I will be down for a while
Smart-Resins replied to Smart-Resins's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The apprasel is what we are paying for it. The house had cought fire many years ago and has been stripped inside. Very little has been done to it since other then some new floors, new sub roof and shingles. New insulation. Estimate is $1,500 in drywall alo0ne pluse tape, screws and paint. Fun fun fun. Much other work as well. Yes, the car does appear to be rust free! Long term project there as I plan a frame up resto done by myself. All but motor. That Ill let a pro rebuild! The barn is beckoning for a real paint booth so I can do cars and tractors and bikes and custom wood working and cabinetry! Slow but sure though! Teres 8 vehicles and two boats. Many will go down the road to helpn fund fixing up the house! Chuck, you are right. Modeling will when possible, be fit in still. I love it too much to give up! HEHEHE. -
I will be out of the modeling scene for a long while, not sure how long. But, the soon to be adminastrator of the wifes late step father has agreed on a price for house and contents. We had the legal purchase offer made yesterday with $8,000 down on a $10,000 home. We are shooting for a closeing date of September 1st. The house does need a bunch of work before we move in! Also, besides house work, I also will be obtaining a 1:1 project I will be spending my money and time on. here are some pictures. In the interum, I will be watching every one elses great projects and dreaming! LOL. Thanks. To show where my priorities sit, heres the important one to me first. HEHEHEHE. The I believe 1962 triumph TR3(. What I ill be shooting towards! Now for my domain Now for the house

It was good to see he was able to help come up with the blue for the orbitron again after so many years off him painting it the first time. I guess the 58 Ford is one of his more noteable jobs? But I always liked his 58 Pontiac! His rig was cool too! Many a jobs did he do for Big Daddy! Not many legends left. Too few trying to think about walking in thier foot paths! -
Man that looks supurb! I love you smoke there on the take off! LOL. Terrific quality there! Keep them coming!
-
Dang man, look at you go with them! WOW! I like seeing them in brass, kinda inspires me to try a set! Any sizes there for us on them? LOL.

Alright, a quick update on this beast. I had soaked it in the purple pond to remove the paint that was on it so I could do some more bondoing on it to make it look a tad better as I was not happy with it! When I pulled it from the lake, it had fallen to pieces on the back. I got very discouraged and threw it into a box of junk. Now I had given my word to make sure it got built so I couldnt throw it away like I wanted to! LOL. It has been quite a while now and just about forgotten about it. Last night someone had asked me if I had done anything to it and I had said NO! Well I ended up going through some boxes looking for stuff for someone and I happened to pull this out last night. Sitting on top of it was a old wagon rod body wich I had thought I had gotten ridf of! LOL. I happened to look at it and recalled a pic of a real willys panel I had seen and double checked the pic. Sure enough, not too far off. So I was up for over three hours hacking and chopping and sliceing and diceing. Finially was happy about 3AM today! I am including a couple of pics of 39 and 40 and 41 willys to compare the body lines too! Not quite the same, but you will notice, closer. I am happier with this and it is back into business! I will also share some pics of the job! Thanks.

Im not sure wich project I like better, they all have style are kickin it!

Toronado chassis or only rims? Very interesting to see kustom work on it. Ugly choice! But I do like how they glassed in the open lights and the nose on it is different and kinda cool!(Only the part between the lights that is!) LOL. Rims kill it after the teath do! LOL. Should have just made a nice grin on it! LOL

Thanks Chuck! Jim, I recall that one if its the one with drilling holes in a board the same depth as the height of the straight part of the stacks, then useing a awel to flare the end? I hope to succeed in doing that! If not, I know scale details offers a nice set. Thanks.
-
I really want velocity stacks on it. I will be useing the 66 Pontiac GTO motor from Revell kit # 85-2537. Thanks

Quick update. I have glued on some thin sheet pieces onto the frame sections for the mounts. Once they dry, I can sand them flat where they are not yet. You will note the square tubing in the pic. That is what I will make the frame end of the mounts out of! I will have to cut one side out and file smooth, then epoxy them on. I will have to drill the holes for the mounting screws, and drill the holes for the riser mounts for the springs. Once that is done, I will move forward to removing the cross members one at a time and replacing them with round stock cross bars and cut off the motor mounts and make more realistic bolt on plates for more detail. Hope you enjoy! Thanks.
