  1. Excellent weathering! I love "real world" builds.
  2. AMT might have made a promo-based 3-in-1 kit of a '58 Merc in 1958 only but not since. Resin casters are the only game in town now. As was said, Modelhaus will be first rate but there may be other good ones, too.
  3. I love your stuff. It's better than the real thing!
  4. Thanks for coming to Ray's rescue, Bill!
  5. I'm sorry to hear about all their issues. They have some parts that I really want but I don't need the frustration!
  6. There were several years in the early sixties when the NHRA outlawed the use of fuels other than gas. I'm not sure about the other orginizations. If you read Hot Rod, Car Craft or Rod&Custom (all Petersen Publishing Co.) in those days you only heard about the NHRA because Wally Parks was head of NHRA and editor of Hot Rod. Anyway, I think fuel was allowed starting in '63. Fuel pretty much killed off the twin engine dragster because the limiting factor on speed became traction instead power. So I'd say if you build with two engines make it AA/D. If you build with one engine it could be either AA/D or AA/FD or even A/FD. Some of the fastest dragsters of the day were actually A/FD (look up Rivero-Weekly-Holding -Fox otherwise known as "The Frantic Four"). Once again probably because traction was so limited with the tires of the day, no downforce, etc. that you could give away a few cubic inches and still be just as fast.
  7. Wow! That is one of the finest racing photos I've ever seen! You can just feel the electricity that must have been in the air - true wheel to wheel action! That would've made a great "Real or Model." p.s., I vote "model".
  8. Cool little sleeper! That would look right at home at the drag strip or the grocery store. Nice engine detail and I love the color.
  9. Modelhaus has the '59 Imp steering wheel with no centering problem.
  10. I've seen plenty of 1:1 customs with no door handles but I think it's a model anyway!
  11. I'm glad it's been repopped. I bought one of the older issue intending to build it factory stock but as we speak it's been sliced every which way and covered in putty so I better buy another one if I'm gonna have that stocker!
  12. That is really cool! You deserve to be as proud as you can be. And it sure brings back memories of my early days discovering modeling. You know, it's NOT as easy as it looks! Your son has already discovered one of the basic laws of modeling. Keep up the good work. It looks like you're building something that's better than little cars. BTW, it's cool that the dino is 1/35 scale. Your son could build some military vehicles and make a monster movie scene!
  13. Just thought I'd give a mention to Best Resin. They were shut down for a long time due to problems on the home front but now they're back and a lot of people probably aren't aware. They did (or maybe still do) the resin work for the JoHan. Anyway, they have one of the best lines of resin parts I've seen especially things like induction setups (complete sidedraft Weber sysytems, Carter AFB's, etc.), various standard and auto trannys, Columbia rear end, etc. Lots of stuff you can't find anywhere else. You should check it out! http://www.bestresin.com/Index%20new.htm
  14. I love that! The stock '57 Bird is one of my all time favorites so I'm surprised that it modernizes so well. Great job!
  15. Lookin' good!!
  16. Wow! 28 in a year! You're way more productive than I am and it looks terrific too.
  17. I recommend keeping the next one in the garage so that won't happen! That's great work. It has that real car look that's difficult to get in weathering.
  18. Must be the see-thru version!
  19. Merry Christmas to you Marcos and a happy holiday to everybody on this forum. I really do feel like a part of a great community here and I hope everyone has the best year ever in 2008!
  20. Here's some more photos of the same model. It's really amazing but I'm not gonna tell you where these photos come from because I have a feeling that Harry might be planning to tap this same source again in the future. Good luck hunting for it!
  21. WOW! Just WOW! That's a knockout!
  22. That's turning out great! Really outside the box (pine box?). Let's just hope the dearly departed will fit in a small size coffin!
  23. Will that be part of a full kit release or is it a parts pack type of thing?
  24. Just in case nobody's told you lately, those are really cool, clean looking builds!
  25. Looks excellent! I really love the oldie pickups. I had been wondering if Lindberg's not so great '32 pickup would make a good trans kit for the Revell Deuce but that's not an issue any more. You know Replicas & Miniatures stuff is gonna be good!
