  1. After a couple weeks I was able to scratch some plastic. Here's the Cor-Vex well puttied and sanded. I think it's pretty much ready for primer. At the last minute I decided to change the rear wheel opening because I thought it still looked too much like a conventional '60 Corvette.
  2. Then you might appreciate this about that.
  3. In the Dr. Doolittle book it was a Pushmepullyou.
  4. Skip, I'm afraid that I am, as you are, less informed. I met another guy who was less informed. Come to think of it there's a vast civilization of uninformed humanity. Poor guy is a crying voice in an island wilderness. Sorry about the myopy.
  5. Wow, good call Jared, I think those wheels make a big difference.
  6. Interesting that four of the six judges are established modeling names and Revell is not represented at all. THE JUDGES: 1) Bill Bozgan, writer and Research Consultant to Ford Licensing and Archives; 2) Roy Sorenson, publisher/editor of Model Car Builder model car magazine; 3) Bill Coulter, Author of many books on model car building including "The Directory of Model Car Kits" and feature article writer for Model Cars magazine; 4) David Thibodeau, Regular feature article contributor to Model Cars and Scale Auto magazines and winner of Best in Show at the NNL East contest; 5) Bob Downie, Regular feature article contributor in Scale Auto magazine and officer at ACME Model Car Club; and 6) Stacey David, host/executive producer of Stacey David's GearZ on Speed Channel, and a builder of hot rods and model cars ("Panel").
  7. I gotta chuckle Andy because it just seems like you, poor guy, just can't buy a break. I personally don't know a single thing about the history of engines so I admire your efforts to do something forward thinking within the period. Lane, I know you posted your finished build in the under glass section. Adding one, maybe two shots here would be a nice cap to your build thread so we can see it all within context. What I saw looked like a pretty handsome finished product. Nice job, are you the first to the starting line?
  8. Interesting. How could anybody worth their salt in graphics miss something like that? My guess is that they know about it by now and probably offer a corrected sheet if you ask for it, especially when the box art specifically boasts of the decal graphics.
  9. I always liked the 90's Montes too Terry, and I think it has everything to do with the squared wheel openings.
  10. You built the rear seat? It's almost dead on correct. Excellent work, a beauty all around.
  11. Whoa Mama! Now that I see it I guess I did wonder. Frankly, in raw resin, I always thought it looked... well... kind of dorky. But I was way, WAY off. I had no idea it would be that impressive. Thanks for sharing it.
  12. It says, "This is my control panel, it's my car, I'm in control and the rest of you tourists can look out the windows."
  13. In a rare turn of skepticism for me, I'd guess that a replica of this would not do well in a show because it would be considered unrealistic or too contrived.
  14. Very slick indeed. Beautiful engine detail and slippery paint.
  15. I love this crazy thing Ira. I went to your website and was blown away by the creativity of your long line of mad modeling. Talk about idea fodder. Thanks for sharing.
  16. Have fun Arturo. It's not only not rare but a re-release of it is still on store shelves. I built it and I don't recall any troubles at all. Hope we get to see it when you're done.
  17. I know you'll find a way BK. Be sure to keep us posted.
  18. I'll look at anything you post, you never disappoint. Like others have already said, the casting looked a little rough but you made it look great.
  19. Not that anyone really wanted to beat you up over it. It was more of a social obligation.
  20. Okay Jim, I own all your ingredients. I'm going to be watching this very closely. We're two photos in and it's very compelling.
  21. Excellent all the way around. Kudos on the body work.
  22. If you'd love to do it, it should go easy and you needn't be nervous. But if you have misgivings they'll only get worse if you lose interest or energy in the project midstream while the demand remains hanging over you. It could also take the fun away from any other project if you always feel obligated to be working on the involved commissioned project. Do it because it's what you want to do, not for the money or as a gratuity for the nice compliments.
  23. I tend to be too conservative for my own good. My instinct would be to preserve the good stuff for collectibility or for a quality build later. In the spirit of the movie, stealth didn't seem to be anyone's concern. I would (am) build something worry free and have fun. No nagging second thoughts.
