  1. So perfect Rob, that I came { } this close to doing it also, but it's DEEP in my stash. The Vette was in the first box I pulled out so my decision was made.
  2. Okay Ron, 24-hrs after I said I'd need a month or two, I've made my selection and I'm in this year with a Revell '60 Corvette. I need an early start because my crush to finish the VW last time used up a lot of girlfriend time and now she's not too supportive of my childish fancies anymore. I acquired the Vette years ago with no chrome or wheels so I guess I'll just have to invent some ginchy, galvanized, finnified, customized front and rear treatment. I reserve the right to smash it, stomp, speak in tongues and change my entry. For you young-stahs, this is an '88 release of an old Revell standard and the body is in parts. The rear top and bottom parts have been glued and a side panel is on. There are some odd molding choices on this but it's apparent it's partly due to the molding limitations of the day. For that reason I'm enjoying the retro build.
  3. It's great to see the old friends jumping over here to be part of this run. It simply couldn't have continued "over there." Like last year, I'll need a month or two to assess a few things but I hope to jump in a bit later. Thanks again Slant for taking up the baton .
  4. Aircraft is my second favorite build and interest area and the I know the 1/48 B-29 and B-17 can be fiddly builds with lots of parts and slow progress. Like they've said, set it aside and try something simpler but still interests you... jets maybe?
  5. Wow, a year to be proud of. First thing I noticed, and I think it's the thing that brings these to life, is the attention you give to the stance/ride-height. Beautiful.
  6. Like it already.
  7. Cool looking space ship. All you need are some blasters. That's some quality work there. But maybe just a sentence on how the hair dryer factors in on the decal application. Thanks.
  8. Beautiful. Treasures, every one.
  9. Oh sure, NOW we get a flying car. It was promised almost twelve years ago. That T-Bird canopy sure hits the nail on the head.
  10. I had not planned to be part of this for the same reasons, along with no P-Apoc experience until tonight when I had a brainstorm. Everything I need is on one scrap body. The rest is coming from used up toys. Even some childish toys have isolated pieces of brilliant crisp detail. The ice breaker that started my hail of ideas was a retaining bracket from a toy pistol. Dig around at the thrift stores and wear your rose colored glasses.
  11. I hate to love this thread. Someone I don't know from somewhere in the world got something I don't care about. So why do I keep coming back over and over to see?
  12. My old computer model bench is almost identical to yours Oldskool. It's a little confining but it forces you to stay organized doesn't it?
  13. Looks like you're well on your way and doing a bang up job. But it's not done.
  14. Good stuff Chuck. Looks like it was a productive year... and there's still a few weeks left.
  15. Well now, that is interesting. Very interesting indeed. Judging by how much time I just spent studying your photos, I may have to add this to my reference folder. Don't leave us hanging.
  16. Cell cameras. The "fingernails on the chalkboard" to visualists everywhere.
  17. Excellent stuff, all of them. Shows you certainly know your subject. I particularly like stock cars and Corvette.

    60 Bel Air

If anyone can pull it off Mike, you can. Another superb model.
  19. Heck if this awesome build is an early effort and you're just learning the techniques, I can hardly wait to see where you'll be at next year.
  20. Yeah, that's a beauty.
  21. Yet another stunner. Good job.
  22. Hey everybody, thanks so much for the warm response and interesting comments. This was my first build in almost ten years. It took a while just to get reacquainted with my tools, techniques and dried up supplies. For better or worse, I think I'm back, thanks in large part to the fellowship of the online community. Chuck, you'd be stealing from the thief.
  23. NIIIICE touch with that fogged stripe. Everything is superbly executed. Now that's a smooth-stah.
