  1. Has anybody mentioned that The Modelhaus makes a resin kit of the '58 Mark III? Knowing Modelhaus, the quality is bound to be high.
  2. Did somebody say Studes?
  3. Since this has turned into a free-for-all, I'll throw one on the pile. See if you can ID this:
  4. I don't know about sleeper! I think that one would get my attention at a stoplight! Really cool build. There's attitude dripping off of that thing!
  5. How about some Studebaker Hawks? '62/63/64 GT Hawk would be great or a '57/58 Golden Hawk and a '56 Golden Hawk or Sky Hawk. I also agree with those asking for contemporary or at least recent everyday cars. I could stand to see some Nissan/Infiniti vehicles like a Maxima or G35 sedan. I'm kind of an old school guy but I look at the lines of some modern cars and see lots of custom lead sled type potential.
  6. Great stuff! I think Mercury styling (despite all the attention to 49's) has generally been under-appreciated. Your '59 is stunning and your '62 sure points out how classic that design was!
  7. That is just too cool! Very creative and downright amusing!
  8. Hi Stanley! Welcome to a great model building community. You'll have fun here. As far as posting pics, step one (IMHO) is to set up a Photobucket account - it's free. Without going into a lot of detail, save your photo on Photobucket, click on the "IMG code" version of it to copy it and then paste it into your post. Try it and this will start making sense!
  9. Wow! That's great stuff. I have one of those 1/48 kits unbuilt but I never imagined it like that. You've really opened my eyes to the possibilities!
  10. That is truly excellent artwork! If you're not a professional you could be.
  11. I recently saw an old (is there any other kind?) episode of "Mayberry" where Barney needed to get his car repaired. Barney's car was a '58 Edsel convertible with all emblems removed! As far as brands protecting their trademarks, they do need protective licensing agreements but they don't need to charge excessive amounts to do it. As long as an agreeement has been signed one dollar a year will protect the trademark.
  12. I figured this thread needed some model car content so here's a picture of a 1/25 scale resin cheeburger from Scale Equipment Ltd.
  13. That way of looking at it didn't occur to me but you're right. Those things are worth millions!
  14. Really cooooool! I love those 60's Mopars. I have a few old Johan kits stashed away waiting to be kitbashed with some Lindberg running gear. You're providing some great inspiration!
  15. I'll second that vote for GM flat tops! They're among the most dramatically styled American cars ever and the '57/'58 Buick and Olds (below) ain't bad either. It seems that GM had a handle on how to design a 4 door in those days!
  16. My first impression says model. Maybe one big enough for kids to ride in. It just doesn't seem to be proportioned right for the real thing.
  17. That's correct, they're very similar. The differences would all be body and interior trim. It shouldn't be too hard to do a conversion. You can see the Impala on that site for comparison or I guess you can just look at the kit. I'm also surprised that it's a 2 door but that's how it looks!
  18. It apppears to be a Delray 2 door. BTW, if you're looking for old car brochures for reference material try this link! http://www.tocmp.com/
  19. Welcome aboard! I'm sure you'll enjoy this forum. Harry's list of tools is very good. The only things I might add would be some of those finger filing boards from the drug store beauty section in various grits and an X-acto (or similar brand) no. 13 blade. That's a micro-saw and I find I use it ten times more than my razor saw. Have fun and don't hesitate to join the discussion!
  20. I like a guy who can think outside the box!
  21. That's a really stylish build! The Cool Factor is way off the scale!
  22. I LOVE THAT! I'm having all kinds of ideas about things to do to one of those. Where did I put that Corvair engine?
  23. Actually, Plymouth never got a hemi until the new hemi in '64. The appropriate MoPar would be a Dodge. They had a small block version of the hemi and had some racing success with it in '56. They would've been more successful except for the Chrysler 300's with a bigger hemi! (Hint: Modelhaus offers a '56 Dodge!)
