Really cool. I like the cluttered look. Just like the shop I take my car to.

Have few million dollars?
ra7c7er replied to 935k3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I agree but it has been like this for a long time. The smaller F1 teams can't really compete on the track or for sponsorship. I wouldn't be surprised if several of the back marker teams can't make the last couple races. -
ALMS...lost another one
ra7c7er replied to Nick F40's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Rolex 24 hour is licensed to Speed for 10 years. It fell outside the contract that Speed signed with Nascar. F1 has nothing to do with ALMS. Honestly Nascar could care less about F1. We have to face it no series will ever get the coverage Nascar gets until Nascar either somehow fails or someone can put millions into another series. It just won't happen, Nascar won't let it happen. I like Speed channel sort of. Honestly the reruns of Monster Jam are getting old and the abundance of Car shop this and that is getting to be annoying they are the exact same show with different hosts. On the Edge is one of the best shows they have but now they have cut that and put it in a horrible time slot. Speed is a good channel but nothing special. Nowhere near what Speedvision was. And don't get me started on Pass Time and Full of himself Rich Christensen with his show pinks. Ugh that guy is an A-hole. -
ALMS...lost another one
ra7c7er replied to Nick F40's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's not ALMS's fault. Nascar has been pushing them out for a few years now. Ever since ALMS started gaining in popularity Nascar has been trying to kill them. Nascar made the new deal with Speed only if Speed would end coverage of ALMS. Nascar didn't think anyone else would pick them up. Don't get on ALMS for what Nascar is doing at least ALMS is trying with the online coverage. Nascar won't do that. -
Thanks. I saw your website and the dio page I like all the background you are doing on it. Really makes it come alive. I hope you don't mind me copying you when I go to do the ceiling on my dio.

Yes you are correct. With a car it is a little different though if it is a engine compartment fire you really want to try and coat the whole engine top down is good. Honestly they shouldn't have done anything besides making sure the flames didn't spread to the surrounding grass. Using the wrong equipment can be worse than doing nothing. One of the first things you are taught in training is proper equipment to use. I hope someone sees this and calls them out on it. -
Almost a sweet deal

Another hobby shop closing. Just in the time I have been on the boards here 7 shops have closed that have been posted about. The more shops that close the harder it is for younger kids to get interested. Our hobby is already struggling. I understand the closings though nowadays your not just fighting the local market you are fighting ebay and stores across the country. Small businesses just can't do it. Go out and support your local shop. -

I don't know what kind of burnout contest is done on a public road like that. The fire fighters must not have had proper training seriously water on a car fire? water won't do much for an alcohol or fuel burning not to mention oil. To top it all off the burnout wasn't even that good. -
What made you switch?
ra7c7er replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Same here I am kind of picky when it comes to models. It's why I am having such a hard time really getting involved in building. I have a few kits I really want to build but since I am still really new I don't want to do them right now and I know if I start on something I am not that interested in I probably won't finish it. I really just need some inspiration to get started. --- I was into slot cars before I started Modeling. When I moved and didn't have enough space to set up my track and I found a kit of a model car I built when I was a kid with my grandpa I kind of jumped back into it. -
This is amazing any chance you could post up how you did the ceiling and everything. It's so realistic if it weren't for the little dudes in some of the pics nobody would know it wasn't real.

Oddly enough that's were Tuesday Morning got there Stevens International kits they sold back in December. Now we have to ask the shop owners what distributor had a fire last year?

Watch trailer for "Bullitt" chase scene
ra7c7er replied to Jon Cole's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just to let you guys know those are Pioneer slot cars. Pioneer started just a couple years ago and their first release was the Bullitt Mustang the bad guys car came a little after. They make interesting subject cars other companies won't touch. To bad we don't have a brand like that in the model car business. -
They aren't gaining any new customers buy canceling new kits. The local shop here had 12 preorders for them hurt the shop and Revell. The need to realize that they can't survive on reissues of 40 year old kits forever. Bring on the new stuff.

The possibility of "No Chrome" Kits
ra7c7er replied to Dragline's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What many people forget about when ideas like this pop into our heads is that we are not the majority of the hobby. All of us posting on forums and submitting to contests are not the majority of model builders. While I think you idea is interesting I don't think it is very practical. I agree that they need to work on chrome trees though but again they are for the most part dealing with 30-40 year old toolings they are not going to redo them just to remove some mold lines. The newly tooled stuff is much better. -
WOW, Awesome build.

Hollow tire problem fixed
ra7c7er replied to ewaskew's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Great tip. Thanks. -
I do it a similar way for clear washer fluid containers. Very light blue on the inside and very thin white with maybe a tinge of yellow for the outside. You still want to see the blue inside but have the white over it. If the part is molded in color just use a blue base coat and then thin white/yellow mix over it.

How long have you been modeling?
ra7c7er replied to wvsm's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
7 months and I have only finished two models so far. -
Here is the guy. He made Dirt Late Model and Modified rears including new and destroyed tires. They were really interesting looking I have not ordered any but I am seriously considering it. Larry's Resins 32 Adventure Rd. Louisville, KY 40216 502-712-7463 Slixx makes a decal sheet with Hoosier decals on them but you are going to get a bunch of other stuff you don't want. http://www.slixx.com/s1840.htm?id=2217

A Thank You to ALL Forum members.
ra7c7er replied to DRG's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I doubt you will offend anyone here. I myself and a complete novice and even screwed up a 1/32 snap kit just a few days ago. I learn a lot from this site and the members here. I just have a hard time putting that knowledge on a model but it will come with time. Just stick with it and ask questions when you have them. -
I used to use the software for my slot car layout. It is really awesome and well worth the money. The additional plug-ins are great to the graffiti plug-in was one of my favorites.

I had a pretty good weekend. Between my girlfriend and the Central Illinois Scale Auto Builders meet up. My girlfriend got me two BMW kits and I picked up 7 more kits at the club meeting.
