I would presume it to not be a new tool at all, but a resin multimedia piece. The question would be whether or not it has a higher end quality and feel (and ergo price) that a Hobby Design or Modeler's piece would have, or if it's gonna be a more garage kit - gonna have to beat this into something - feel that Reji, Renaissance and others who've done resin "kits" of Rally subjects before.

So how come no one has piled into this thread like a derailed Aurora tooling train to point out that you all are just uselessly speculating, and nobody but Atlantis actually knows what's going on? I mean every Revell thread for 8 months around here got poo poo'd by some of you guys that nobody knew what was going on, even though some of us clearly did.

Toyota Fj Cruiser , New From Fujimi
niteowl7710 replied to martinfan5's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
There will be three color versions released in December. An all white, two tone black, and two tone yellow. The two tones will have white roofs as their second color. Price around $35 in Japan. -
Being that those pre-paints are being blown out by Ollie's from allegedly the remaining stock of Hobbico, there's a 99.9% chance the new Revell can't do anything for you in terms of replacing that exact body. I doubt they have any of the unpainted 2014s left at this point either.

SOME CURRENT ROUND 2 INFO TODAY...
niteowl7710 replied to AC Norton's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Nope, not even a little bit. Not to say they didn't crib the idea, but aside from the lack of an actual garage part and the part where's it's the wrong scale, the AMT stuff is clearly MURICA 1960s (I believe the Rigid calendar says 1968 on it)vibe. Whereas the Fujimi Tools & Garage is more late 1980s, and also includes an actual car lift. I suspect Fujimi would also realize that a set of sawhorses are useless if they're knee high like the ones included in the other box of bits. -
Nickey is a modified reissue of the 2n1 '67 SS. New grill, new hood, but the over all body is the same.

SOME CURRENT ROUND 2 INFO TODAY...

Not particularly surprising, they've slowly been working their way through all of the kits that Burkett "resurrected" in his special runs at AMT. -

Historically speaking the team had just finished 2nd at the Fuji 500km event the race before, and so when Tamiya licensed the car they probably expected it to go on to greater things. Ultimately they never finished that high for the rest of the season and the Tom's Open Interface won the Championship that year. Tamiya made that kit too as one of the 3 Lexus kits they did in '06/'07.

Now Here's an Idea

The car is liveried specifically to the Japanese Super GT Malaysia race at Sepang, the one round of Super GT that was held outside of Japan. A lot of the teams ran mild twists on their season liveries at this special showcase race.

All Japan Model & Hobby Show 2018
niteowl7710 replied to niteowl7710's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I suspect Hasegawa has learned something from the past 25 years since their original Group C kits were introduced. Tooling the nose and rear sections separately give them a great deal more flexibility to make different season and race variations without either great expense of an entire body shell and/or just chucking it out there as is with new decals. Several of their reissued Gr. C kits have been clunkers to the more serious hobbyist who realized that they aren't anywhere near accurate for the subject matter they represent - since reference material of the cars is so much more readily available. They also got a lot of heat last month when they reissued their TWR Jaguar XJS Gr. A Touring car with 1982 decals but with the 1984 season wheels. Studio27 had already made the livery months ago, and not including the correct BBS wheels just made it a head scratcher of a purchase considering you still need to go out and source wheels. -
All Japan Model & Hobby Show 2018

Aaaaaand that wraps up another All-Japan Model & Hobby Show. The next big show in Japan is Shizouka in May 2019, although there are a few smaller trade shows in Japan and Southeast Asia in the meantime that might feed out new kit announcements from Aoshima, Hasegawa & Fujimi for the 1Q and early 2Q of 2019. In general the next big things to look forward to will be the annual (presuming the new management continues the tradition) New Years Day announcement of the Revell kits for 2019. Should be interesting to see how they handle the Revell U.S. side announcements going forward in 2019. Then of course it will be time for the Nuremburg Toy Faire (January 30th-February 3rd). The first of the All-Japan stuff will start in a few days when the Ricoh JTCC Skyline is released and Beemax/NuNu Hobby stuff aside all of it is supposed to be released before the end of the year. -
All Japan Model & Hobby Show 2018

Couple more things to throw in this thread before I dispatch these photos to the circular file and wait on the actual models to arrive. This stuff all from the Hasegawa booth. The parts layout map for the R-91CP The earlier Irmsher Turbo Gemini The next street R31 - this the NiSMO 30th Anniversary Skyline GTS The new parts map for the '72 Monte Carlo Rally 240Z, significant for it's LHD components which are new to the kit platform. Built Production examples of the Ricoh Skyline GTS-R JTCC car, and Mitsubishi Colt Galant 2000 GSR A wide spectrum parts board shot that shows the two above kits in a little more detail in terms of new parts. It does appear the Ricoh car is going to require a two-tone paint job. Lastly the built production shots of the Lowrider "C" and Lowrider "T" -

I took a closer look at that photo as I was putting together my recap video and it occurs to me that not all of the parts runners are there. For example there are no doors, nor the interior door panels. Looks like it's just an assortment of example pieces rather than the entire kit. -
Model Car Kit Collection
niteowl7710 replied to Ahajmano's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Aoshima 230TE is just a reboxed RevellAG kit. Which is a vast ream of awful, unless you HAVE to have a Benz wagon and you don't much care what it looks like to get there. RevellAG did a bunch of versions of them in their boxes that usually go for vastly cheaper prices than the "rare" Aoshima version. -
December has always been the release date for the glue Cabrio. The snap Coupe should be out in a few weeks.

1/25 AMT '94 Ford F-150 Lightning Pickup
niteowl7710 replied to Casey's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I'm guessing he meant that the Lightning used the powertrain out of HD pick-up line, and also the frame rails off the F-250 4x4. But it was otherwise an F-150. So much so the technical name of the vehicle is Ford F-150 SVT Lightning. Those F-150 badges most certainly should stay on any type of factory stock replica - a 2 second Google search proves that. -
December. When we'll get them here depend on when you LHS decides to import them. As the understanding goes Revell U.S. is not going to act as their distributor here, the big front line suppliers are going to have to order their stuff directly from Germany.

All Japan Model & Hobby Show 2018
niteowl7710 replied to niteowl7710's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The people who constantly rip on Chad in the Round2 videos have rubbed off on me, because I really don't care for this young kid they brought on board at all. He appeared back in May during the Shizouka Show Coverage video, and he hasn't gotten any better in terms of knowledge or camera presence since then. I frankly enjoyed Brian and Scott goofing around at the shows trying to cover stuff that wasn't in their comfort area, Brian is Armor, and Scott is Aircraft - then usually they'd split up the car stuff. They seem to have brought the kid in to do the car stuff, but as seen in this video he doesn't have an idea what he's talking about - in his short screen time in the Aoshima booth he both made a bad joke & mispronunciation of Huracan (not Hurricane), and doesn't know which Liberty Walk GT-R kit is the new one. Then proceeded to basically tell all their customers the 1/32 line is full of boring uninteresting Japanese cars. I mean lets face it everyone here has known about these kits for months because Jonathan, I and others feed the forum this information, so the HLJ crew should be equally (if not better informed since at least Brian and Scott can both read and speak Japanese) but the new guy manages to make me unexcited about anything he talks about...
