  1. Until Tamiya confirms one way or the other that they're doing or not doing a Sprint headlight setup version of the kit, I don't think you're going to find too many people to wild on the idea making something that might have a very short shelf life. A short term solution might be trying to do the substantial re-work of the Revell AMG GT headlights as they are the single projector beam type.
  2. They did buy Revell US in effect. They own all the tooling and the trademarks, the only thing they didn't buy was the people and property. It makes practical sense that Blitz wouldn't necessarily pack up all the U.S. molds and ship them to Germany, especially if there isn't easy access to molding machines that the old tooling would operate on in Poland. Plus having it all in one place will make it easier to inspect and inventory. But keep in mind most of Revell's tooling was in Hong Kong and they're not going to pack those up and ship them anywhere either. They'll still be contracting that production on-site as well.
  3. They still squeak out infinitesimal small change reissues - like the Molded in Yellow version of the LaFerrari they did in the Spring. The AMG GT3 is tooled in such a way that the wheels and headlight buckets are in a little "mini-sprue" that comes off the base of the main chassis runner. There's an identical cut out on the top end of that same runner, that would serve no practical purpose unless there's a matching "mini-sprue" that has the other headlight buckets and the specific wheels that the Super GT cars run... The AMG GT3 also has sold in a significantly greater volume than the Beemax NuNu Hobby/Platz BMW M6, and they're pushing out two more versions of that with tiny revision to make other versions for different race series.
  4. I'm still patiently waiting for a non-endurance version of the AMG GT3 kit, which I know will be a "pffft whatever" release to most of you, but other than the Studio27 2016 24hrs of Nurburgring liveries they've done, pretty much every other aftermarket livery set is for a car that uses the single projector beam headlight set-up, not the twin-beam endurance set the kit comes with - being the endurance set-up is really only used on 12/24hr races, and the well frankly the majority of Blancpain, IMSA/Weathertech, et al aren't. An Aperta would be interesting, and making an FXX-K Evo would be a minor retooling. Classic kit...hmm well there's only ever been one release of the 300 SL, I always thought we'd get a Roadster version of that.
  5. Well in his defense this board did bring him up pretty much monthly if not bi-weekly and belittle his business. Which no matter how much you disagree with it wasn't necessary, especially how often it happened. Why know earth would he be anything but "curt" with this place, when it pretty much never said a nice thing about him. Heck just look at the beginning of this thread, someone said "good riddance". Really what did he ever PERSONALLY do to anyone around here? Was someone forcing anyone to buy at his prices? He was clogging your search results...oh boo-hoo, how petty.
  6. So to update this thread all of the kits mentioned within that are tangible (eg not just 3D Prototypes or Rapid Print Design Concepts) have either been released, are about to be released, or at least have functional pre-orders with the exception of most of the Modeler's Resin stuff (the Camry has a pre-order available), the Beemax Lancia S4, and the Sprint Series BMW M6. Jonathan has already done the what's in the box for the Calsonic R31 GTS-R, but the street kit was released two weeks ago. The Hasegawa Mitsubishi was released Monday Also this morning we saw the global releases of the Beemax 935 K2 The Falken BMW M6 was just given an October Pre-Order, and will come with 3 livery choices. The Falken Demo livery, 2017 24hrs of Nurburgring Falken Racing, and 2017 VLN Series Falken Racing. Right around the corner is the Tokyo Model & Hobby Show in October - and kit pre-orders are up for most companies through October, so those new tools, tooling revisions, and whatnot should be leaking out within the next month or so in preparations for the show.
  7. Whatever paddles your canoe, but the Revell US rebox as the VW Rabbit that Ollie's blew out for $8 last year would have been the cheaper and easier to obtain base for that idea - than spending $35+ on this one.
  8. For anyone who happened to be interested in the modified re-tooling of this Golf GTi, this was released last week. There's an entire parts runner of new parts to "forward-date" the original GTi kit into a 1983 Pirelli Edition, which includes the wheels, front fascia and chin spoiler, rear fascia, front & rear bumpers, muffler and rear exhaust, along with the steering wheel & door panels - with new decals of course. Of course you'll have to go through Japan, or a European seller on eBay to obtain one.
  9. This one ('70 4x4) has been released, several places on eBay have it, and my LHS got theirs in yesterday.
  10. Blurb in the bottom right says Winter of 2018 release, so that'd be December. Although Fujimi hasn't exactly been speedy on the turn around on these "Next " Kits. They're molded in color, not pre-painted and come with a large sheet of mylar press and stick stuff for things like window trim and interior trim. Considering the FJ lived on in Japan until the 2017 model year, if expect this to be a strictly JDM RHD offering. There have been 4 Next Kits so far, 2 off old tooling and 2 new tools (this would make the 5th kit). A "current model" Fiat 500, their SnapTite R34 GT-R, the new Toyota Vellfire/Alphard van, and the new Suzuki Hustler/Mazda Flair Kei CUV. All of them eventually got packaged with a small sheet of water slides for emblems, gauges, and markings, so more experienced builders could build them out without being forced to use the stickers.
  11. I don't have any, but clearly this person who's "closely related" to the Revell Engineer who's been screwed over on his retirement and salary has a pile, I noticed one of the Baldwin Motion '70 Chevelle on eBay the other day.
  12. Obviously he got the Oldsmobile - which the thread for got flame war'd into oblivion. They haven't even cut the tooling on the Monte Carlo yet.
  13. So this morning they dropped this off... The Gr. A Rally Peugeot 306 Maxi. I forsee further goodness out of this as Peugeot also supplied a "GTi" version for Touring Car racing and aside from several National Touring Car Championships around the world the 306 GTi won the 1999 & 2000 24hrs of Spa. The last years of Touring Cars before FIA GT regs would take over. There's always more than 1 kit baked into any tooling they do, and we've seen the Touring/Rally split before with the BMW E30 M3. Speaking of baking in 3rd versions finally announced for September Pre-Order (and somewhat snuck under most people's radar because they have seen a Honda Civic JTCC car floating around now for awhile) is the EF9 version of said Civic. This receives almost entirely new front end pieces (bumper, glass, hood, etc) along with rear facia, exhaust and other bits to "forward-date" the EF3 kit to 1991 spec.
  14. Is that third image in the sequence right after you say "I'm going to build every model I buy!"?
  15. I have a pair on pre-order at HLJ myself to make a pair of Macau cars when Frankie gets those decals out next month. There's a few other schemes being worked on for it already as well for European series as well.
  16. Exactly, the Silverado was teamed with a Jetski.
  17. No shades of I have a bunch of test shots, and I bet I can sell them for something on eBay to collectors. JoHan employees were allegedly scrapping tooling inserts while the company was still in it's last days of operations. The only tooling that was still stateside by the time Hobbico closed was stuff they didn't think was economically feasible to send to Hong Kong. The Dodge Ramcharger is one of the more recent "Made in America" reissues, and that thing hadn't seen the light of days since the 1991 Gone Fishin' reissue.
  18. Group B Rally was very much over-the-top in every manner. Most of the entrants were 4WD and there were no power regulations so things like this Audi were incredibly lightweight cars with tremendous HP to weight ratios. The S1 was over 500HP on just over a ton of car that would go 0-60 in 3 seconds...in 1985. They needed all the spoilers and whatnot to try to generate enough downforce to keep the cars on the track, and ultimately the cars were too fast to be safely driven and a number of fatal accidents doomed Group B after only 2 1/2 seasons.
  19. Well considering in addition to the abrupt exit the company took when the sale when done, Hobbico owed most of the staff quite a bit of money from salaries and their ESOPs - so it's not exactly shocking that some of them would...err liquidate some of those not exactly for public consumption items they have of value.
  20. I've tried to search for a thread for any of these, and I've failed, so I assume it's not been discussed. By now the Opel Mantas have been out for a few months and Belkits has 3 more new tools in the offing. First up and the furthest along is a pair of 2017 Ford Focus WRC kits. They're at production shot test assembly phase, along with creating the instructions. Then we have the rest, for which information is just the drivers and/or rallies to be represented. You'll notice in this graphic there are two MORE tools (2 kits each) that are in the works as well, but licensing is pending. There's also Belkits 014 which is more than likely a modified reissue of an existing recent kit that is "pending licensing". The 2018 C3s will be the Mexico Rally return of Sébastien Loeb with Daniel Elena. The other will be the pairing of Kris Meeke / Paul Nagle. The Group B ALL THE THINGS release of the Austin-Rover Metro 6R4 will be for - Jimmy McRae - Ian Dundrod Lombard RAC Rally 1986 Malcolm Wilson / Nigel Harris Rallye Monte-Carlo 1986 If you have no idea what a 6R4 is, Rover built it specifically to compete in the then popular and ultimately short lived Group B class, it vaguely resembles the Metro compact car of the time, but was purpose built.
  21. This one has gone up on your finer Japanese direct import vendors, along with it's Detail Up set, for October release.
  22. Aoshima has finally rattled around to running off the next variant of this kit. Set for October release it's the Huayra Pacchetto Tempesta, which was a $100k+ aerodynamic upgrade package. The kit will get a new front bumper, rear defuser, and wheels amongst the changes.
  23. Remember these kits were annuals when they were being done, and there was at least one 1995 short bed F-150 kit.
  24. It's worth...about $4. The last one of these that sold on eBay went for $87 and it was in unopened and unstarted condition inside, and had a 8/10 box. You're missing a great deal of the inner packaging, and it looks like the kit is about 1/3rd of the way built - mediocrely - by said kid, and unless it's rolling around in the box all of the pieces that make the suspension "function" (and buildable) are gone. IMAI is also well know for making kits that were "dartboard" efforts in term of accuracy, and these 1/16th scale kits are basically de-motorized R/C cars with some innards added after the fact. Unless you want to build it yourself, it's of no significant value as it sits, sorry...
  25. Wonder if they'll include the parts from the Fire Chief version, that's one of the FIRST first models I ever built as a kid. As you point, not a super fabulous kit, but it'll look good sitting next to the Datsun and the various Hasegawa Sunnys. Speaking of Japanese mini-trucks, we can't be too far away from reissues of the Ford (Mazda) Courier, and Dodge (Mitsubishi) Ram 50 at this point...
