  1. Looking forward to it. I'm bringing $$ Junior.
  2. Reminds me of a Lincoln Mark VIII or Buick Riviera.
  3. I loved your stuff over at the neighbor's. Glad to see you bring this here. I too look forward to lots of pics.
  4. Really a nice build you've got there Andy. Excellent care and attention to kit details.
  5. Nicely done, well concepted.
  6. Black on black in Georgia? I admire your dad's resolve. A beautiful nostalgic piece.
  7. Wow, this is the most "worked" model I've ever seen. Frankly I thought you were done a couple times. I can understand wanting to take a break, but for goodness sake, ya gotta finish it. You're there bro.
  8. The 60 Cor-Vex is in final primer, sanded and tonight will get masked for the beginning of color coats. Here's the 283. I tried weathering with Tamiya Smoke. First time I've used acrylic for weathering and as far as I'm concerned it's a fail. I think I'll go back to tube oils until I get more education. There's no kit carb, just a plug to mount the air cleaner. There's no way you'd see it anyway. Pretty simple engine, all the upper engine except the valve covers is one piece, including coil & distributer, so I may still add a couple touches.
  9. That super deep blue REALLY does it for me. Nice work, beautiful car.
  10. Wow, I wasn't expecting that. The stock Fairlane is a dead ringer for the one my neighbor had when I was tyke in the mid 60's. Something about that car fascinated my 5-year old brain. Beautiful work on both. Edit: Oh stop it now the with the B&W photos. Now you're really throwing me back to my happy childhood.
  11. Extra points for exploring the creative, but the (distracting) dirt pile does nothing for me. The car however... may be one of the most believable weathered vehicles I've ever seen here. Really exquisite.
  12. I like it.
  13. Ditto. Please follow up with good pics.
  14. Threw together... riiiiiigghht. Super classy, hits all the right marks.
  15. Likewise, if you rearrange your photos in your albums or make certain kinds of edits. You don't have to delete a photo to mess up it's link. Basically once the link is set, leave the photo alone if you want it to remain posted somewhere.
  16. Very much so. For that reason I'd recommend having the display go beyond crafting by showing how modeling is an avenue of discovery to other interest areas. When our club set up in our public library's lobby display windows with books and other material, the resource administrators said it was the most popular display they'd had. So we did it a couple more years. Of course it was a tad self serving because it promoted our annual contest but I admit it certainly brought to life a connection between reading, modeling and the interest areas that modeling represents... across all modeling subjects. The models are what get people looking but the research, regardless of how casual, is an aspect that may not occur to non-modelers until a light goes off and suddenly modeling seems more valid.
  17. Excellent piece Nick. Nice work.
  18. Agreed. It's still bug-eyed but I don't find it as troubling with the radical section than when it's trying to conform to the original.
  19. Sorry I missed this Manuel, I'd sort of been waiting for it. It turned out wonderful and some really exciting choices.
  20. Congratulations Jim. It looks like your time and effort paid off, it looks nice. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing one more photo that shows us more of the car as a whole to get a sense of its character. Maybe a side 3/4 from a few inches farther back.
  21. At least now I know how to recreate the cracked vinyl of an old, sun baked beater. Yeah Zen I considered leaving them if the cracks were smaller and more textured like toward the front. Even while it was happening I poured more lacquer onto it trying to intensify the cracks but this is where it stayed. They've already been stripped, look undamaged and are ready to start over. I did some resurfacing of the body tonight so I can put to rest some annoying imperfections and be satisfied with the more tolerable imperfections.
  22. Nothing says low buck, high enthusiasm than a sedan at the drag strip. It's all heart and willpower! Monaco.
  23. Yeah, this is the first kit I did when I returned to modeling as a serious grown-up and had joined the local club. Good kit for that because I don't recall any memorable fit issues so I could put my growing knowledge to use on basic clean details. Besides, what wagon guy can resist following these builds. I like what you've got going. Bring it on home now.
  24. Or is it a Bloom Energy solid oxide fuel cell providing precious, combustionless, mobile electrical power to it's band of nomadic citizens?
