  1. I have an old issue of Hot Rod or maybe Car Craft (I'll have to check and confirm which) where the Silver Saphire is for sale in the classifieds at the back of the magazine. I think they wanted about $2,900 iirc! Since the family still has the car, I guess nobody was willing to pay that much for it! That was alot more money back in the sixties but it still doesn't sound like much for that car. BTW, speaking of a whole magazine for a quarter (or $0.50), I recently bought the entire 1963 year of Hot Rod for less than $10.00 on Ebay. That's less than a buck an issue and the wealth of legendary goings-on in 1963 is unbelievable. Fabulous reference material!
  2. Wow, CAL! That is one professional looking rig! BTW, they want everybody to put their real name in the signature line on this board. There's not many other rules! Welcome aboard.
  3. Took the words right out of my mouth...Very Cool!!
  4. Definitely a coin flipper this time. Let's see...heads...real!
  5. That MUST be real! I saw the picture on the 'net!
  6. I think the sedan delivery is a Jimmy Flintstone body. If so, it should be very good quality.
  7. OMG! You're doing about the only thing that could make "Frankie" any cooler. Putting tailfins on it!!!
  8. Krylon enamel?? If this is the stuff you're using, it's a lacquer and it sure will cause crazing on some Revell plastic!
  9. Apparently, the seller is also the resin caster so you can expect to see more of them up for auction soon. In fact, there is another one up right now. I don't know if he made the master or not. He had earlier sold a slush cast Hawk that I didn't bid on and I think he named someone else as casting it. It looked VERY similar to what he's selling now so I think that may have been used as a first generation master. I'll see if the slush cast is still in "completed auctions" and if so post some info about it.
  10. WOW! I love it! Been meaning to do a 59 Elk for a long time and I think it just moved up the list.
  11. Excellent stuff! Looks like you could re-enact the history of drag racing in the sixties all by yourself!
  12. Looks like my link to the Bay didn't work. Try this one if you're interested. If it still doesn't work you can probably search it out (How many Studebakers can there be on Ebay?) Stude GT Still didn't work!!
  13. There are newly cast resin Studebaker GT Hawks showing up on Ebay. That has always been one of my grail vehicles so I bought one for a fairly steep price (too much). I plan to do a full review of what I got later after I have the chance to take some pictures but the short story is that they're pretty rough. It looks to me like it will be usable to build an okay curbside after a good bit of work but that's probably because I'm a fanatic. In short, bid if you're like me and hafta have it but don't expect All-American Models or Modelhaus type quality. http://cgi.ebay.com/1962-Studebaker-GT-1-2...bayphotohosting
  14. Dr. Plastic, if you're still looking for that Cord sedan there's one on Ebay right now!! http://cgi.ebay.com/RESIN-1937-CORD-SEDAN-...1QQcmdZViewItem
  15. Welcome on board, Brian. According to Yahoo Maps you're only 1218.1 miles due north from me. Practically neighbors!
  16. Welcome Chris! Hope you have a good time here.
  17. That's beautiful and an excellent piece of work. It's so well done that it's hard to appreciate that so much is scratch built! Everything looks as good or better than if it was manufactured. WOW!
  18. Very cool, Fireguy! I like clean builds.
  19. Is the finished creation gonna be brought to life on Halloween?
  20. It's easy to picture that winning "People's Choice". Who wouldn't fall in love with that truly classic look!?!
  21. WOW! That's a beautiful thing! Box art build??? I'm curious, too. Is there a kit on the way?
  22. I love the concept! I'll be keeping my eye on this one.
  23. Last night I did some test painting with BIN and found out why it comes with that funny spray nozzle with a big hole. After a few sprays through a Krylon nozzle it clogs up completely. This wasn't a big problem because I had plenty of Krylon on hand and just popped a nozzle off another can and continued. The clogged nozzles cleaned up easily after soaking a few minutes in alcohol. But before I do any more BIN spraying I'll be sure to have extra nozzles and a small jar of alcohol handy. It does a great job of protecting sensetive plastics (recent Revell) from lacquer. I started with a primer coat of Mr. Surfacer 1200 (couldn't use my usual Krylon or Duplicolor primers) followed by BIN then put Duplicolor on top. Duplicolor would seriously etch the plastic before (even on top of Mr. Surfacer) but it worked perfectly with the bIN.
  24. I bought a can of BIN last night. Tonight I'll be finding out if it can protect the soft Revell plastic from automotive lacquer. Anyway, the story about it having a lousy nozzle is absolutely true. It looks like the hole is just too big. The good news is that Krylon nozzles (which I happen to have on hand) fit perfectly and solve the problem 100%. So if you have any Krylon around the house or use it to paint models like I do you can solve the spray nozzle problem easily.
  25. That has a real classic style. I can't wait to see it after you fix it up! AMT's original Deuce roadster from the Trophy Series was molded in black and came with a hemi so I'll bet you've correctly identified it.
