What a bummer Michael. Sure would've been good to see your 'goods'. Don't leave us hanging though, be sure to let us see it when you wrap things up. Same with you Slant, sorry you can't make it but that's real life. You have a very compelling start and I'd sure like to see the rest of that kitbash. I don't have the technical knowledge you do so I've been paying attention. If you need any help setting up the polling thread, maybe Jantrix or I can help. Niko, you did another well thought out, well executed build. Great job. MLM I liked your color choices the moment I saw it. I also like your engine detail. I hope when (if) we run this again you will jump in early and take the time to really show us the best of your talent. Well done my friend.

Another nice asphalt burning powerhouse Andy. Glad you made it to the line. Looks good. I'm also glad you learned a few things. Sometimes I don't have the courage to experiment with new techniques or products if everything else is going well.

Wonderful detail all the way through. Best of all it looks serious. Not a tall fendered luxury boat, but a tough, coast to coast, run the little guys out of the way racer.

Good question James. This interior was the inspiration for my color choices. My first choice was aqua blue, which looked good on paper but the painted parts against the gold were too loud, like circus colors. So I just learned from the pros.

ARC I wouldn't have believed it. When you started just a week ago and jumped in with what I considered secondary details like drilling out the grill and all the dremel work I thought you'd be a no show. I admire folks who can work that quick and have the 'cojones to still do a quality, well considered job. Nice work.

Good to know Aaron. I've never considered Future for adhesion. Even clear enamel didn't occur to me, though it used to be in my arsenal before my 10-year hiatus claimed some of my previous knowledge. Thanks again folks for the comments.

The wackier the better. As always, nice work.

Thanks guys, I'm all warm and fuzzy now. Nothing like affirmation. Jim, I think I would have failed if I didn't hear from you. Regarding the headlights Casey, the lenses are flat on the back so the white glue either finds air as it dries or finds a way to crinkle. Wouldn't have been a problem if it was concave so I can probably resolve it if I can find different shaped lenses.

This was the Highway Scenes edition Corvette and though I wasn't too troubled by the ancient engineering, the separate windshield frame and misshapen bulletproof glass almost defeated me. I ended up shaping clear plastic and speaking in tongues at the flimsy, delicate frame. Headlights, taillights and grill are scratch built, other shapes came from the parts box, including two 1/48 scale drop tank halves.

This is my entry in the Cannonball CBP, where you'll find the build. I invite you to view here. Revell 1960 Corvette with body modifications. The obvious inspiration was the 1954 Buick Skylark concept car and the '54 Olds F-88 Concept.

Racers, I present the 1960 Cor-Vex. These are some look-see shots. I invite you to view more in Under Glass. Admittedly, this one strayed from the original plan which was to be more of a road racer, but the steelies just seemed to betray the show quality of it. Also I started to become more enamored with colors and styles of the magazine customs of the time. Nothing to see underneath. I just freehanded the underpipes. The dated chassis didn't lend itself well to detail and goes together in odd chunks.

Wow Zen, simply fantastic. Looks great from all angles, including underneath. I like all your choices. And when the race is done it'll be put to quick use making runs for the... um... servers at the Strangiato.

Racers. With a heaving sigh, I am done. It's still in the wheel jig resting comfortably overnight, so glamour shots tomorrow night. (Except for you Zen, glamour shots will be yesterday morning or something like that).

Wow, nice work. I didn't realize Lindberg gives you everything to make it factory stock.

News Story About Model Building
Lunajammer replied to Terry Jessee's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Summarizes things pretty well. You make a good ambassador to the hobby. -
Likewise on all of the above... minus the radiator, tailgate and bumpers part.

Looks like a winner to me. Great job!

$425,000,000! What would you do?
Lunajammer replied to Terry Sumner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Taunt children and mock poor people with it. Then give a big stack to Warren Buffet and Donald Trump because good ol' boys need to take care of each other. -
ZOWIE!

Wow, kooky.

sharing scans of books........

Well, I guess that's the end of Real or Model?/Auto ID Quiz. Makes me wonder how photo hosting sites get away with offering mugs and t-shirts to people viewing your photos. My GF, a nationally honored breeder and photographer, tried to stop someone from selling products with her photos on it and had no luck. That is, the expenses of the legal fight far exceeds what the common working slob can afford so everything on the internet is free for the taking. The only price is whether you feel guilty about it. -
Oh yes, I remember this. Hard to forget and worth seeing again. An ambitious project and well executed. Nice of you to bring it out.

That's actually one of things I like about CBs like this, it lights a fire under my patootie to get something done. So here's my update. The interior assembles to the chassis. The dash attaches to the body, then pray everything lines up when you drop the body on.

Envious S-10
Lunajammer replied to DrKerry's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Whoa. That's a nicely laid out custom. I could totally see that being done 1:1.
