  1. All three of the entex 1/8 car kits command big $$$... They do rise & fall a bit with the market, and I have seen this kit bring $1200 in the past. The JPS car brings big dollars too; but the Marlboro car kills them all....I have seen the marlboro car sell in excess of $2200 on several occasions. I will also say that having built the RSR Porsche on more than one occasion; Dollars do not always equate to quality. The RSR is "wonky" at Best; virtually EVERY part of the model needs some type of fit adjustment, just to look decent....The biggest issue with the RSR is that the wheelbase of the chassis tub is NOT the same as the wheelbase of the body; and THAT is not an easy fix.... It's a shame the tooling wasn't better on this kit; but I guess they all can't be Tamiya 934/5's Matt
  2. No matter which way you go; be sure to get the Modelcargarage P/E set for this car....the grill is AMAZING; and adds alot of bang for the buck; sounds like you will do it right............I have a pair of these in the works myself.......Matt
  3. If the box to the left of the model is it's box; it would have to be an old MPC kit. The "Golden Wheels" promotional printing is one of MPC's old buy in promos....earn so many wheels; get a free kit....kinda like the old S&H green stamps....as for the kit itself; I would focus on MPC when searching...early 1980's ....hope the info helps narrow your search..........Matt
  4. That is one awesome model; I have been following his progress on the project. I remember seeing the pre-sell on ebay last fall; and I think that one is also on my "must have" list....one of my all time favorite cars, the Muira styling is timeless; and this looks to be an impressive model...............Matt
  5. As always; an awesome array of trucks at the show! So many great builds and builders in Europe....gonna have to go there just ONCE in my life........Matt
  6. Nice to see the old 914 being built up. The 916 fender mods shouldn't be too difficult....you should go for it! I would LOVE to see this car done in 1/12 scale............matt
  7. I don't see any mention of scale....what scale are you working in? And could I get the same engine printed in 1/12 scale??? I would really like to use the non turbo engine for a monte carlo rallye car in 1/12 scale...............feel free to PM me with any details..............matt
  8. Moving this topic over into trucks stuff: Sorry to all the guys out there that have been waiting on completion of this engine; as many of you already know; I have been doing lots of contract work outside my shop for about a year, and I now (finally) have a break to get back to some of my own projects! Been working like a dog to get the last parts done on the michigan 6 engine kit, in 1/16 scale; and it is moving along nicely...the masters are looking pretty good now; and I think I will have the last few parts done in the next couple of weeks; and anticipate having the molds done before the end of April. You can expect a full engine kit with this one.....intercooler (top in/ top out), piping, radiator surge tank, and tranny. The intercooler is engineered to fit around the 1/16 kit radiators; so it's really a drop in fit. Again; Sorry for the delay, and I just wanted to let you all know that this one is finally moving ahead....................Matt
  9. Contact Eric at P&P; he has a resin 379 conversion....................Matt
  10. In the few instances I have ever had any issue with the tamiya kits; Tamiya USA was always willing to provide replacement parts; I think you might try calling them directly, and you might be surprised at the result...The worst that could happen is you still don't have the added parts! Matt
  11. Had both boats out at the IPMS Region 3 event this past weekend; the crowds seemed to like them a lot; not every day you get to see a 72 year old model on display. The "Miss Gold Rush" hydro won the speedboat class, as well as "Best Ship" special awards....I was really surprised by that; as they are so different from the normal entries at IPMS events. The next time the boats will be out in public will be the NNL South in Smyrna this fall........Matt
  12. Tamiya 1/12 Porsche 935 for sure; closely followed by the 934, and the 1/12 Mini cooper. The 1/6 Honda CB 750 is right at the top of the list as well..............Matt
  13. Here's a real hubless bike I spotted at an event a few years back; it was built at Amen chassis works in Sevierville Tn..Matt
  14. What the what??? Beyond description for sure..............Matt
  15. Austin; Bad News Bears for Cookeville! I have to be in Atlanta ; So I won't be at cookeville show this year.......Sorry dude; I am gonna miss being there for sure................Matt
  16. Just finished this one! It has a .60 super cyclone engine with Hemi twin plug head, and a Supercharger! Matt
  17. I'm sure you will get bunches of different answers here... We've all experienced a real budget buster at some point in our modeling lives. I can't speak for anyone but myself; as for me, I rarely even consider "budget" when building. You have to understand that I pretty much only build BIG stuff, which in itself "busts" many modelers budget....The price of the large tamiya kits has skyrocketed with every re-release, but that's what I like to build, so no choice really. Once you start adding on P/E sets, billet wheels, and all the other widgets, you have spent a few $$$. I also work primarily with automotive paints; which by far "bust" the normal spray bomb budget (these products have skyrocketed recently as well) and I can tell you that paying nearly $100 for a pint of custom mix basecoat is not unusual. Many guys will say that's crazy, and blah-blah-blah. but that's what it costs to do it the way I like to. For me the formula is pretty simple; If I want to build it; I build it, period....that's what I do. I think many modelers focus TOO much on cost.... For the money I spend, it's hard to find any other hobby that gives me the amount of enjoyment I get back out of it; and that's my CBA approach to my models..................Matt
  18. I really like the Spies - hecker automotive urethanes; they are just awesome to spray....they work well with nason intercote clear (clear basecoat) and final clears................Matt
  19. I have seen that resin kit on Ebay from time to time; and it is a "ficticious" lincoln motor....even so it is pretty cool; I have had recurring thoughts of trying to stuff one in a deuce! Matt
  20. The one I own....1981 town coupe with just 52K miles Matt
  21. I think I am also going to HAVE TO have one of these! Nice to see some modern subject matter this big; as for me; I will get a white one, regardless of factory finish, it's gonna get repainted. once I have one, I will decide the new color....but probably something wild............Matt
  22. Tom; Hold on to the old Reuhl tractors!!! They are all great pieces to have. The Bakelite tether boats do command some big prices; depending on what they are, and who owned or built them in some cases...I have seen some sell in beat up shape for less than $1000; but those usually have a small, run of the mill engine setup; and need complete restoration. The boat I am currently working on is that type of boat; although still well into the multiple thousands of dollar price range; and having already gotten the boat stripped down, I realized that this boat had never apparently been setup to actually run. It lacked an on/off switch between the battery box and coil; and didn't have a condenser on the ignition side....I will remedy these issues when the boat goes back together after the repaint, although I will not install tether mounts to the hull; as they are just too obtrusive in a display case. The other big value factor with these boats is the running gear/engine combination. Early and rare engines will often drive the boat prices up as well; as there is an entire segment of the hobby that collect the vintage engines as well. This boat has an original Super Cyclone 60 GR installed, with a twin plug head and an efficiency engineering supercharger! I have been fortunate to be able to do these projects for an avid tether collector and long time friend that has the "means" to collect them. I enjoy doing the engineering and building the boats and tether, and it's quite different from the "normal" plastic modeling that I do; PLUS; I don't have to PAY for,it!!! I do have a whole series of build pix from the last boat; I do build books for every one of these projects; and I intend to add a new section to my website just for the tether stuff; I just haven't gotten time to do it yet; Many Thanks ...Matt
  23. That's funny! My own daughter was just amazed by the "drink" button on the steering wheel of the ford gt ALMS car at my friends racing shop....she said "why can't I have that in my car"....Personally; I would have a "Latte" button for long road trips.......Matt
  24. The previous Emhar Bedford truck kits were Exceptional....you have not seen crisply molded parts until you have had one these kits in your hands. Squadron used to carry the emhar kits...Highly Recommended; and worth every penny! Matt
  25. Um; I'm In! It would be great to have a modern car to build in 1/8 scale....Can't wait............Matt
