Really cool build Jim
-
Same as everyone else has said, only more so - awesome build
-
Great build and a great car. But then I'm biased, here's a replica of my 1998 NB
-
Made some progress during the week - the rolling chassis is complete, lowered front suspension and basic plug wiring through drilled aluminium tubes. Tyres have had a few more coats of Citadel paint and some Tamiya gloss has been carefully applied to the body parts without too much reaction from the decals .

wonderful job - I love it!

Latest project on the go is the Revell 30/31 Model A Ford. I don't like the fit of the doors on the real car or the kit so I eliminated the hinges and added styrene strip so the doors fit flush. Chassis is a shortened '32 Ford sedan, engine will be the flathead from the same kit. Wheels are Radirs from the Thunderbolt kit, tyres from the parts box with hand painted whitewalls (only one coat so far - I use 'Warhammer' paint from Games Workshop for this). Unusually for me, paint is car paint from a rattle can (not Tamiya ). Comments welcome.

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated. More pics as requested.

Apologies for going off topic, but if I'm not mistaken, the photo was taken at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, probably the greatest all-round motoring event in the world. Where else can you see vehicles such as historic racecars of all types (including drag racers) from the early 1900's up to current cars, being driven competitively by current top drivers as well as by the original drivers (Stirling Moss, Fittipaldi etc)? Not to mention the classic cars in the concours display, present day supercars, design prototypes, hot rods, LSR cars and one-offs etc etc - a must for any petrolhead. If I am mistaken, Goodwood FOS is still probably the greatest all-round motoring event in the world

This is yet another '32 to add to my collection. The 16 individual panels were cut from thin wood veneer - they are a lighter shade than the real car for two reasons - one, I prefer this colour and two, it's the only colour I have. The rear lights and other detail parts are from a Model Car Garage photoetch sheet for the '32 coupe, the paint is Tamiya TS44 blue straight from the can. The wood surrounds were sprayed with Tamiya USAF tan and then drybrushed with some Humbrol enamels before clearcoating with Future polish.

After the DTM Audi, back to more familiar territory for me. I am reluctant to show a WIP in case it goes pear-shaped, but this is almost complete so hopefully will be a successful outcome. Box stock build apart from engine wiring, liberal use of MCG photoetch and cutting out 16 pieces of thin veneer for the wood panels. The wood frame was painted using Tamiya USAF Tan and then drybrushing with Humbrol enamels and clearing with 'Future'. Hope to get it finished by the weekend, have to affix headlights and bar (hate that part )

Thanks Paul, the more the merrier!

Actually, it's missing two rear view mirrors - the photos were taken at the weekend before the kit was finished. It now has a full complement of mirrors! Thanks for the favourable comments everyone, you can tell I really enjoyed this kit.

After finishing the Revell '48 Ford, I started this for a change of pace - the Revell AG Audi driven by Tom Kristensen. The car is insane and I had to buy it as soon as I saw the rear arches/wings. This kit is superb, I couldn't wait to get it finished. The parts fit and engineering are amazing, the kit decals are by Cartograph and a joy to use. This is one of the most satisfying builds I have had since I built the 1949 Merc .

revell 48 ford custom - painted and cleared

Cogatulations Mark - how's the second one coming along? -
After waiting a couple of weeks for overseas delivery, couldn't wait to get started on the kit. As usual, Tamiya rattle can paint (TS50 Mica Blue) and for a quick build of one week, stock apart from plug wires and a slight lowering of rear suspension. Interior is also Tamiya, light blue pearl and dark metallic blue. Can't wait to start on the next one, hopefully already in transit from the US

revell 48 ford custom - painted and cleared

Looking great so far - I was hoping to be the first with blue, but you beat me to it! Mine is Tamiya Mica Blue, yet to be sanded before a second coat of clear. -
Hi Phillip It's some mesh I had left over from a Tamiya kit - I'm sure you'll be able to get something similar at your LHS, or perhaps some fellow members in the US can direct you to an aftermarket supplier over there. Paul

Thanks for the kind comments guys - I really like these kits, just as well, having done 8 now Moparkid13 and Trogdor, I attach a couple more pics for you.

Regular viewers may recall my two previous attempts to create this replica - one ended up as a street machine, the other a gasser. Thankfully I managed to apply some autopaint I was happy with, bought from a local store - not Tamiya!! This is my sixth T'bolt racecar replica, and was built from the Model King release. Wiring was added, the teardrop vents opened and fitted with mesh. A great kit that goes together really well. Many thanks for looking and comments welcome.

This is my latest build, the Revell 1936 Ford Coupe/Cabriolet. As usual, paint is Tamiya (TS20), wheels/tyres from parts box. The kit is designed to have the top fitted after the interior is inserted - didn't fancy this so had to build up from underneath after top was blended in. The kit is a curbside 'cos I didn't know how things would work out. Thanks for looking.
