1/16th Dukes Charger * 3/28/15* Update, **DAISY DUKE AUTOGRAPH**
kruleworld replied to Rdkingjay's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Only the general lee was GM Flame Red, hemi orange is too dark. looks good anyway, and i've done some of the scratchbuilding to this kit too, so i know your pain. -
i decided to add a bit of detail to the fiat. i've redone the mud on the front and added a tumbleweed. i just need to add a couple spot lights to finish it off.

Ken & Mary Skyline GT-R Motorshow Tribute
kruleworld replied to Scale-Master's topic in Diecast Corner
i thought it looked like a 1/87 (hotwheels scale), but assumed it was 1/25. small as a h/w is fantastic work. awesome! -
This is no different to those Fast n Furious movie tie-ins AMT released. cynical or cost effective? i'm sure the engineers were given a limited budget for this line of kits, and i'm guessing most went on Foose licensing. Either way, if it gets some kids to start building models, i'm all for it. (yes i'd have preferred a proper set of kit rims).

It's a good build, helluva job. this car was supposed to be used for the Knight Rider 2000 movie, but there was an issue and Pontiac pulled their support, so KR crew built their own knock off (the hideous one based on a Toyota MR-2). i believe this car also appeared in Back to the Future 2 (background future car).

Finished the trio of cars from this Episode. For those who haven't seen it. Jeremy, Hammond and May set off from Iraq to Bethlehem to recreate the 'three wise men' who went to see jesus' birth. They do it in cheap sports convertibles, break-downs, blood, sweat and bullet-proof vests as they cross the Middle East. All three models were found in 1/25 scale plastic kits. Unbelievably, the z3 was the hardest to find. All three kits were easy to build and the mods to each one made them more interesting. Images of the number plates were edited up (georgia plates) and printed on photo paper.

2nd vote to woodgrain the beer keg. nice grenades. would be good for a diorama -
crazy hinge, no doubt. excellent work

i painted that door and fixed the taillights.

interesting concept. Sort of a stretch limo rod on high-riders? getting stuck would be worse. bodies tend to pile up fairly quickly.

That's a sweet porsche. I like the detail. unusual combination of parts. btw, i like your avatar picture (coke mustang)

James May's BMW Z3 Africa Corps built from Tamiya kit 1/25, james didn't like his bmw. it broke down several times, was underpowered, too stiff in the suspension and it had gears so far apart 'i could fit another gearbox between them'. To get across the desert, he added jerry cans, spare tires, track planks, tools, lights and a camo paint scheme. Most of the accessories were from the spares box, and the pick and light bar was scratchbuilt. Paint was a spray can apple mist. camo applied with the 'hole-in-paper' method.

Sounds delicious! That chick sure glops on the lipstick, or maybe she's channeling the Joker!
-
of course, that means you'd have to do your custom 50s rods in 1/87. better to get it in 1/25 scale. Sadly the original Mel's Diner was pulled down shortly after the movie was finished.

Jim Goose Kawasaki kz-1000 resin kit?
kruleworld replied to Austin T's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
it would be an interesting kit to do. sadly i've only ever seen the odd resin version and never been able to get one. -
That's brilliant, but i would have put the mags on the sedan and dog dish on the wagon.

Lets See Your Replicas of Yours/Your Families Cars

The stories are just as good as the models. I haven't found a model of my first car, a Mazda 1500. closest i've found is a 1/87 scale two door of it. which i bought. This was a 67 Mazda, but was designed by Bertone, the famous italian style house. My Current Ride: Ford Falcon XR8 ute (think of it as a modern day Ranchero). Model has to be modified from a FPV pursuit (repaint, some body mods, correct rims which i've got). i had this Alfa GTV 2.0 for a few months. fun to drive, but prone to breakdowns 86 Hyundai 2001 Ford Falcon I also owned a Subaru 'Ugly Duckling' Leone, which i had to update the model to a dual headlight -
This is a 1/24 scale diecast kit 74 Maverick by Motor Max. it's a primered unassembled diecast. It was missing the flame decals mentioned on the box, and the two lots of decals, were both the same colour. The instruction sheet is basic and done with black and white photos instead of the hand drawn you normally see. I don't know why they labeled this box 'American Graffiti', since that movie was set in 1962. The kit although snap kit still benefited from detail painting. I did the interior in a beige, with black dashboard detailed with silver trim. i also masked and painted the engine top (not a full engine). chassis is clunky, but i detailed it as a used car. One door got damaged, so i sanded it back and reprimed it (yes i will repaint it as some stage). the decals were trash, falling apart immediately it hit the water. since there's a second set, i'll scan and reprint them. Paint is Tamiya metallic blue. The Maverick is ford's baby muscle car, styled similar to the Mustang made from 69 to 77. The Maverick was originally conceived and marketed as a subcompact "import fighter", intended to do battle with the Volkswagen Beetle and newer Japanese rivals. The Falcon, Ford's compact offering since 1960, had seen its sales decimated by the introduction of the Mustang in 1964, and despite a redesign in 1966, was unable to meet forthcoming federal motor vehicle standards that would come into effect on January 1, 1970. Consequently, the Falcon was discontinued midway through the 1970 model year, and the Maverick repositioned as Ford's compact entry.
