  1. The three spoke may not look exactly like your drawings but it still looks cool. In chrome, nobody would know you intended otherwise, even if only the smallest star was chrome. Salvageable.
  2. Messy, very. But I don't like filth, so I sand over a waste basket when I can and clean up debris and tailings every so often. However the clutter is at the verge of tolerability.
  3. The topic heading doesn't seem like that impossible of a question. I've done it a few times years ago, I just can't remember what it came to. It can't be to the penny, but you can estimate a percentage of the consumables you use and their costs and add it to the project specific receipts. Accuracy could be within a buck or so. I do seem to recall the hours spent was more disheartening than the money.
  4. I'd sure like to see more of this Christopher. I couldn't find it in a search Under Glass. If you never posted it, I'd be interested in seeing more of it there.
  5. Good info Plowboy. I think I've used most of the stuff mentioned above, but nothing really got after lacquer very well once it's etched into the plastic the way I would have expected the chrome undercoat would do. I'll look into your suggestion.
  6. Probably my favorite Petty car. I enjoyed the build and you did a great job. It's a beauty. Are those wheels the right scale?
  7. Okay, so how do you remove the lacquer? Doesn't it become one with the plastic itself?
  8. Jeepers have you got a good handle on the paint! Love the grill, it looks just right. Nice to see your work here Slusher.
  9. Wow, I must have been sleeping to miss this first time around. Stunning detail. Superior work.
  10. Was the part cold and dry then taken outside into hot and humid where condensation could have interfered?
  11. Beautiful factory stock rendition. Fresh.
  12. Well if ya gotta ask... who am I to be asked twice? Like the others, Revell body. Chassis from Round 2 Pinto Modified and lots of parts box stuff.
  13. I had a guy leave me neutral feedback because he didn't like how I worded his positive feedback. Go figure.
  14. Why is this a competition? What's the rush? The transaction isn't done until the buyer receives his product, is satisfied and all chance of dispute are past. Only then, buying or selling, do I leave feedback. As a seller I'm not going to leave feedback the moment the money arrives, only to have the buyer make accusations against me to get out of buyer's remorse. It's also not a standoff. "He didn't leave me feedback, therefore I won't leave him feedback." That's not honest. Feedback isn't cash. If they followed through with their end, I'll leave good feedback regardless. You can't know why someone didn't leave feedback first. Maybe he's waiting for you first. It just strikes me as kind of petty.
  15. Ever heard of Danica Patrick? My point is, back in the "the day" we had three networks and only a handful of races aired on TV... the big ones. The classic names became household words because they were put out there like superstars. Today's names are lost in the din of internet white noise and 70 basic cable channels and however many premium channels showing a hundred races across every league. Unless there is something marketable about a name that's bigger than the sport itself, you won't know the names at all unless you effort to follow them. They don't become part of the American vernacular unless there's something about them that, for better or worse, raises the sport to front page headlines. Essentially it was easier to be a known name back then. BTW Harry, almost everybody I know thinks they represent "average guy" sensibilities regardless of how conservative or downright cockeyed their agendas are. I was mostly with you until you said that. P.S. who's Albert Pujols?
  16. I've watched every race since about 1972. Before they showed it live on TV I'd listen to it on the radio, then watch the edited version on TV that night. It's a personal tradition that I don't expect my family or friends to understand so I don't talk it up a lot. The CART/IRL split is irrelevant today because CART is gone and the old guard CART people (Penske, Ganassi, etc) are on board at IRL so I don't see things better or worse. This is where we would have ended up anyway, very likely with the same drivers that ran yesterday. For a race that some don't consider relevant, viewership and track seating has expanded threefold. Just quietly.
  17. It's an ugly duckling that you didn't doll up. Good choice. You've done such great delicate detailing and weathering that it goes almost unnoticed, yet puts the piece in the big leagues. Excellent work.
  18. Actually they're not Photoshopped. A version of the Volkswagen came around with the World of Wheels show late 70's. About 1/2 or 2/3 scale with 1:1 engines and wheels. I built a couple of the model kits but did nothing for me. However I love seeing what people do with them. With respects to Jim Johnson of Minnesota, I think this is being converted (IIRC) from the Monogram kit. That's some wicked crafting.
  19. People who can make clean, accurate, well crafted paper models like this have my undying admiration. Beautiful piece.
  20. These are pretty confident answers. Thanks for the input guys.
  21. Absolutely superb. Hits all the right notes.
  22. I never think of this until I'm in the middle of it. How long after painting do you remove your masking? Too soon you get a gummy edge. A little longer you might pull up soft paint. Too long it chips. Scoring with a knife in detail areas undermines the detail of the masking.
  23. An awesome update and huge kudos to member Dwayne (D. Wayne) for coming through with a windshield frame that was missing for the Vette.
  24. I think this kit has a great engine for jump starting extra detailing and you did a great job with it.
  25. Excellent restrained and well thought out weathering. Good luck!
