  1. I add my vote for Harry's round headlight version! 100% better and even manages to suggest the old VW bus a little bit. Is VW listening in? I think this consumer focus group is telling them that they messed up!
  2. Excellent! Really has "the look". P.S. - Don't forget to trim the windshield wiper motor off the top of the firewall.
  3. Does that mean that we can have an Auto ID Quiz for the rest of this week??
  4. My workroom has vinyl tile flooring from Home Depot similar what's at this link: http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&productId=202191231&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&MERCH=REC-_-product-2-_-202191235-_-202191231-_-N&locStoreNum=577 Can't beat it! Looks great, easy to clean and doesn't eat small parts. The cost is reasonable and the city's paying anyway.

    Ford-49

I think it looks cool both ways! Great job!
  6. Life imitates art imitating life? These guys have a similar idea using an F-104. http://www.landspeed.com/ Great concept and an excellent build!
  7. Thoughts and prayers comin' yer way, Ed! Hang in there and keep us posted on the progress I'm sure you'll be making.
  8. That looks great!! I'm imagining that you don't have to have all the blades in it and that you can vary the size of the spacers. If that's the case It would be very useful. A little pricey.
  9. You did a beautiful job!! I have nothing but admiration for guys who will even attempt a 1/87th kit like that, let alone do a great job. Don't ask me to try it!
  10. That depends on the class that they're entered in. Turismo Producion uses original engines. Turismo Mayor is a lot more wide open and the winning Studebakers are running what amounts to a NASCAR small block Chevy. They've been known to top 190 mph during the event on public roads that aren't even closed!

    AMT 25 T

    Sweet and clean! Beautiful work.
  12. That is a model, right? Just thought I'd check! That's about the most believable weathering I've ever seen!
  13. WOW! Way too pretty to race but if you're like me you'll do it anyway! Great job.
  14. I agree that's it's too fuzzy for stock carpet but it's just about right for some 1960's custom cars. I think they used yak fur!
  15. Ain't that the truth!!
  16. I've used Testors bonding spray, Clear Krylon, and clear Duplicolor and they all work fine. Right now I'm using this stuff that I get at Hobby Lobby. You have a choice of gloss or matte so if you're making a decal to go on a battery or such that should have a flat finish you can do that.
  17. Wow! That's the way that car is supposed to look! Great job.
  18. Personally, I think this looks better than any of the Camaros that Chevy actually built. Great idea!!
  19. I had one of those back in the day - but it never looked that good! Great job!!
  20. It was in the instructions for the very early issues of the kit, maybe only the first one. Hasn't been on the instructions in years.
  21. That's as sweet a Merc as I've ever seen!
  22. I agree. The wheel/tire combo looks good on the front but they don't really fill the rear wheel wells enough and the stance looks a little low in the back. But overall that's a great looking build especially for just the second one!! I'm glad I don't still have my second build to show you! Keep it up!!
  23. The sail panels combined with that pleated piece made a cantilever style roof that you used in place of the bubble. Here's a picture of the kit with the guard on the blower drive: After I looked around on the net I found some pictures of the real thing with the guard on it so I guess it was used sometimes.
  24. That's exactly right! I had the old issue back in the day and those parts are to allow you to build "custom" or "competition" versions. Pretty ridiculous but that's what was expected at the time - everything had to be some kind of 3 in 1. Also, on the chrome tree there's a version of the blower drive with a guard on it that, as far as I know, was never used on the real thing.
