  1. Bob; You get it! I wasn't sure HOW to read it at first...but I know you get it now....having been around the block at least a couple of times with this issue....I finally figured out the path of least resistance.....like you said.....Most modelers know WHAT it represents, so it doesn't really matter what I call it; well as long as I don't call it a TM name ..........Matt
  2. I am guessing that you guys are referring to my "yellow engine" ? I don't take any offense at all; it's just the easiest way to get parts and conversions out that are "similar" to real truck items.... I spent just about 400 hours mastering that one; and it's nice to be able to give other modelers the opportunity to use it in their trucks....BTW; If you liked the "yellow engine" moniker, you are gonna love the "motown six-oh!" in 1/16 scale ..........Matt
  3. If you try shooting a straight white base prior to the pearl white; I think you will find a much brighter and truer tone.....looks cool.............matt
  4. Cato; If this release is the same as the old revell issue; I did buiold this one years (decades) ago....The old version was very finicky.....lots of ill fitting parts....hinges abd such were just way out of scale....no matter how much effort went into it; it was still lipstick on a pig...not alot of support in 1/16 like nice wire wheels and such....just My 2 cents about the model..........hope it helps........Matt
  5. I agree...kitty power rules..............matt
  6. Alpine green is correct for 2 stroke detroits...the 60 would be detroit BLUE.....which is actually blue gray.............Matt
  7. Kinda cool; but I don't think any trucks I build would be short enough to fit on that base..........Matt
  8. Sorry Bandit....Alpine green isn't even the correct color for that engine series........Most likely would be blue/gray color of the 60 series....could even get by with silver from the silver series 60...I'm just sayin'.................Matt
  9. I know that scenario well....My cats also like to "help" in the shop on occasion......Matt
  10. Advanced plating in the Nashville area now has a process for doing "real" chrome plating on all types of plastics as well................Matt
  11. I like Tony's "gold nugget" ....Probably my all time favorite truck ever!!!! And I'm not even Australian (LOL) ....I can't wait to see his finished model...........Matt
  12. Sometimes, Patience is a virtue!!! The truck I am currently working was started last year; but that's what it takes making all new frame, cab, allison automatic, tires, suspension and interior. There are not many 1/16 scale aftermarket parts out there, so it just takes much longer to make the whole thing....as far as daily time; most days I get at least 3hrs at the bench; I just finished up 6wks of 15 hrs a day (7days a week) to get two projects done...sometimes, that's what it takes...........Matt
  13. Back to the BUS thread.....I did get the chance to really look at the Revell Prototype of the 1/24 London Double deck bus at the NNL in Atlanta last week; and have to say that bus fans will be pleased. Revell has done a great job with this kit...I am not certain; but maybe it's a bedford? Anyway, the bus lends itself to some interesting project ideas....perhaps the open top double decks you see in NYC??? Even though I don't really build any of the smaller stuff anymore; I am gonna have to get one of these kits...it's just TOO funky not to build...................Matt
  14. Tower hobbies already has the 1/16 Pete listed on their website as "order pending". If memory serves the listed retail is around $71.00.....sure beats the EBAY prices.....I know i will be getting a stack of them for posterity! My only hope is that the body set is molded white, like the last German Revell re-issue..........Matt
  15. Here's what I have been working on...A cafe racer conversion to fit ANY of the three Tamiya 1/6 scale Honda CB 750 kits....I did the Norton style tank; seat and tail section; the kit will also include the clip on bars; "CR" carbs, cone air filters, rearsets, small battery (relocated), new oil tank, and headlamp from police version (has built in speedo); for a clean top clamp...My prototype build up is getting real wire wheels; with machined hubs etc.....will make a neat cafe bike when done..........Matt
  16. Beautiful! I love those pocher Bugatti Cars.... They were truly rolling sculptures....Great worK Matt
  17. I keep my bulk resin sealed up in the fridge....when i need to use it; pull it out and let it rise to room temp for a couple days....works well for me with gallon jugs...once opened; even with a pump; it will go down hill quickly..........Matt
  18. Dave; Don't let it bother you....I have a home for your 12V71!!!! Matt
  19. I will pay attention to release dates for the 1/16 trucks...I have to make new molds for the Budd 2 hole conversion over the winter anyway...and if I can get a couple other projects out of the way; I may do a couple more engine choices (60 series) 1st.......Wasn't much interest in the Yellow inline 6...but I will grab a stack of the re-pop kits for sure....just to have 'em............Matt
  20. Here's the 2 956's I am currently working on....just sprayed the white and inter-coat clear...next is Rothmans blue..these will be the #1 & #2 cars from Lemans, 1982 Matt
  21. "Frenching" in is making the lamps or antenna "sunken" into the original location....usually the lamp bezel is welded into the body; the rear mounting is cut free and set deeper in the hole....this was very popular on Lead sleds....it can readily be achieved by simply cutting a piece of tube to size; opening a recess in the body....do a bit of finishing around the edges....and mount the sunken fixture from behind............Matt
  22. CTS-V Sportwagon Ford GT Lamborghini Espada Series I Or II 1960 Eldorado Biarritz Coupe Fiat Dino Matt
  23. Nice job on the JPS lotus...I would really like to have one of those DFV engines to stuff in a '32 ford............Matt
  24. Eric; Thanks....I did not know that..........Matt
  25. I have to agree with Doug...the dual action is much better; and works pretty well; I have had several of them over the years; when they finally do go south; just pitch it and buy a new one. They do lay down a pretty nice pattern; and have a good range of adjustability as well....good choice for a 1st airbrush...........Matt
