Although it is interesting that the BMW E46 Super 2000 seems to be in an early plastic test shot, rather than 3D render prints. The new addition here would be the Top Right which is a Nissan Sunny which raced in the TS1300 (1300cc) class in Japan against Honda Civics and Toyota's Corolla Levin. It apparently made a reasonably suitable 2WD tarmac rally car in the 1970s as well.

Auspiciously worded statements like this literally make my head hurt. The way that reads it makes it sounds like Atlantis bought all but 5 of the total tools that Revell/Monogram owned - period. It's a laughably and demonstratively false statement to even say that bought all but 5 of the U.S. based tooling. So that means they bought all but 5 of the TD pieces of tooling, which makes actual sense since we know Blitzvell is currently shipping the Rommell's Rod, you'd presume the Baja (Beast) Bandito is another tool they kept since that was part of the slate of planned reissues as well. The thing that makes it so face desky is that Tom HAS to know what he's licensed to Blitzvell...doesn't he? Or is everything on agent autopilot and he's just bumbling around unaware of who owns what of his and he just gets a check at the end of the month. I mean he does have licensing out to Mattel and Round2 as well and it has be a lot to keep track of...

Only because the grading scale doesn't go any lower. They're the same ones that stirred up that...firestorm...over Tamiya's Minimum Advertised Price nonsense earlier this year by implying all of the kits were gonna skyrocket in price. Price on the Heritage Z in Japan is $27.51...hang onto yer wallets they're out to get ya.

I get what you're saying, but at the same time they're reissuing a specific kit, and that kit didn't have all those parts in 1977, so it's not going to now either. As for getting excited about a 41 year old van kit, I can't see how anyone would be, but it'll float someone's goat I'm sure.

From what I've read of their back and forth, there is no plan to fix the mostly-sorta "it started at a Mopar project" front suspension. Also when you're being "forced" to run extra tooling to cut new front and rear bumpers and grille inserts for the Oldsmobile, maybe that's a clue you should fix the "universal" nature of your Monte Carlo bumper. I mean do I need to buy the Mopar Wing Car kit to get the correct '74 Monte Carlo bumper? Is that going to be the way they sell extra kits - just make you have to buy the next new tool kit to get all the fixed pieces for the last one? How very Yenko/"COPO" Nova of them.

I'll just sit here and wait until the "You should shut up and be happy we still have model kits" brigade shows up and defends how this is even plausibly O.K. in 2018 for a $35+ model kit, when people have been screaming at them since Day 1 the first CAD images dropped that the bumper was wrong. EDIT - Also does the chassis really sit in the rear end like that - a country mile short of the back bumper and a scale half foot short of the rear quarters? Sooooo there's just a giant gaping hole to the inside of the body?

Oh I don't know, usually it looks mediocre and goofed up. Then people exclaim it's just a test shot and Revell will fix it, and not to judge until you have the model in your hands. Then the day comes and it's still the same pile of mediocre unfixed nonsense inside the box. The fact that it looks pretty decent on the box art buildups would lend me to believe they might have actually pulled it off more than the last several attempts.

Got shots of the completely built and finished Beemax Lancia S4 they put together for the show next weekend. December release. Replacing some of the mesh with the P/E vents oughta really make this one quite nice.

At the same time, if you want a '68 Chevelle - unless there's something really goofed up and wrong about the Revell proportions - why on earth would anyone pay $170 for a built kit, when an minty fresh new one would be $25 or less?

Well remember all of this box art was drawn up pre-bankruptcy, and for the financial and practical reasons (further delaying an already delayed unasked for reissue) they weren't going to have it re-done.

No reason a 288GTO should be anyone's grail kit, Fujimi reissued it in 2015 and it's available all over the place in Japan for less than $20. Fujimi never made a curbside version of it like they did with some of the other the Enthusiast Series kits, so any 288 is the same as the original.

Well now that you have a company in control that effectively doesn't need to make the same sort of profit to make a profit - once they make back that $100k investment in Revell USA it's all gravy (beyond operation costs of running the kits and printing boxes, instructions and decals) - perhaps those "hidden" variations of existing tools will be pushed out faster.

Mine had an entire endcap of those Revell CARS licensed Junior Kit "kits", I wonder if those came from Toys R Us...

I would expect three or more considering they're carrying around all that Yenko and Baldwin-Motion licensing still. '68, '69, Yenko, BM, and something that can feature a drag racing version ala the '69 Nova with the SBC

We got a new end cap here in SW Pennsylvania, none of these were in the first "blowout" of kits that had all the Danica NASCAR kits and pre-paint Revells.

The tooling for all the versions would have been cut by pre-bankruptcy Hobbico Revell given it was in test shot phase before the wheels came off. It would be somewhat silly to not run what is basically a free new tool mold considering if they sell out a run of the '68 if would effectively pay for the entire cost of the U.S. tooling & company trademarks/licensing.

The one '70 Challenger is the 1980s 1/24 Monogram kit, the newer one is 1/25, and as I recall is plastic run through a diecast tool.

As has been discussed elsewhere before there's nothing special about the Special Edition kits, it's just one of Revell's many marketing "segments" that allows retailers to order mixed case assortments of kits. They have no higher or lower parts count than any other new tool offering.
