That looks really great! My favorite thing about it? The subtle two tone on the upholstery!
-
That other vehicle next to the Merc must be "The Little Rat Wagon"! That's a great build...love the look!
-
WOW! Beautiful work and with that paint job you don't have to worry about it not getting noticed!
-
I seen that car modeled many times but that's the best one I've seen yet! The look is totally real. Great job!

Format of Posts on Forum
mr moto replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I guess there's not any way that we could each select the format that we like, is there? -
Tough break with that layoff!! (Been there) I wish you good luck finding something better. In the meantime, I really love that build. I always go for style... a look, I guess you could say, and that's got it. Beautiful work and good luck again.

That's a work of art!
-
I love that! It has the perfectly balanced street/show look. Very clean build, too!

Now that's some art that's easy to appreciate!

I've always been hesitant about posting my builds for some reason but I'm finally going to break down and post some pictures. I borrowed a camera from the office and signed up for Photobucket so here's my first attempt. The model is the AMT 53 Stude decked out with tailfins, front and rear pans, slight top chop/restyle and the windshield converted to a wraparound. I used Revell's early Cad V-8 which was a favorite to swap into 1:1 Studebakers back in the day - it fit like a charm. I look at a lot of old car magazines that I get off of Ebay for inspiration and my concept for this build was the kind of streetable custom that you might have seen in the pages of Rod & Custom back in the early 60's. You can't see much of the interior in the photos but it has four individual buckets, a full length console and a 1960 Plymouth steering wheel. Paint is Duplicolor Seattle Silver with a Cobra Colors clear coat.

I think it's great! Extremely stylish, a very clean building style and that "Brand X" paint job is amazing!

I enter local contests and enjoy them as much as anybody. They are a great way to reach the public but I know that the contests and winning are not what the hobby is about and they're not the only way to show the public about our hobby. Our local club (and just having a local club is one good way to make your presence known) sets up displays at a couple of local libraries and we're expecting to expand them to more. We also have a very fine local museum (USS Kidd) that invites us to put on modeling demos once a month. The demo mostly consists of several members sitting in the lobby working on models and we talk to whoever comes by and shows an interest. So if contests aren't your thing there are other ways to share the hobby with others!

Wow! I want to join your club but I guess Baton Rouge to Stockholm is a little far to travel to meetings!

The forgotten scale
mr moto replied to BIGTRUCK's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I really like 1/32 but it's hard to find good kits so I seldom build in 1/32. I have plans to make a lakester using a belly tank from a 1/32 scale Revell-Germany P-38 airplane and a nailhead motor from an old Lindberg hot rod kit. Here's a picture (if it works) of my AMT (Matchbox) MG-TC. -
Just checked out their site and those bodies look great. Even if they need some cleanup it will probably be a lot less work than I have to do to convert old 1/32 shelf model kits. This will probably inspire me to build some new cars!

Here you go! There's plenty of 'em on Ebay. The actual link is so long that I won't post it but this is how you get there once you're in Ebay-land. Toys & Hobbies> Models, Kits> Search Results for 'dog' And here's a seller with an Ebay store that has lots of different breeds in 1/25: http://stores.ebay.com/My-Shack-Diecast-and-Resin

mr moto replied to MrSnuffle's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Hi, Mr. Snuffle. I love the name! Anyway, I don't know where you're located but I would recommend that you check the "Model Car Clubs" section of the forum and see if there are any clubs in your area. If so, I'm sure that they would enjoy demonstrating what to do and answering any questions that you can come up with. Good luck! I hope you enjoy this hobby as much as the rest of us. -
That has got STYLE!! I just love it!
-
That's a great job! You both should be really proud. Of course, this is a little embarassing for all us Manly Macho Modelbuilders!

Now that's what I call ORIGINAL box art. It even has the ad for the AMT lacquer that hasn't been available for decades! -
Does anybody make a '63w Plymouth?
mr moto replied to mr moto's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for. It's cheaper than what the Johan '63 Plymouths are going for on Ebay and I won't have to convert it from a Fury hardtop to a Savoy sedan. Beautiful! -
I guess the title just about says it all. I'm thinking about building the Melrose Missile III and I'm wondering if there are any '63 Plymouth 2 doors out there, preferably a Savoy 2 door sedan (post). What's the word?
-
Thanks for the info. It'll be interesting to see your solution and how it comes out! Despite the challenges, it sure is a lot of fun converting the old 1/32 kits into slot cars. BTW, you did a great job of fitting and cleaning up that multi-piece body! It looks like it was molded in one piece.

Endbell (If I can call you by your first name!), when you convert one of the old Revell 1/32 scale bodies how do you make windows for them? The kit recommended method of cutting from flat celluloid doesn't seem to work real well for the deep compound curves on things like the Chrysler.
