  1. That engine looks great Niko. The body doesn't look too bad, maybe just a little color sanding for smoothing and you'll probably feel better about it. ARC, sorry to hear about your exit. I was kind of looking forward to your entry. If last year was any indication, I know you would have brought a very serious contender... in other words, a beauty! Erik, that interior looks super clean! I can't wait to see more of this.
  2. Looks pretty good all the way around. Beautiful work. Our local Life Flight just switched to these and boy do they sound aggressive.
  3. Dominik, thank you very much for introducing us to this kit. Your detailed photos and answers have cleared up a lot of questions I've had. Beautiful work, as always.
  4. Well now there's an enigma. Ken Kesey's bus could be both at the same time.
  5. Or would that be further? Farther would be a physical spacial distance. Further would be a figurative distance, as in, further in life... unless he ends up in Botswana. That would be pretty far.
  6. WHOA, talk about having to look twice. With the right set, this could be posted in Real or Model. Not a bad year for you I'd say.
  7. And that completes the connection. When The Magician and Rockford Files premiered, there were only three commercial networks, so the launch of a new show was an even bigger deal than it is now. They were promoted together and launched consecutively to each other with a slight plot crossover. I was pretty stoked to watch them and as a ten year old, I really thought The Magician, with the vigilante entertainer using theatrical magic and slight of hand to bag criminals then jet off in his private Boeing jetliner to escape would be the TV hit. Rockford I thought was just another PI show on the heals of Mannix. But then, at that age, I didn't know the popularity of James Garner either. EDIT: Hmm my (unreliable) source has 853 OKG as Rockford's dad's truck.
  8. Getting warm Steve. Hint: The connection is they were the same network and their pilot episodes ran back to back as a Movie of the Week double feature. More than that, the first show segued into the other show so there was a bit of plot crossover. I don't recall which series pilot ran first.
  9. You are exactly correct on that one. Still remaining is the other license plate of a MUCH more successful show and in what ways are they connected?
  10. I'm going to guess you've learned a thing or two along the way ( ) so I know you'll do a sweet job. It already looks pretty nice.
  11. Wow, what a great nostalgia piece. You didn't miss a trick. It's got tetanus written all over it.
  12. Names the shows. And if you can, how are they connected?
  13. Hmm. Seeing as how he hasn't been online in over three years, I hope he ventures back sometime to receive our appreciation of his work. It's fantastic. So good I'm dying to know exactly how he did it.
  14. Excellent. I've been waiting for someone to take this step. Add me to the list of folks who would like to build this version of the Olds. A neighbor of mine restored a 1:1 of this. Painted it the richest black I'd ever seen and it was a factory stock beauty. Great work Billy, now bring it home.
  15. That's a beauty right there. Excellent work, your friend will be happy.
  16. Then you might amused to learn I intentionally didn't buy Krylon because I thought it was lacquer. I wish the labels were more clear about these things. Oh well, better to learn late than never. Thanks for the info.
  17. Aaaargh! Really? Really!? Haven't we been through this already!? The paint had been flat, which looked fine. But after some consideration I decided to throw a coat of Rustoleum gloss on it... and... well... time for a swim. Then see if I can figure out that custom mix of color again. (Remember kids, don't forget to prime).
  18. That's neat Nick, I like it. Regarding the Fury, I admire your optimism.
  19. Billy, forgive me if I've said this before, but your modeling skills grow by leaps and bounds. As good as your skills have been in the last couple years that I've been tuning in, each project you do enters all new territory. I love the classic cruiser styling cues of this one and it's really well executed. Nice work.
  20. Lovely clean build Carl. Who can't love the Pinto? Well, I love to look at it anyway, a sentimental favorite. No offense Bill but our family '73 was a piece of #$%. Had to take a running charge at hills. Engine was shot by 70K miles. But it was a very handsome wood paneled wagon.
  21. Sven, those are exquisite. If those don't inspire some model building, I don't know what will. Anytime you feel the urge to "inspire" us, please do so.
  22. Don't be too hasty Rob. I doubt anyone will see the eyeball any closer than your pic and it looks xxxx fine to me. I appreciated it even more after a productive evening tonight and was painting pieces about that size. Considering your results I had a new appreciation for what you've got. Unless of course you mucked... well, anyway. Ron, that blue may be dark, but that's about right for how I remember some of those early 60's mopars. Frankly, I'd say a pretty good choice. Erik, you've got some work to do, but I'd sure like to see you pound it out. Remember, this is mostly a build/photo contest, so I look forward to you getting far enough to at least display for nice pics. Besides, I GOTTA know how those balls factor in.
  23. Christian usually has a one word answer to this particular predicament.
  24. Remember when I thought this teal interior was so awesome and would go with gold perfectly? Well it DOESN'T! Though they're complimentary colors It's too bright and makes the whole car look like a jar of Jolly Ranchers. Since the airbrush was going to be out, I muted the colors and tried a little harder to get it closer to the colors of the 1954 Olds F-85 concept car I've been using as an inspiration. It's aesthetically much more pleasant on the whole with the gold and ivory (still needs a little clean up). A quick shot of the engine compartment shot with gunmetal.
