  1. List price $7995.00 and that's without software. Add another $300.00 - $700.00 for software. I have less than half that in a 12X20 lathe and a medium sized milling machine, not cnc though. Bet you could produce some nice parts with that. Ken
  2. I'm a good ole American Yankee Doodle guy that tries to buy American made, and I know I got a bunch of Chinese made stuff. If you really don't want anything made in China I suggest you start emptying your house out. Another thing, remember that if you spend an extra 100 bucks on that USA compressor it might be assembled with a percentage of Chinese parts. It's not legal, the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) says so, but it happens because there are ways around it. I worked for Chrysler for 41 years and I know about content law. You think your car is USA made with USA parts? Maybe you better get rid of your ride as well. If you buy a Chinese made compressor for your hobby airbrushing it will most probably out last you. Or by the time it fails you would have gotten your moneys worth out of it. Now if you were looking for something for a business, I might look for something bigger and better, like a big Chinese made compressor (lol). Just my thoughts on this, no harm meant. Ken
  3. Beautiful build. I like the roof rack, it's putting ideas in my head. Ken
  4. Here's a few more pics Just covered up 2 steel desk and cabinet with some flooring underlayment board. Ken
  5. I got tired of working off the top of an old steel desk. Spent under a hundred bucks on material, and this is what I have now I'm pleased with it. I have everything at my fingertips. Ken
  6. I've built the chopped version. Not a bad kit, but had a lot of parts I didn't use because they just didn't look right. The front axle with is horrible. This kit looks as though it has the same sprues in it. I want that tall "T" body but don't really care for a "T" bucket. I just might go resin. Ken
  7. At the present I have the lower tray standing on some spring clamps to vent out some of the heat. it runs just at 114 degrees. Ken
  8. That's awesome. I like it a lot. Ken
  9. I like it. I really like the fact that it has the a/c crompressor. A feature that is not present in most model kits. Did you have to scratch the a/c plumbing, or was it included. Well done. Ken
  10. Mike, that looks really nice. I've built this kit and liked it so much I got another one and put it in my stash to build at a later date. Ken
  11. So what some of you are saying is that you don't use ebay because there are too many rippoff auctions. Come on, just don't bid on them. If you didn't like the music on a radio station would you not listen to the radio anymore? or change the station? I've gotten a load of great deals on ebay. I don't bid on the ones that I think are a rippoff. Not just model cars either. I buy antique motorcycle and car parts from ebay at a fraction of what I would pay for them elsewhere. There's a lot of good deals to be had there. And yes I am a seller as well. But I buy much more than I sell. After ebay fees and paypal fees there is a huge chunk taken out of your profit, especially on higher priced items, which is mostly what I deal with, but you reach an enourmous amount of people. Another good one is craigslist. If you go to allofcraigs.com your item search will cover the whole country not just one city. That's how I bought my 1/8 revell big deuce for $25 sealed in the box ($10 shipping). Just my 2 cents. Ken
  12. What drives me crazy is that everything looks the same today. Years ago cars had character and when one came down the street you knew what it was from a block away. And what's with this european styling? I don't give a #@% about european styling, I live in the USA. Ken
  13. I go there for paint and plastruct or evergreen plastic. Very rarely do I buy a kit there. Only if it's on the clearance table. Their prices are insane, but they have a great paint selection. Ken
  14. I don't think he's expecting to get a million for them. He probably just put that number there so no one bids. Just listed to show them off. If he's an ebay hotwheels seller it could be good advertisement for him. People will look to see what else he has. I didn't look to see if he was a seller. I only pick up a car here and there if it catches my eye as something I like. Usually ends up in my grandsons hands anyway. Ken
  15. Thank you Bill. I'm looking forward to doing business with him. Looks like I have another place to spend my money. Ken
  16. This is coming out real nice. I remember those cars well. I spent 40 years working for Chrysler. Just a few things, I'm not nit picking, just observations. This car has column shift, so I would think it's an automatic. If this is the case you have the wrong transmission. The one in the pictures is a 4 speed manual. A base model 318 car had a Y pipe with single exhaust. But that is relevant because many people installed duals including myself. Ken
  17. Good for you Rob, I know just where you're coming from. I was injured on the job last October, had surgery and was out for 6 months. My wife got laid off to week after my surgery, which put us in dire straights. Workers comp in Georgia caps off at $500 no matter how much you earn yearly. She still hasn't found a job, and she's quite qualified at what she does. Seems like businesses want to hire unqualified people and pay them less. I did get a lot of building time in when I had my knee surgery. Glad things are looking up for you, it's not a nice way to look at things, but nowadays you have to look out for #1 and not worry about the rest of em'. Ken
  18. I build wooden model ships as well as plastic models and cars. I had someone tell me that the $400 wooden model ship that I purchased had inaccurcies in the rigging and some other components. I told them that I wasn't expecting the curator from the Smithsonian for dinner any time soon. It's a $20 MODEL CAR, none of them are perfect or 100% accurate. I can just about guarantee that no one will be at your house with templates checking the body shape. Build it and have fun. It's probably go on a shelf later on and eventually end up on the top of the shelf. Ken
  19. Thats an old trick that's been done many times before. I have well over 100 bottles of paint. Acrylics and emanels. I have this service that I do called paint maintenance. Every 6 months I go through every bottle of paint that I have. Check the viscosity and adjust if it's drying out. I clean the caps and threads on the jars. By doing this I have saved myself quite a bit of money. It takes a bit of time but worthwile, especially if you have a large collection of paints. Ken
  20. Cool, thanks Mike. I'll drop him an email. Ken
  21. So I just got finished reading a post about this 32 Ford Sport Coupe from Replicars and Miniatures of Maryland, and this body looks fantastic. Everyone is saying how great the products are and how nice the owner Norm is to deal with. Now I haven't done much with resin, just some odds and end pieces purchased at some model shows and a few pieces I cast for one of my r/c tugboats, but I think it's time i got something like this coupe. So I google this Replicars and Miniatures of Maryland place and come up with just about nothing. Just some other websites that carry some of his product. If someone could please let me know how to contact them, and do they have a catalog? I'm really surprised that in that posting how everyone was praising the product that not one person thought to give this guy a plug and put his contact information in there. I have some friends that live in Glen Burnie and every once in a while I'm in the area. Do they have a walk in retail store there? Looking forward to doing business with them. Thanks, Ken
  22. like i said before the only real hobby shop is 50 miles away so it's usually online for me, but there is another thing I do. Whenever we are traveling I look up in advance to see if there are any hobby shops in the areas that we will be traveling through (if driving) or in the cities we will be visiting if flying. I try my best to visit them. Wife says she understands but sometimes I get some greif over it and sometimes I just can't do it but I try. Ken
  23. whale 392 said it all. They all look alike and the minor differences at that scale would be almost impossible to detect. The most prominent thing would be the boss on the block just as he said which is just a square raised portion in the casting to the left of the distributor. Ken
