  1. Thanks to all for the comments & kind words! It was nice to get this one done; I mastered the parts last year; and never got the chance to have the prototype build up done. Doing the build allowed me the opportunity to figure out the rest of the widgets for the resin conversion; like the clip-ons and rearsets, and I will be adding the clip-ons to the set for sure; and perhaps the same type of headlamp molded woth a single instrument...trying to keep the resin sets simple; so that any modeler of average skill can use the resin parts as direct fit replacements on the kits.....Now.... On to version TWO cafe tank and seat combo!!! Matt
  2. The simba fire truck was made by Rosenbauer...................Matt
  3. Great Pix and video guys....another great show....had to leave early yesterday...just not feeling well at all; but glad I made it out..................Matt
  4. Planning to go; can't find any info on the web....I agree...Post the flyer!!!! Matt

  7. Rick; Thanks! Hope all is well out there for you....Trying to get this one finished up.....I will be doing several more variations on the CB-750 as well..........Matt
  8. Ulrich; Thanks! The Tank/seat-tail, and air cleaners are my own resin castings, as are the flanges for the exhaust. The frame is the tamiya frame; but has been modified heavily to eliminate all of the mounting holes and pads for all the stock kit parts. The new oil tank is made from evergreen stock, as is the exhaust, clip-ons, and re-location tray under seat for all the electrics....this bike would be "kick-only", so there are less widgets uber there...along with a smaller battery.....Oil cooler is P/E and copper....braided lines are detail master...You can see more pix on my site www.monkeyclawmodels.com Thanks for looking guys..............Matt
  9. I have known several guys that have gone the other way...that is using the plastic kit body on the R/C car; as the plastic kit body is much nicer.........Matt
  10. Anything Tamiya....just shake the box and the completed model falls out! Matt
  11. Thanks guys; I started the masters for the resin conversion last year; Finally getting to build one! I will have more pix uploaded on my site shortly....This is the 1st version I will be doing; later this year I will be doing a different tank and seat combo to fit the Honda CB kits..................Matt
  12. Sam; Thanks.... FINALLY figured out that bending just doesn't work....Lots of little "fishmoutn" cuts; then zapped back together to get the bend....took a couple tries; but I got it figured out....pretty happy with the result...just need to get some paint on the pipes ....I'll be glad to get this one done.........Matt
  13. This one is Finally coming along....Getting near completion, using my own resin conversion on the original Tamiya CB kit....still have to do the individual link chain; and finish up adding the rest of the widgets.... Made the 4 into 1 header from evergreen stock, the oil cooler is P/E and copper, Braided lines, Made the clip ons from evergreen stock as well....Almost there........Matt
  14. You need to add "ballast" kits when installing LED kits on your bike....Dealt with this early on with LED lights on my Road-glide; The ballast will make up the draw difference and allow the winkers to work as intended....depending on the popularity of the bike; you may also be able to install a more powerful stator; I also had to do this on the road glide to support the 1000 watts of stereo I installed on the bike....Not easy to keep a sub-woofer powered on two wheels..................Matt
  15. Nason Or PPG urethane clears; with a heat lamp after-bake..................Matt
  16. I'm Going!!! Great show every year..........Matt
  17. Not that silly actually; When I lived in Phoenix; There was a heavy wrecker running around town with the same La France cab.... It was kinda cool.............Matt
  18. Just buy a can of Prep-Sol already! The commercial grade automotive De-waxers work like nothing else....Matt
  19. Those trailers were originally paired with the ford C-600 cabover....would also look great behind the lindbergh Docge COE...........Matt
  20. I did get to see the test shots of this model at NNL south. The bus looks AWESOME! If I am not mistaken it even has power options (multiple engine choices; to be able to build most of the years the bus was actually made. The molding was very crisp; and the prototype buildup looked enticing...even though I don't really build any of the smaller stuff anymore; I may have to have a couple of these. .............Matt
  21. That looks like the 1/8 scale Citroen in the back of the truck......huge....and awesome..........Matt
  22. Ben; just bust out a pinstriping brush! Drop a tape line below the black/white split; and run the stripng brush right along it, using the black...........Matt
  23. "custom" is usually not meant to denote whether the model itself is from the box or not; the term "custom" , as applied to most contest rules I have been familiar with over the past 40 years. The term Custom means that the car represents a vehicle is not Factory stock....although the model may be from the box only; if you don't paint it a factory color; then indeed it would be a custom; regardless of widgets and bodywork or add ons..... this is usually the case in 1:1 car show events as well....I hope this helps.......Matt
