like 3k. so there's only 250 or so of them molded in that see-through metallic orange. If you started collecting the "CtK" kits when they started in 2012 to build a full set over time, you'd need one, and depending on whether you have a LHS around - you might be willing to pay a little more than list price to secure one. Ooooorrr at least that's the theory Round2 would subscribe to in doing this gimmick. -
I dunno blaming the plastic has become a fan favorite for builders to blame when people's skills don't meet their expectations. I've seen people claim the plastic is too hard/brittle/too soft/every shade in between and usually universally "unpaintable" when RC2 moved production to Mexico, then to China, then when Round2 started leasing the tooling. Revell's plastic was also worthless and unpaintable when they moved their tooling/manufacturing contractor first to China, and then every move inside of China. It's any wonder any modeler has ever built a single model kit since 1998.

They're keeping the shelves stocked. But the road to getting back going with newer releases is a long and slow one. My point being was if Round2 evaporated tomorrow the entirety of Domestic Kit regular releases would be a monthly-ish Salvinos release. Moebius has put out 4 kits in 2020 with 2 more planned (3 if you count the reissue of the original Hudson). Revell still has 3 kits pending from the last release stuff they updated us on (GTX, '62 Impala & El Camino) but they're also at a handful of kits in 2020 with maybe a few more for the 4Q - One of which is most likely a re-box of the upcoming E-Type. Not complaining, and certainly the Rona is doing no favors to anyone, but HL's eggs are sorta stuck in a basket and in turn so are Round2's. I just sincerely hope we don't see another Wal*Mart affair where HL Corporate Purchasing starts dictating what kits get reissued/produced to the ownership of AMT.

First Look, NuNu Models, Audi A4 Touring Car
niteowl7710 replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'd guess USCP on that one, Misha has already committed to make a "civil" interior and M// parts for the upcoming E46 320i. Also I notice the question mark in your earlier post just now. The town all the manufacturers are in and hosts the big show is Shizouka. Suzuka is the famous race track that hosts F1, Moto GP, GT3 & Super GT events. -

No it's never existed beyond a page in a flyer they put out at the German Toy Faire back in 2019. It, along with a lot of other stuff, was supposed to be a Beemax kit - before their distribution deal with Aoshima self destructed. -
Well HL does need to buy SOMETHING given the continued plodding state of affairs with Revell these days. If it weren't for Round2 reissuing stuff on a monthly basis the Domestic kits would only be showing up a couple a Fiscal Quarter. Although if they are getting things sent directly to the warehouses in Oklahoma and then they're distributing them to their stores regardless of the "mass" release date, one does have to wonder if we're going to see history repeat itself with one major big box retailer dictating the market again.

They've done the "Catch the Kat" thing on probably a half dozen or more kits starting back with the Meyer Manx reissue where 1 per case (1 out of 12) was Translucent Metallic Purple. If you're shopping for one in person you should be able to "cheat the system" and see what color it's molded in by checking the runner map on the bottom. The past kits have called out that they were molded in the special color as opposed to White. -
That'd be a nifty trick seeing as how it hasn't been released yet. I'm guessing you saw the Lawman drag version or the Richard Petty NASCAR one, which is not what this kit is, it's a factory stock version with a 426 Commando and Slant 6. That one hasn't seen the light of day since Burkett paid for a private run back in 2006.

Alright so here's a good use of vintage box art on a not at all vintage - well not as vintage as it looks - kit. I have a couple of the Dodge 330s from when they were part of the Ollie's dump, but never a stock Plymouth. This is on the Distribution List for Late September.

International Prostar interior
niteowl7710 replied to Aerodyne03's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Moebius modeled the interiors after the absolute top of the line ProStar/LoneStar "truck show tour" trim levels.(there are several major trucking industry shows in the U.S. where the manufacturers display their latest and greatest products) I've personally never seen that sofa bed or flooring in a ProStar otherwise (and I've driven 6 of them), and the rose wood floor inlay was a rare option even on a Owner Operate Spec'd LoneStar (and I owned one of those). It all looks fancy, but trucking is a low margin industry, so you're not pulling out all the bells and whistles on a purchase unless you've got more money than sense or want a show truck. -
The only things Atlantis would have would be tooling that was located in Elk Grove at the time of the sale, less any tooling that was currently/recently in use (aka 1st Gen RX-7, Ramcharger, etc). Also nothing of what is located in China. The last reissue of THE H.H.O. was in 1998 which would put it right on the cusp of whether or not it got sent over, someone who has that last issue would be able to see where it was run that last time.

American 53'' trailers
niteowl7710 replied to Aerodyne03's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a Cascadia too, right now down in Pennsylvania diesel is $2.79/gal, and DEF is $2.99/gal. Only use a couple of gallons of DEF per day vs. 60 gal of diesel. -
American 53'' trailers
niteowl7710 replied to Aerodyne03's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The aero side skirts, or underside spoilers are a requirement for trailers entering California. As of 2012 any trailer operating with the state are required by the CARB (California Air Resources Board - they're the ones that came up with things like California Emissions, and keep forcing Tamiya to relabel their paint) to be equipped with aerodynamic devices such as cab fairings, side skirts, and trailer "tails" of sufficient design to garner a 5% increase in fuel economy. Which for the average semi would be an extra 1/3rd of a MPG (7.38 vs 7.0) or so depending on the brand and model of the truck. -
Revell to Repop the Will do wrecker !
niteowl7710 replied to Mr mopar's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
It was just a restock, it wasn't even a reissue and that happened a few months ago. -
Beyond Stevens running an online store, and a retail store in NJ, they're one of the three largest model kit distributors in the U.S. to "down stream" customers (think your local hobby shop). They have to have pre-order information well in advance so they can pass it down to their customers so they know what/when to order and expect kits so they can tell THEIR customers (you and I - well maybe not us top 1/10th of 1% forum people - but the regular guys who shop there) when that Chebby Wagon and Ford Drag set are going to be available.

American 53'' trailers
niteowl7710 replied to Aerodyne03's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No it has not been released yet, probably before the end of the year though since someone (sorry don't remember the channel) was building what looked like finalized test shots. It's down in the Big Rig Truck Basemen...err forum section. -
It was discussed at the time it was announced back in February. Should be out this Fall, oughta be interesting to see how they broke this kit down because the two "Easy-Click" tractors were full detail and pretty good models all things being equal. This VW is SnapTite, but comes within 10 parts of the new tool Jaguar E-Type glue kit...and that's also more parts than a few of the recent sports car models like the AMG GT and McLaren 570S.

Unless there's much stuff from the U.S. based Revell tooling that would be appealing to a wider automotive builder (considering all of the legacy Lindberg owned tooling they bought off Round2 recently didn't sound like it had much if any car/truck stuff in it) Atlantis is definitely plumbing the back end of the nostalgia market, along with people who like weird and wacky off scale stuff. Someone sitting at home going what I really wish I had was a 60yr old 1/126th airplane model. Which of course repeats the question I asked earlier when the sale of the Round2 stuff was announced. Are there enough customers still around/able to want some of this stuff. I have a certain sense of appreciation of the Atlantis folks that they want to be seen as stewards and caretakers of all of this historic tooling, but I also look at em a little funny because we're talking about stuff that Round2 - the professors of tugging old modelers heart strings - had that tooling and was all "Yeah, no, yeah, even we can't use it."

American 53'' trailers
niteowl7710 replied to Aerodyne03's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The aero tails were supposed to be good for fuel mileage, but the automatic nature of the deployment and stowage tend to fail within a few months of use and then require the driver to go back and manually deploy them. Which usually means they don't bother, or forget they are out and then promptly back into another truck, trailer or fixed object (or get backed into by another truck) and damage/destroy the "wings". My company bought a number to test and between equipment failures (if they get stuck open you can't open the trailer doors) and backing incidents we stripped them off all of the trailers that still had them left. -
Why the factor of 8 in scaling?
niteowl7710 replied to JollySipper's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The story goes Tamiya chose 1/35 for their armor because it was the size required to house the motor and batteries for motorizing them and it just sorta stuck. 1/72 is the go to scale for Japan in modern days as even 1/35 & 1/48 prove to be to large for substantial collections in the tiny apartments many urban residents call home.
