  8. Sorry Central European SummerTime forgot it. And that means it is over, but in this case deadline is extended to 11:30 PM CEST
  9. I'm sorry that I had forgotten to announce the time zone. I promise that I'll add it in the next quiz. This time I was looking for a 1963 Rambler American 440 H. In 1963 the model designations was changed from 400 to 440. Along with this a new hardtop was introduced. The roof line mimics the appearance of of a closed convertible roof. The top line model - 440H- was equipped with front bucket seats, center console and the 138hp , 195.6 cui inline 6 engine. A few member said 1963 Rambler American 440 but that wasn't close enough because you can spot the front bucket seats through the rear window. The following members sent in "1963 Rambler American 440H" : Richard Bartrop otherunicorn DonW Draggon Thom Well done, congratulations!
  10. Time for a new One-Off Build This car is a forgotten Ford concept from 1968. It is called Ford Techna. Some automotive historians have said that the 1968 Techna could be the first vehicle to describe the term “concept” published by an American automaker. A technical report paper for the SAE, the Society of Automotive Engineers also included the terms “Dream Car” or “Idea Car.” The Techna concept was created and designed to explore new approaches in engineering, including the areas of vehicle packaging and body construction. Ford Motor Company said, “The Techna is a functional engineering experimental car of the future, unveiled by Ford Motor Company. It features new ideals in safety, body and technology.” The correct answer were sent in by: Bucky Raoul Ross Ace-Garageguy Otherunicorn gbtr6 thatz4u Matt Bacon Congratulation, well done!
  11. The first new auto quiz had been finished. This is a 1970 Karmann Ghia TC, under this name was the car sold in Brazil. Not a Volkswagen or a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. Based on the Karmann Ghia Typ 14 Karmann do Brasil this 2+2 Coupe. It was designed by Girogetto Giugiaro. A 4cyl. VW Typ 3 1600 ccm engine with 65 HP powered the car to a max. speed of 145 km/h. 18,119 cars were build for the South American market from 1970 - 1976. It was presented at the 1970 Auto Salon Sao Paulo as a Karmann Ghia TC 145. No one had sent in an answer with the 100 % correct year range or make. Most of you sent in a range of years and Volkswagen or VW or Volkswagen Karman Ghia. THe only thing that all answer had correct was the TC. So what should I do, simple answer. I would accept every answer that in incudes: 1. Correct years of manufacturing 1970 - 1976 2. If there is Karman(n) mentioned as make 3.includes TC otherunicorn Bucky Ace-Garageguy gbtr6 Raoul Ross blunc thatz4u TarheelRick
  12. I had thought about it, my reaction on it and what I'll be changed. Yes I'll continue with it, but with with a big difference. I'll post only the quiz picture and its answer to the quiz. If someone will break the rules, I'll cancel the quiz with the following comment in the head line: "Canceled!" "PM" will be replaced by "Personal Message" for those who are not familiar with the acronym "PM" There will be no further comment from me about the one who ignore the quiz rules. I'll also publish no hints or other clues that lead to the solution. All participants will be informed if there answer when the quiz is over Every quiz will get a deadline. I'm open for your comments.
  13. The quiz will be on hold and I‘ll come back later with an announcement.
  14. Let me throw my words into the ring as the quiz organizer. Yes my reaction is harsh and yes I think that a name should be said if somebody doesn't stick to the rules of our quiz. If I had offend you, my apologies your name is deleted from the thread. There is pinned thread that describes the rules in the hope that nobody will write the answer in the quiz thread. But there are still guys who ignore this thread, therefore I write down the rules in every weeks quiz thread. But even that didn't work. The other thing is that you where informed from other members about your mistake, and nothing happend from your side. Usually the guy who did such a mistake had deleted his comment in the quiz thread. But your answer is still part of the quiz thread. This kind of reaction. Even the answer is wrong or partly wrong like your answer the quiz has to be cancel immediately. Do to the time delay from the USA to Germany sometimes I'll be to late to see it early enough. If you stay with the rules and sent a PM with the answer in a future quiz, you are welcome to participate any of our quiz. I hope my apologies for my harsh reaction had reached you and we get back to our regular quiz soon. Thanks for your understanding.
  15. Unfortunately someone was not able to read the rules of our truck or auto or one-off quiz. I think that it is sometimes better to read the rules instead of writing answer without knowing the rules! For all these are the rules. No answers allow in the ongoing Truck or Auto or One-Off quiz thread No comments in the ongoing Truck or Auto or One-Offquiz thread that give any clues or suggestion to the car in question A PM must be sent to the one who has started the ongoing thread The PM must contain Year, Manufacturer and Type In case of offending the rules the quiz will closed immediately and no winners will be announced.
  16. Let me give you a hint. The company was an independent metal fabricator known as major supplier for body components. They had build a similar concept before the one in this quiz for one of the Big Three. But like this car, it doesn't attracts the management. The trunk lid featured the name of a subsidiary of the company which doesn't belongs to the Big Three. The name plate is today missing and it is in museum of the one of the Big Three. Thats too much I'll stop here.
  17. In 1962 the independent metal fabricator Budd Company approaches American Motors Cooperation with a car for a new segment. Budd used any idea that they had presented to Ford a two seater T-Bird based on the Ford Falcon. But Ford didn't want it. So the modified a Rambler Ambassador into a two seater roadster the Budd XR-400. It is powered by 327 AMC V8 and could have been the AMC Mustang that never was. There were several reasons why AMC did jump into a ne market segment. American Motors’ President George W. Romney, who cemented the company as a maker of compact cars, left the company in February 1962 to run for governor of Michigan. The new model had very little interior room to compete successfully against other sporty compact cars such as the Chevrolet Corvair Monza and the Pontiac Tempest Le Mans. American Motors was developing entirely new models for 1963 and this was a major capital drain. Entering a completely new market segment with an unproven car could be a costly gamble. The company was itself working on a new compact fastback concept car called the Rambler Tarpon using the soon to be introduced third-generation Rambler American platform. SO Budd did some minor changes on the car and it was sold later to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. The correct answer were sent by the following mebers: gbtr6 Bucky Ricahrd Bartrop Ace-Garageguy thatz4u otherunicorn jokar124 Congratulations
  18. The solution of this quiz is 1963 Siam DiTella Argenta. This pickup was build from 1963 - 1966 in Argentina. Siam later Siam DiTella (Sección Industrial Amasadoras Mecánicas) was formerly a company that build refrigerator, backery machines and scooter. In 1959 they start building cars under license of British Motor Cooperation. This led to the Siam di Tella 1500; based on the British BMC Farina series of the late 1950s, using the front-end design of the Riley model. The 150 was followed by the Traveller station wagon, Magnette 1620 and the Argenta. The first series (1961 -1963) of the Argenta was based on the Morris Qxford, while the second series was based on the Siam DiTella 1500. 21. Most of the answer that I got where correct. I assume that this quiz was one of the easier ones. Utility coupe is the Australian version car with a cargo tray behind the cabine. In 1932 a unnamed woman wrote a letter to Ford of Australia letter were she was asking for "a vehicle to go to church in on a Sunday and which can carry our pigs or sheps to market on Mondays". The response from Ford Australia was the first utility coupe in 1934. This ute is a 1951 Ford Prefect A493A Utility Coupe. The A493A was build from 1949 - 1953 also as a 4 door saloon.
