  1. Very cool! I'm a big Studebaker fan and I really like what you're doing with the headlights. I'll be following this with great interest!
  2. There's not much I can add about glues that these guys haven't said but I can say "Welcome to the hobby!!" It's always great to see new people getting involved. You've come to the right place to learn. The assortment in that photo sure looks a lot like what's on my work table - except neater!
  3. Revell seems to be on a roll these days as far as issuing really good new product but I was put off by Revell kits in the past because the plastic was very sensetive to the automotive paints that I tend to use. Have they addressed that problem or do you still have to take extra steps to protect the plastic when you use auto paint?
  4. Gotta love it!! I can just imagine how cool I'd look behind the wheel of something like that! Good work!
  5. BTW, I neglected to mention it before but that's a fabulous piece of work. I can only imagine your feeling of loss after putting in so much effort, energy and creativity. Good luck recovering it no matter how slim the odds are.
  6. That's a real longshot, too. I doubt that anybody who would enter or attend the Nats would want to steal somebody else's model. They want to build one!! It was probably stolen by somebody who couldn't imagine such a model in their wildest dreams.
  7. Welcome! So sorry about your job situation. I hope the forum can help take your mind off of the less pleasant things. I know everybody here is ready to help you enjoy.
  8. Wow! Great save! The '60 Merc is one of my all time favorites and you did it proud. Give the man a Nobel Prize or something!
  9. Max Mosley is a guy who has dillusions of being Tony George and since Indy Car racing is already totally messed up he's gonna do it to F1!
  10. Did anybody know that AM General is basically the last surviving piece of American Motors?
  11. I bought one of the 1/6 scale 427 cammers on Ebay last night! Mostly because it was cheap (about $10 bucks plus shipping) and because it will be real attention getter when the local club sets up displays. Just couldn't pass it up at that price. I AM NOT going to build a 1/6 scale gasser!!
  12. Very cool looking!! It's easy to see the debt it owes to Revell's Lincoln Futura kit. Since the Batmobile started life as the Futura it might be cool to use the big Lincoln engine from AMT's '25 T kit.
  13. I've decided to name this creature after my favorite movie star... MOTHRA! Here's some shots from the first up on wheels test fitting. As you can see it's in primer now. Time to get to work on the interior!
  14. That's lookin' REAL good! I love to see in-line engines in rods.
  15. Well, I went with the crowd this time and voted "real". There are just too many things that say REAL but I wish I had voted "model" because if it does turn out to be a model I could claim to be genius!
  16. I just voted for the Hemi. In the real world that would be a really tough choice. Lotsa good reasons to use the Chevy but in the model car world, why make sense? Hemis are koool! Of course, for a different kind of cool, I'm on board with Ed. Flatheads got class!
  17. Crash?? Like the sound when I'm trying to put my latest build on the display shelf? Welcome to the forum. May all your crashes be into bed at night!
  18. How about the Studebaker GT Hawk? As for more recent cars, I'm fond of the Bristol Fighter: Of course, there's a lot of good to what Jairus said!! My '99 Maxima has almost 200,000 miles on it and still starts every time and drives great. Bought it new and it's been bulletproof!
  19. Welcome aboard! You'll find this is a warm and comfy place compared to "The Other Forum." Lotsa "free spirits" around here!
  20. I'm gonna be a maverick and say it's a model. A mighty impressive model but something just doesn't look right. Maybe it's the tires. Anyway, if I'm right I get to laugh at everybody! What's the fun in going with the crowd?
  21. It could be Commander or a Champion and still be a Starlight. The designations Starlight and Starliner were for body styles not model lines. I'm not sure what designation a convertible would have had in 1950. In the case of the '53 (a very popular kit), Starlight meant the 2 door "post" and Starliner meant the "hardtop" (no post) and, yes, they could have been either Champions or Commanders. In '53, Champions had six-cylinders and Commanders had V-8's. In 1950 Studebaker didn't offer a V-8 yet so I'm not really sure how to tell them apart.
  22. WOW!!!! That's a LOOKER! Great job!
  23. I had seen that site before and it's very interesting but I'm not sure it answers the primer question. They are using spray-on bed liner material on the undercarriage.
  24. Replicas & Miniatures doesn't have a web presence. You'll have to use snail mail but they're worth the extra effort. Their catalog is extensive and full of really great stuff. I haven't checked in with them lately but if they said they have the correct valve covers then they probably do. Replicas & Miniatures Co of Maryland 317 Roosevelt Avenue S.W, Glen Burnie, MD 21061 410-768-3648 As far as 300C references, well, I'm no expert but you might want to register with these folks: http://www.allpar.com/forums/ I did that to get some info when I was building a '64 Belvedere and these guys will know about the 300C and whatever other Mopars you might want to know about.
  25. Bulls eye!! You got me! I love it! That's a great looking build of a favorite old Mopar and it really looks like the kind of mild custom that you might see out on the street or in somebody's driveway. Keep it up!
