Staggering. Hall of Fame, that's all I can say.

Josh, fantastic build. This is the one I was most skeptical about making the deadline but you did a great job. A handsome model.

As much as I'm enjoying watching all of these builds from the mezzanine, Ira, I think this is my favorite. Very fun, very clever. The rest of you guys are making this a very compelling thread.

Well that's the cool thing Erik, everybody's at their own place. We need your flavorings for this Mulligan stew. ARC, not sure how perverse I can be this year. I might have to settle for just downright slanderous.

I'm of the opinion a kit of any quality in the hands of a patient and capable builder can look superb. The Stang looks top shelf to me, or should I say, superb.

The wheels look pretty handsome on it. I never would've thought.

How Technologically Savvy Are You?
Lunajammer replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A funny thing happened a few summers ago while I lived in a 10-plex. Big power outage in our part of town. Sun was going down, rooms getting dark, no TVs, no computers, no interactivity. People had nothing to do for a long time on a beautiful evening. Out of desperation for stimulation they.......... began neighboring. They started coming out of their homes, taking walks, introducing themselves, visiting over fences, shaking hands, playing with their kids in the yards, and it was block after block. In our building, after dark, those on our floor had a gabfest in the hallway. A couple hours later, power came back on and like vampires suddenly becoming self aware, everyone vanished back into their crypts for isolated electronic stimulation. It was like a lovely window into the past and into why people 50 and more years ago were closer, had more friends, were more trusting and were happier. -

2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
Lunajammer replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Sure glad to hear from you Barry. I've followed your builds over on the neighbor's forum. I wouldn't mind seeing you do something here, even if it's a quickie (if there is such a thing). -
And thus begins the journey of the 1960 Cor-Vex. Major parts of the multi part body have been assembled. Since my kit had no chrome sheet I'm trying my hand at Winfield-esque styling. A resized, parts box, custom grill/pan has been added as well as scratch headlight brows. If the back end reminds you of the '54 Wildcat Concept, it's no coincidence, but I'll take some liberties. Aircraft drop tank halves come in handy. Just not sure if I'll keep them yet. Still lots of filling and shaping to do.

STAR FIRE! ...( 59 Impala Flying Car) Update: 3-29-12
Lunajammer replied to Ira's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Hey Dr. Magnets. This thread keeps bringing up a nagging question I have... Do you think there's a way to levitate this with reverse pole magnets? Maybe strong magnets in a base and secure the the vehicle with hair strands or very fine filament to keep it from falling over? Would there be just too much weight? -
What an unexpected and pleasant surprise to hear this mentioned. I wrote the article and provided the templates for this in the 2000 Car Modeler annual. But I never heard any feedback from it. That was about the last model I built until a year ago. I'm not a thrower so keep my sprues and figured someday in a fit of purging I'd glue them all together into a Borg Starship and join The Collective.

70's Custom Van
Lunajammer replied to Tony-442's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
NOOOoooooo!! Anything can be post apoc. This would make such an amazing piece from the gaudy days of furry dashboards, rolling waterbeds and CBs. It does, of course, undeniably look like a goll dang fortress. -
I hate to be "one of those" rivet counters here Slant, but I'm just wondering about the '64 chassis and running gear if the cut off is '62. I'm just not that informed about the mechanics of early iron (or late iron for that matter).

Some people get all the luck.

With this, you can do this!

Why can't we get spokes that good for 1/25 scale cars? -
So perfect Rob, that I came { } this close to doing it also, but it's DEEP in my stash. The Vette was in the first box I pulled out so my decision was made.

Okay Ron, 24-hrs after I said I'd need a month or two, I've made my selection and I'm in this year with a Revell '60 Corvette. I need an early start because my crush to finish the VW last time used up a lot of girlfriend time and now she's not too supportive of my childish fancies anymore. I acquired the Vette years ago with no chrome or wheels so I guess I'll just have to invent some ginchy, galvanized, finnified, customized front and rear treatment. I reserve the right to smash it, stomp, speak in tongues and change my entry. For you young-stahs, this is an '88 release of an old Revell standard and the body is in parts. The rear top and bottom parts have been glued and a side panel is on. There are some odd molding choices on this but it's apparent it's partly due to the molding limitations of the day. For that reason I'm enjoying the retro build.

It's great to see the old friends jumping over here to be part of this run. It simply couldn't have continued "over there." Like last year, I'll need a month or two to assess a few things but I hope to jump in a bit later. Thanks again Slant for taking up the baton .

Aircraft is my second favorite build and interest area and the I know the 1/48 B-29 and B-17 can be fiddly builds with lots of parts and slow progress. Like they've said, set it aside and try something simpler but still interests you... jets maybe?

Wow, a year to be proud of. First thing I noticed, and I think it's the thing that brings these to life, is the attention you give to the stance/ride-height. Beautiful.

Like it already.

Cool looking space ship. All you need are some blasters. That's some quality work there. But maybe just a sentence on how the hair dryer factors in on the decal application. Thanks.
