  1. There are no Le Mans versions. This year's BMW entries were BMW M8s, they did not have entries in 2016 or 2017. BMW made the decision late last year to keep the M6 as a GT3/GTD customer racing platform and make the M8 their LMGTE class car.
  2. Falken version is a minor revision to the first kit which adds the specific fender cooling vents that are only run at Nurburgring regardless to series (VLN, ADAC GT Masters, and 24hrs). There is a further kit that will be coming in September with Team Italia Blancpain livery that will add a few specific parts for the Sprint configuration (which adds C/F inserts for the fog lights as the primary visual change). FWIW these reissues as well as their new tool 911 RSR GT3 were covered in the Shizouka Hobby Show thread as they made their debut at that show.
  3. What update? Was that an update? That's a restatement of facts that have been known for 2 months. New facts - albeit not Revell related - would be Hobbico's Debtor in Possession people settled with Traxxas in regards to the copyright infringement issues for $10.5 million.
  4. Nice job on a tough kit. It should be noted this was one of their first kits ever back in 2012. Their newer kits are substantially better - like night and day different from the old kits. Also they use Cartograf decals now like everyone else.
  5. The irony of the Japanese not dealing their own kits for sale in country, or self importation is that they WILL shrink wrap kits imported into Japan. I've bought several Belkits, Heller and RevellAG kits from Japan and they're all shrink wrapped. The Belkits ones even get Aoshima labeling over the Belkits kit information. It's weird getting a sealed RevellAG kit that's WRAPPED rather than just having those circle seals on the end. I have seen (and received 2nd hand) kits in Japanese Hobby Shops with plastic banding around it. I presume those stores are having issues with contents walking off and it's a cheap method of theft deterrent. To the Original point, sealed, unsealed, it's all getting opened when I get home...or maybe in the car in the parking lot if it's something I just have to see. I really don't see the point, in 2018, why EVERYONE isn't just digging into their kits to appreciate them. Time and time again the "kit of no return" has in fact returned. Even with things like old annuals and JoHans, their value as a collectible is the idea you can sell it for more than you paid for it. While I don't prescribe to the sky is falling doom of the hobby, the fact is the market for those super rare old kits that are gonna fund your retirement is gonna hit a tipping point, probably within the next 15 years, where the number of collections that will come into the market is going to far exceed the customer base for them.
  6. There are a couple of "bootleg" streams up today - since the only way to legally see it in North America is Velocity on TV and Motor Trend Online to stream. I've got a fairly reliable boot and synced it with the Radio Le Mans commentary (since they're just watching the same video feed) and it's pretty enjoyable.
  7. The Ollie's (2 of them) around here seem to have sold out of the '61 Impala Convertibles - which surprises me considering how old a boxing the kits were, those have been sitting around a warehouse nearly since they were $8 originally. I had almost convinced myself to get one to combine with the factory stock parts out of one of the '61 Coupes I have with the original funked up bodies. Other than that the "2nd Wave" has been the large scale Fiat Dragster and the D700s in Cab only, and Tanker & Flatbed combos. Plus there's plenty of "left over" pre-painted Stangs, Vettes, Challengers along with a few CASES of Danica Fusions (why did they run off nearly 11k of those specific kits?!?!?!?) and the regular Lindberg antique junk and reboxed/named Boyd stuff.
  8. If we're really going to entertain the faux outrage at people being silly on eBay, I win the Internet with this Foose P/U on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Revell-Foose-FD-100-Pickup-Plastic/dp/B01NC2YI55?keywords=revell+foose&qid=1529106754&sr=8-2&ref=mp_s_a_1_2 But hey at least the shipping is free!
  9. THE warehouse doesn't exist anymore. It's closed and most of those people work at Horizon Hobby now. The Revell kits in the retail market are what are left in secondary mainline distributors (Tower under it's new owners, Stevens, Squadron, HTUSA, HL, Tru Value, Hobby Time, Wal*Mart, etc) and what's on the shelves at the storefront. I grabbed the last Revell Jeep Honcho from my local HL for $18, but they were out of Foose P/Us, the Baja Bronco, and "Big Game" (aka High Roller) GMC.
  10. An hour at a minimum wage job has never bought a model in lifetime. My first job was $4.36/hr - which was a whole 11 cents over the actual minimum wage. Model kits were $7 by 1996. You might be able to find a $4 kit on clearance at like an Ames or KMART if you were lucky.
  11. Arguably the Espada was the most mainstream Lamborghini made back then. They built and sold more of those, by a pretty fair margin (a couple hundred more than the entire 400GT & Muria runs combined for example), than anything else until the production of the Countach started. I just wish I had managed to get one of the Jaramas he did. Those "other" Lamborghinis get no love. All the kits are motorized toys in super odd scales.
  12. I just bought the last one from my LHS (for reference I had not bought any til now) yesterday when I stopped in for supplies. Sitting there all lonely for the princely sum of $20.
  13. I saw this thread go by and was like - "Oh right the summer 24hr Build"...then tonight it occurred to me that it's this weekend. As it happens my wife and kids are heading to Lake Erie tomorrow for a trip they planned months ago when I was still working every weekend. My career has changed course and I have weekends off like a normal person again. So no wife, no kids...GAME ON!
  14. The licensing for the Foose kits was supposed to expire at the end of March, which I don't believe it was renewed (based on subsequent filings), and what with Blitz rejecting almost all of the US licensing - as it was duplication of existing AG licensing, I honestly believe there would have to be an entirely new agreement made up to reissue any of those kits - unless they become Chipperson Fooze or whatever.
  15. Probably because the online coupon that you can bring up for them to scan on your smart phone can't be "taken away", there's really no point in keeping the printed ones anymore. Actually the last time I was in our new HL I showed the cashier my phone and she didn't even scan it, just hit a couple of keys on the register and it took the 40% off.
  16. If you want to gloss coat Tamiya Acrylic Bottle Paint, then get the Tamiya Acrylic Bottle Gloss Clear X-22.
  17. I'm curious why some of you guys think eBay is in business to provide you with a historical free photo hosting site. If you see a picture of something, right-click save it for yourself. When you consider the sheer volume of pictures they host over millions of auctions have to constantly add server space to keep all of it archived.
  18. Yes, yes you do. It looks mundane on the box but this reissue comes with all of the previous variants parts so it has surfboards, and a beach party setup replete with a Era "appropriate" entertainment center. The warning on these kits in the past used to be that "Best Car Vintage" label. In these modern reboxings they're adding a "warning" on the side in the kit description that the tooling is from the long ago and far away and isn't going to be a modern build experience.
  19. I'd say that review is a hair on the harsh side given this kit was tooled up in the late 1970s/early 1980s, and is basically a motorized toy broken down into a model kit. It's not exactly a fair representation of a even run of the mill shelf kit from the 1990s let alone currently. That said I always get a chuckle out of your reviews of this off the wall stuff. Aoshima just reissued their 1/20 Honda Life Step Van which is a Kei toaster on wheels which would make a fine companion piece for this Subaru.
  20. Important to remember the current Revell (or RevellAG if you prefer) already had a company to run prior to the bankruptcy and the entire court break up affected them the least since they just got a change to where their checks are coming from...their responsibility first and foremost is to get all their own stuff to market - like those two big scale Porsche 356s - before really worrying about the extra work their new "bosses" bought for them.
  21. There's at least 4 listings on eBay right now, I'm might request that July 8th shop check their order again.
  22. With all due respect, I highly doubt Round2 is making YouTube videos as a way to keep their distributors informed as to what kits are coming. If one were to check with said distributors you'd know they know what kits are coming for about the next 90-120 days. These videos are put out for hobbyists to inform them of upcoming products, but the problem they've had since they started is that only a few things they show in any given month are actually going to be released IN the month they're showing them in...for example the '57 Chrysler 300C WILL come out in June, but the Autocar & Fruehauf trailer are scheduled for July. Also scheduled for July - '40 Ford (OAS) '65 El Camino "Gear Hustler" MPC Tiger Shark Show Rod doohickie mahbobber
  23. I'll pickup one of those Autocar tractors, although not until July - When it's actually coming out...why is this so hard for these guys?
  24. Understand that Spotmodel's release dates are wildly inaccurate, but at least their taking pre-orders.
  25. The reason you confused people is that the actual re-released kits will have the engines and wheels swapped so the SBC is going in the '29 Roadster, and the Buick Nailhead is going in the '30 Coupe. So what you bought is a final pre-production build of the ORIGINAL kit, not something that represents the kit as it will be re-released from the fixed tooling.
