  1. Perfect! Besides being just a great and beautiful build, it totally "captures" the look of that era! Great stuff!
  2. Wow! I wish that had been true a few years ago!

WOW!! And then WOW again!! Did I remember to say WOW? I'm gonna print those pics to keep in my reference files and remind me of how it's supposed to be done. You just caused me a lot of trouble re-doing the interior on my current build. It just doesn't look good enough any more! Well, maybe I can keep the dash. BTW, I just love the "princess" phone!!
  4. When you consider Pace paint booths be sure to find out what it costs for shipping. I was ready to buy one at one time but when I saw the shipping cost I decided it was out of my price range!
  5. That's great!! Excellent build and you gotta love the subject matter. I wonder if there's a way to stuff a hemi in there?
  6. This is not an issue for me. I make sure that all of the flaws in my models can be detected without the aid of assistive technology of any kind!
  7. Welcome, Rob! This a great site. Everybody's friendly. It's the only forum I ever use anymore. Just relax and make yourself at home!
  8. I love it! Those headers are TOO coooool! Can't wait to see the build-up.
  9. Welcome aboard! This is a great place. Lotsa cool people and creative thinking around here. Tips and Tricks section is a wealth of info and Real or Model is always fun. Enjoy!!
  10. That sounds really rough! I hope you feel better real soon so you you can get back to life and model building. Good luck!
  11. I hate it when that happens!! And it happens to me more and more these days!
  12. I think Mark is basically right. As somebody who was there back in the day, I can tell you that the AMT kit is an absolute classic and I still enjoy building the old AMT stuff. They can come out looking really good...BUT they are not up to modern standards. You need to give them a little TLC and understanding to make a good build. Revell, on the other hand, is cranking out the "new classics" right now and if you like Duece Coupes I'll bet Revell's will knock your socks off!
  13. I think it's a model - a really good one! It's just too crisp, clean and straight to be real car that actually ran at Indy 92 years ago. Of course, I think it's in a museum somewhere now and they might have restored it to better than new.

Great re-styling! I've always thought that the beetle was just waiting for somebody to bring out the great lines that are kind of hidden in it. Excellent job!
  15. Guys, is this the right stuff? I've been wanting to try Eurosoft and I want to make sure I know the right thing when I see it. Product lines can sometimes be confusing!
  16. That chassis is about the coolest thing I've ever seen! I never took this kit seriously before now but I'm wondering what other cool things could be done with one. Great work!!
  17. I plan to try doing some as decals. It'll probably be a while before I get around to it but when I do I'll post some photos. It's surprising how many styles of headlights you can find on the net and that's just plain round ones. I've built up a little library of headlight images to choose from: modern singles, old Ford, quads, Cibie, etc. This is a great tip! I really appreciate it!
  18. Great suggestions, guys! Printing out real lights is kind of brilliant!
  19. Probably everybody is familiar with headlights that are molded as part of a chrome grille. Not done much anymore on new toolings but that's how it was done for a long time. I know they can be drilled out and replaced with aftermarket or spare lenses but when I don't want to go that far, is there a painting technique that will make them look realistic? I've painted them flat white or flat aluminum before just to make them stand out from the surrounding chrome and it's okay but not very real looking. Has anybody found something that really looks good? I guess another question would be; if there's not a good way to paint them, is there a good source for aftermarket headlight lenses?
  20. As I remember it (been a long time), at the Don Garlitz Museum there is a 1936 Ford cabriolet with only a few hundred original miles on it. It was used to drive around someone's estate and has NEVER been registered for the street. That one is SWEET!!!!!
  21. Nice job, man! Very clean sharp looking build. Looks like the box art!
  22. Very cool! I'm a big Studebaker fan and I really like what you're doing with the headlights. I'll be following this with great interest!
  23. There's not much I can add about glues that these guys haven't said but I can say "Welcome to the hobby!!" It's always great to see new people getting involved. You've come to the right place to learn. The assortment in that photo sure looks a lot like what's on my work table - except neater!
  24. Revell seems to be on a roll these days as far as issuing really good new product but I was put off by Revell kits in the past because the plastic was very sensetive to the automotive paints that I tend to use. Have they addressed that problem or do you still have to take extra steps to protect the plastic when you use auto paint?
  25. Gotta love it!! I can just imagine how cool I'd look behind the wheel of something like that! Good work!
