  1. It's not clear to me why he's closing shop other than he's "moving on to whatever else catches his eye." But to go to his site he boldly shows that the museum is closed "forever" and no further explanation is offered. Doesn't that sound a little cold like there's some spite, disappointment or obstacle behind it? He was supposedly a devoted collector and expert, passionately searching the world to recover and meticulously restore one-of-a-kind pieces. Can someone just walk away from that? Even if it's just to cash in, I wouldn't begrudge him that. But no farewell or thank-yous seems odd. It's a unique and important collection.
  2. You have now until December so jump in any time and have fun. Read the first page to make sure your project gets off to the right start.
  3. I'd have to agree with that. My old stuff crinkles more over the years. It seems reasonable the glue will change or dry over time and shrink, taking the delicate foil with it. That doesn't explain crinkles in new products but I'm always leery of the shelf time at hobby shops.
  4. For what it's worth, and I don't know if this is within the spirit of your goals, but from the 1940's and earlier, not all 2x4's were necessarily spot-on accurate anyway because many times builders ripped and planed their boards at the construction sites. Made painfully obvious while renovating my own home and all the walls were wavy because the 2x4 studs were not exactly similar.
  5. So Mr. Mason. Will there be a TFchronos fielded Mopar this time around?
  6. Looks like a good candidate for the Utopian Future CBP
  7. Looks like a good clean build you've got going there. Keep it up and keep us posted.
  8. I love this! That hood is weathering that tells a story. It reminds me of a car I've known that had upper surface damage exactly like that after a storm blew a plywood sheet across it and never got fixed.
  9. Why do some of you guys drink coffee when you can't get to sleep? Wouldn't that be counter productive if you want to fall asleep?
  10. I've noticed that without moderation, it seems like people trash out for a year here. Then after overloading, disappear.
  11. *Sigh!* You just can't make anything easy, can you Jacen? Well, you've got my attention now. For my update, I got a pvc plumbing coupler and a bunch of O-rings yesterday that I'll use for the hubless wheel that will drive my Cherry Bomb. I'm also dumping the kit turbine and going with a techno-flurbo-reactonite sort of thing from a box of "Transformers" parts.
  12. That's fascinating. Much bigger than I thought. Hard to believe it's that big and brush painted. I love the technique under the abdomen. Lots of artistic expression.
  13. The Revell hardtop is quite old so tons of flash, to the point that some detail parts are disfigured. Lots of offset seams. Slight fender flares molded to the body. However, they're not too expensive.
  14. Wow, that's harsh.
  15. What you see, as it sits, looks pretty nice. The chassis is hurt by the low parts count, but it can look very nice on display. The interior looks great. Better test fit the windshield assembly before you get too far. I found the glass fit so poorly I could never really tell which way it was supposed to go. Something like this could be cool.
  16. Wright: Put on your seat belt, I want to try something.
  17. I'm one of those guys who hates to see classic plastic get laid to waste, but you get a mulligan John, because you're one of those people who can make more of it than if it was left alone. So carve up that bad boy and let's see the magic happen.
  18. Great to hear Wayne. Not too many Sunbeams posted here for a while so make sure you take pictures. Sure missed seeing your stuff since the stroke.
  19. Viewing some old kits, fit issues don't bother me, I accept them. This car is never NOT cool. You did an excellent job and I look forward to my chance at it.
  20. I wouldn't contest your thoughts Harry because I think at some level everyone feels like there's something wrong with the picture. But money just isn't available for everyone's avid cause. I guess it comes down to asking all taxpayers in the school districts, rich or poor, to fork it over if that's what important to them. I expect they might need to pay bus monitors to make sure squirrelly kids are minding the rules and not goofing with the buckles and/or systems. Which might happen anyway for security, the way things are going.
  21. Actually, if I'm not mistaken, I think testing showed there's more upper body and neck injuries in busses when kids use waist belts. They would also need other kinds of protection before exceeding the safety of just letting kids have full body hits into the padded seats in front of them.
  22. Super nice Erik. It appears to be a really nicely proportion 1/32. Your photos and quality of build defies it's size.
  23. Yeah, but many years ago coping skills were much better. Kids just sucked it up and parents weren't as high strung about creature comforts.
