  1. CAUTION - RANT: Pretty aggravating, I've finally got all evening to model. Can't do anything until I spray paint. It's all masked and ready but the humidity is 82-percent with a 72 dew point. As my work-mate says, "muggy death." I don't want to chance it but I also don't get building opportunities like this that often. Come November this will be fun to look back on.
  2. They can't show everything online or it would undermine interest in the show before it airs.
  3. There sure have been some killer Monte's the last few months and this one is no exception. Really wonderful.
  4. Wonderful, fresh take on the TA. I never liked the ground effects on these GM cars, so to see it clean is just... fresh.
  5. I never tire of seeing those artillery wheels on vintage speed subjects. Excellent choice.
  6. It's 100-degrees and muggy today in Fargo. What the...? What happened to the North Dakota I used to know? That one (energy efficient) window air conditioner and a fan for the whole house just doesn't cut it these last many weeks. The good news is that AC is in my model room. The bad news is I need to spray paint.
  7. First of all, I love this thing! But it looks like a recipe for bankruptcy. Certainly looks like there are some aircraft parts in there.

    62 Impala

Absolutely superb. A delight to look at.
  9. The whole thing looks really wicked Michael! Don't blow it.
  10. The doors just keep on opening for you my friend, it's a rite of passage and looking at the doors that temporarily remain closed will only frustrate you. Good things come to those who wait and anything worth having is worth waiting for etc, etc, etc. Don't hate me, but impatience is a quality of being 16. I think the other statements above reflect the rest of what I wanted to say.
  11. Yah, you betcha then. Prowler needs a jump. Point of irony, I just had a long session yesterday working mono-y-mono on a theatre promotional layout with "kidnapped wife, Jean Lundegaard," Kristin Rudrud. Though I've spent about two hours with her the last couple days, I did not bring up the movie.
  12. Whoa! This one speaks to me.
  13. Yeah, and bring your trades to Junior's house. He may be a hobby store unto himself.
  14. X2 Rob. Except for the 6am part. I can usually get a grip by 2am.
  15. I would be remiss if I didn't add that I'm thrilled to see people's entries here. They are both intimidating and inspiring at the same time. Remember from last year that the acclaimed judges were given packets of pre-sorted photos provided to them by Revell/Gears, which means the photos had already had one round of judging from producers and execs before the model experts had their say. The models' photos have to look good on TV, be relevant to the program and serve the needs of the sponsor, Revell. That's just business.
  16. I had all four removed a few years ago and I was into my 40's. I was sedated, everything went perfect. I never even used the prescribed pain killers (even though I already bought them) because any discomfort was so mild an aspirin was all I needed and even that was probably only for two days. Sadly, I never got silly. Just napped away the afternoon. I'll second jbwelda. You'll be fine.
  17. I believe people are communal by nature and extending out to welcome someone into your fold in a positive way is never a wasted effort, even if it doesn't achieve the result you expected. It at least conveys worth to someone who maybe didn't even know they needed it until they received it. And in this case doesn't hurt the hobby either. Outstanding Mark.
  18. Congratulations Austin. Honorable mention is no small matter, considering the company you're in. You will now, of course, have to toss in a photo here.
  19. I don't think there is as much polarization between the two as some members here would think. No question there are loyalists, and I'll bet most people here are dual members or were at one time members of SA. I'll always have a sentimental place for SA, but that said, I've let my subscription run out and I only check the forum every few weeks. Maybe with upgrades SA site will be better but I'm here because there are just WAY more quick loading photos, more discussion, more topics, more participation from known hobby insiders, more energy, more models... just more. And as mentioned before, freedom of speech. Not really trying to make comparisons, just saying where they fit in my online reading.
  20. I dunno, the choices just seem too deliberate, like a theme build or something. Does it look like a play off anything you've seen in pop culture? Transformers? Starship Troopers? Anime? Any story behind it? ???
  21. Yeah, something subtle. The smooth fenders aren't so bad, just something to lighten the broad panel.
  22. Oh, you were serious! I thought this was some college rivalry.
  23. Coyote launches rockets which stand still but blasts the car backwards in a harrowing ride to the very end of a jutting precipice. Wipes sweat from brow for avoiding going off edge. Missiles explode which sends traveling cracks through the ground all the way to the jutting precipice which collapses under the car that suspends for a moment before dropping (as does coyotes head and ears).
  24. Jim, I'm glad the deadline was waived because I actually made a feable start on a project for this. I never announced it because I don't know how committed I can be to it this year and I've always thought it's unfair to the thread's followers to vanish after presenting a hyped up start. However I do respect those who at least inform of their DNF. Love the topic. I might still jump in after Cannonball.
  25. GET OUT! That's awesome. Clean build, excellent photos, hey why not?
