  1. Have fun Arturo. It's not only not rare but a re-release of it is still on store shelves. I built it and I don't recall any troubles at all. Hope we get to see it when you're done.
  2. I know you'll find a way BK. Be sure to keep us posted.
  3. I'll look at anything you post, you never disappoint. Like others have already said, the casting looked a little rough but you made it look great.
  4. Not that anyone really wanted to beat you up over it. It was more of a social obligation.
  5. Okay Jim, I own all your ingredients. I'm going to be watching this very closely. We're two photos in and it's very compelling.
  6. Excellent all the way around. Kudos on the body work.
  7. If you'd love to do it, it should go easy and you needn't be nervous. But if you have misgivings they'll only get worse if you lose interest or energy in the project midstream while the demand remains hanging over you. It could also take the fun away from any other project if you always feel obligated to be working on the involved commissioned project. Do it because it's what you want to do, not for the money or as a gratuity for the nice compliments.
  8. I tend to be too conservative for my own good. My instinct would be to preserve the good stuff for collectibility or for a quality build later. In the spirit of the movie, stealth didn't seem to be anyone's concern. I would (am) build something worry free and have fun. No nagging second thoughts.
  9. Staggering. Hall of Fame, that's all I can say.
  10. Josh, fantastic build. This is the one I was most skeptical about making the deadline but you did a great job. A handsome model.
  11. As much as I'm enjoying watching all of these builds from the mezzanine, Ira, I think this is my favorite. Very fun, very clever. The rest of you guys are making this a very compelling thread.
  12. Well that's the cool thing Erik, everybody's at their own place. We need your flavorings for this Mulligan stew. ARC, not sure how perverse I can be this year. I might have to settle for just downright slanderous.
  13. I'm of the opinion a kit of any quality in the hands of a patient and capable builder can look superb. The Stang looks top shelf to me, or should I say, superb.
  14. The wheels look pretty handsome on it. I never would've thought.
  15. A funny thing happened a few summers ago while I lived in a 10-plex. Big power outage in our part of town. Sun was going down, rooms getting dark, no TVs, no computers, no interactivity. People had nothing to do for a long time on a beautiful evening. Out of desperation for stimulation they.......... began neighboring. They started coming out of their homes, taking walks, introducing themselves, visiting over fences, shaking hands, playing with their kids in the yards, and it was block after block. In our building, after dark, those on our floor had a gabfest in the hallway. A couple hours later, power came back on and like vampires suddenly becoming self aware, everyone vanished back into their crypts for isolated electronic stimulation. It was like a lovely window into the past and into why people 50 and more years ago were closer, had more friends, were more trusting and were happier.
  16. Sure glad to hear from you Barry. I've followed your builds over on the neighbor's forum. I wouldn't mind seeing you do something here, even if it's a quickie (if there is such a thing).
  17. And thus begins the journey of the 1960 Cor-Vex. Major parts of the multi part body have been assembled. Since my kit had no chrome sheet I'm trying my hand at Winfield-esque styling. A resized, parts box, custom grill/pan has been added as well as scratch headlight brows. If the back end reminds you of the '54 Wildcat Concept, it's no coincidence, but I'll take some liberties. Aircraft drop tank halves come in handy. Just not sure if I'll keep them yet. Still lots of filling and shaping to do.
  18. Hey Dr. Magnets. This thread keeps bringing up a nagging question I have... Do you think there's a way to levitate this with reverse pole magnets? Maybe strong magnets in a base and secure the the vehicle with hair strands or very fine filament to keep it from falling over? Would there be just too much weight?
  19. What an unexpected and pleasant surprise to hear this mentioned. I wrote the article and provided the templates for this in the 2000 Car Modeler annual. But I never heard any feedback from it. That was about the last model I built until a year ago. I'm not a thrower so keep my sprues and figured someday in a fit of purging I'd glue them all together into a Borg Starship and join The Collective.
  20. NOOOoooooo!! Anything can be post apoc. This would make such an amazing piece from the gaudy days of furry dashboards, rolling waterbeds and CBs. It does, of course, undeniably look like a goll dang fortress.
  21. I hate to be "one of those" rivet counters here Slant, but I'm just wondering about the '64 chassis and running gear if the cut off is '62. I'm just not that informed about the mechanics of early iron (or late iron for that matter).
  22. Some people get all the luck.
  23. Why can't we get spokes that good for 1/25 scale cars?
