  1. Livin' large, Dude, livin' large!!
  2. "Wow! Look what you can do with body putty!"
  3. Similar to Foxer. I can't help myself! Saw some Big Daddy Roth creations years ago and just started rollin' down that lost highway.
  4. Thanks for all the positive feedback!! Like I said, this will probably be a slow moving project but with this kind of good response maybe I'll be inspired to stay on task. Thanks again. I really appreciate the support!
  5. This is my take on the Model King's re-pop of the AMT Imperial. It's gonna be a long term project with slow progress since I just don't have the time to put in on model cars right now but I plan to post updates as I can. The roof is from a 69 Riviera with a pretty good chop keyholed in and I plan to use the interior and wheels from the Riv also. The fins on the Imp just weren't quite enough for me so I stretched 'em a bit to suit some 56 Packard taillights from Replicas & Miniatures. The outrageous skirts come from the Imp kit. The hood's been louvered and the door lines are recut for a more custom look. Next step will be molding in a sort of frenched antenna in the middle of the rear deck and then some primer so I can check my work. I hope to update soon.
  6. I know a good reason to build "junk".... IT'S FUN!! I've only done one and it's far from the best I've seen but it's worth doing some more of them in between the "shiny" builds.
  7. I love it!! I actually own a copy of that mag and remember those days when NOBODY would be caught dead building something that was pure stock! No rules, just right.
  8. The Modelhaus sells a complete '56 Olds interior for $12.00. Sounds like a solution to the problem if you ask me!
  9. Holy Moly!!!! I give up! That's a thing of beauty!
  10. Even when Johan did the initial production runs of those and other kits in the 60's they were seldom molded in white plastic. You never knew what color a Johan kit would be. The first runs tended to be not quite so garish - usually pale blue or green or maybe tan. And, of course, every now and then they were white. This 1960 Chrysler (that I purchased from a bargain table in about 1965) was molded in white but I have several unbuilt 60's vintage Johan kits that are molded in various colors.
  11. Has anybody mentioned that The Modelhaus makes a resin kit of the '58 Mark III? Knowing Modelhaus, the quality is bound to be high.
  12. Did somebody say Studes?
  13. Since this has turned into a free-for-all, I'll throw one on the pile. See if you can ID this:
  14. I don't know about sleeper! I think that one would get my attention at a stoplight! Really cool build. There's attitude dripping off of that thing!
  15. How about some Studebaker Hawks? '62/63/64 GT Hawk would be great or a '57/58 Golden Hawk and a '56 Golden Hawk or Sky Hawk. I also agree with those asking for contemporary or at least recent everyday cars. I could stand to see some Nissan/Infiniti vehicles like a Maxima or G35 sedan. I'm kind of an old school guy but I look at the lines of some modern cars and see lots of custom lead sled type potential.
  16. Great stuff! I think Mercury styling (despite all the attention to 49's) has generally been under-appreciated. Your '59 is stunning and your '62 sure points out how classic that design was!
  17. That is just too cool! Very creative and downright amusing!
  18. Hi Stanley! Welcome to a great model building community. You'll have fun here. As far as posting pics, step one (IMHO) is to set up a Photobucket account - it's free. Without going into a lot of detail, save your photo on Photobucket, click on the "IMG code" version of it to copy it and then paste it into your post. Try it and this will start making sense!
  19. Wow! That's great stuff. I have one of those 1/48 kits unbuilt but I never imagined it like that. You've really opened my eyes to the possibilities!
  20. That is truly excellent artwork! If you're not a professional you could be.
  21. I recently saw an old (is there any other kind?) episode of "Mayberry" where Barney needed to get his car repaired. Barney's car was a '58 Edsel convertible with all emblems removed! As far as brands protecting their trademarks, they do need protective licensing agreements but they don't need to charge excessive amounts to do it. As long as an agreeement has been signed one dollar a year will protect the trademark.
  22. I figured this thread needed some model car content so here's a picture of a 1/25 scale resin cheeburger from Scale Equipment Ltd.
  23. That way of looking at it didn't occur to me but you're right. Those things are worth millions!
