  1. WELCOME!! I've seen your work in MCM so I know you'll be much, much more than welcome here. Your stuff is terrific.
  2. Well, I just voted "real". If this turns out to be a model you're really gonna slam dunk us this time!
  3. Krylon has recently been drastically changed. I've used it for years almost interchangeably with Duplicolor. The only potential problem was that sometimes there was a tendency for masking tape to lift one off of the other when removed and even that could be avoided by very careful removal. At that time Krylon was a lacquer - now it's an enamel and even some Krylon clearcoats are not compatible with the Krylon colors. They've messed up what was a really good paint system. This news has been all over other types of modeling forums but seems to have bypassed automotive modelers somehow. Here's a link to a rocketry site. You can find lots more about this on other forums. http://www.rocketryforum.com/showthread.php?t=774 I understand that the old formula is still available as Krylon Industrial but I'm sure it will be a lot harder to find. Fortunately, I still have some of my favorite old Krylon colors socked away.
  4. I'm guessing that as part of the "one model" deal, that trailer will be filled with model cars. Hey, they're only cargo!!
  5. Welcome to the forum and the hobby!! I'll stay out of the painting instruction mode and just say that you shouldn't get impatient and expect great paint jobs right away. I think almost everybody on this forum will tell you that painting just has a learning curve and you'll improve over time. Stick with it, try out advice from the forum if it sound good to you and after a while you'll have a method that works for you. Don't be afraid to try things. And you came to the right place. This is the best forum for the model car hobby! BTW, I don't remember where I got this info - maybe on another forum - but Krylon has changed their formula and the new Krylon is NOT compatible with the old Krylon. So beware! The old formula is still available as Krylon Industrial but it probably won't be available at the usual retail outlets. I haven't had a chance to try the new formula but I'm told that it's an enamel. BTW#2: The UFO in my avatar was painted with Krylon straight from the rattlecan. It looks good if you don't look too close!
  6. A few years back I checked the wheelbase on the Johan '62 Studebaker Lark against the real car specs and if I remember right it was about 1/23! Whatever it took to fill the box!
  7. I say the house is definitely real!
  8. That's really cool! Sounds like you put in a lot of work and lot of thought to get it like that. Great job! I tend to agree with Ed Shaver that it must have been based on the old JoHan tool but I don't really know either. It's just hard to imagine that somebody at AMT woke up one day and said "Hey! Let's tool up a Rambler snap kit from scratch!"
  9. MAN!! That thing looks good enough to eat! Maybe some model company (hint, hint) will see this and issue some new tailfin era kits. The '60 Buick (and the '59) would be a great start. Beautiful work. You saved great a one!!
  10. I still don't believe it. Those are photos of a real Land Rover being serviced by a giant!!
  11. Welcome!! Your trailer is just too cool!! I'll look forward to more of your work.
  12. The ZIL was even more Packard than the Chaika (The Chaika looks like the love child of a Packard and a Checker to me). The ZIL is what the commie bigshots used as a limo for many years. Here's a couple of pics:
  13. The bylaws of the hobby specifically prohibit any assistance from small furry animals! That's a shame because otherwise it's a really cool build! Looks great, man!
  14. Just thought I'd chime in to second the opinion that you ought to write a book. I haven't been much of a fan of modeling books in the past but your way of presenting things makes the subject very understandable. Of course, nothing more needs to be said about your skills and techniques - every modeler would love to learn that.
  15. This build shows that, despite all the talk about inaccuracies in that kit, it can be made into very sharp model that displays great. Good work!! (Of course, I'll probably never get past the six cylinder distributor but that can be fixed.)
  16. Definitely sounds like many Revell kits of that time and even somewhat earlier. The Mickey Thompson Challenger kit features four Pontiacs with the internal details and, as George 53 said, the Roth kits and others had that also. I have a Challenger kit stashed away and I tell myself that one of these days I'll build it with one engine torn down. Don't hold your breath!
  17. WOW!! It takes a minute for your eyes to adjust and take it all in but it all works somehow. Great imagination and design!
  18. Nice job! You did it proud. That's as classic a hot rod as you'll ever see and obviously a classic kit, too. Beautiful!
  19. WOW! YOU ARE THE MAN! That car has always blown me away also but never in my wildest dreams have I thought about building one! BTW, its appeal seems to cut across generations. My teenage daughter thinks it's the coolest thing she's ever seen.
  20. OMG!! That is SWEET! Pretty on the outside and pretty in a different kind of way when you pop the hood!
  21. Hey, Ed! I really love your tanker! It has "the look". You know, like it could pass for the well used real thing. Great work!
  22. The old eyes are gettin' fuzzy!
  23. I don't know about the color but I know that's a Plymouth - not a Dodge!

    T Time

Of course, it's always best to believe it when you see it but there's a release date of December '09 for the Double T! http://www.round2models.com/models/amt/25ford-t
