  1. Looks fantastic Brad....did it place at the recent show? Cheers, Tim
  2. Thanks Richard....and you too DAVE! Randy, I'll be looking for those promised updates soon! Joe & Scott...........today's pics explain why this build is taking so long. I started the lower control arms and I'm trying to do my best to replicate the L.A.M.B. pieces. This pic shows the the real pieces and the ones I machined in brass.....they have 1mm rods and 2mm tube soldered together to make 1 unit. The aluminum puck has a hole drilled and a milled notch to line everything up and to secure it for soldering for reasons of accuracy. The next pic gives you an idea. The brass notched tab drilled to connect to the forward control arm. Which I have to make of course. The end result which took me an entire morning to do. After doing the entire thing I've come to the conclusion that Joe was right, I am certifiably insane now.
  3. Who doesn't like a GT40, but yours is a great example of one. Nicely done sir. Cheers
  4. Cool project Art. Count me as a fan and look forward to your next post. Cheers
  5. That's just beautiful Bill. Cheers
  6. Fantastic "eye" John for details. You have an unusual ability for replicating parts and actual cars without having specific dimensions etc. to go by. Not many people can do that...........at least not many people that I know. Your making phenomenal progress as usual. Cheers
  7. Ingenious. Love it Cato
  8. Cato, keep building and keep posting.................great builds like yours take time because there is simply so much more TO SHARE. I personally find your posts to be so educational that I can't imagine that any builder that checks it out cannot possibly learn something. I don't know of any builder that doesn't want to get better at it while they're having fun along the way. You're an inspiration to us all. Cheers, Tim
  9. Love the fact that you spelled out the sequence of assembly and just a few of the considerations you have to make before finishing the build. It's a great testament to the planning that goes into a build when it's not done "OOB". Like you Cato, I write everything down now and take pictures when doing mock-ups to help speed up final assembly and avoid mistakes. I'm smiling as I write this because your post just says it all so eloquently. I like what you're doing with the leather for the seats too of course!!! Cheers, tim
  10. Thanks Joe...a few more pics to tide you over till Dave posts. I have to correct you however in that Dave gets top billing, ergo, the Dave & Tim Show. (I'm just thrilled to be mentioned in the same breath) I am curious as to what he decides to do with his engine selection, not a loser in the bunch. Cheers
  11. Thank you everyone...and Joe, you're correct, I DID miss that one........I've been so busy putting a few chassis rails on (now go check out Dave's dragster build for a comparison on productivity.....he's KILLING it) but it's just a bit of "fatigue" on the build that I'm battling. This too shall pass. Cheers again!
  12. Nice chassis work first and foremost Dave.....great progress and VERY cleanly executed.....as always. Regarding the survey, based upon the options you've provided, I think you're making it "unfair" in that the blown alcohol stands out. And I only say that because you've not finished the other 3 engines so it makes the comparison a little skewed. Whatever direction you settle upon will be a treat. But since you asked, the blown engine is my pic.......you can call it "BEAUTY & THE BEAST"........feel free to use that. Cheers, tim
  13. Thank you. Scott, there are 4 simple bars to add yet, 2 per side that will mirror each other. One from the drivers hoop starting near the bottom door hinge and ending near the strut and then a vertical bar that will double as the front motor plate bracket/support. Those will be pretty straightforward compared to getting these 2 rascals on. cheers, tim
  14. I learn so much with every new post Dave. Thanks for taking the time to document it all. Cheers my friend.
  15. Brad, those outdoor shots really show the car off nicely. Don't know about the dried mud (? ) its sitting in but the paint and detail really pop on it. Nice job sir. Cheers, Tim
  16. Well, took me long enough I know, but the struts are on the chassis. I'll do the lower control arms and steering rack next. I adopted several of Dave's (comp1839) construction techniques when it came to putting them on the chassis. His use of brackets to properly place the strut in position while soldering and the notches in the rails for the strut "cups"....(I notched them using a ball end mill set at the proper angles). Getting the 2 rails to match perfectly was time consuming but worthwhile. I've not acknowledged you individually but I do want to thank each and everyone of you that has shown interest and bothered to comment. Cheers to each of you, Tim
  17. You should nickname it "BEAST" cause it's going to be one!!!!!!!! Some people are just perfectionists and won't settle for less, no matter what the endeavor. You my friend, fit the bill. Cheers, Tim
  18. The carpets and seats look fantastic Cato. Always appreciate your updates. Cheers, tim
  19. YEAH!!! Always love seeing the results Dave of what ever you're making or doing......but for me, it's always the methods that you come up with and share that are of equal interest. Glad to see you jumping back on it. Cheers, Tim
  20. Whhhaatttt????? How'd you do that is what we're all wondering. Cheers,
  21. Thank you guys. I machined the strut "cups" out of brass so I can solder them to the chassis rails. They are 3mm in length and have a .5mm thick wall in the body to stop the strut from passing all the way through. This way the strut can turn inside the cup itself as it will be secured by the nut you see on the top. I'll do something similar for the bottom control arms/brackets. Bending and soldering rails next. cheers here you can see them mounted in the bracket with the proper camber and caster factored in. THANKS DAVE for the info too!
  22. Okay Mr. Teresi, now you're just showing off..........how bout' we just give you some rubber bands, popsicle sticks, soda straws, craft paper and elmers glue. I've no doubt you'd amaze all the same. And yes, I'll be following along like so many others. Cheers, tim
  23. Time for an update right Bruce? Would a "P-L-E-A-S-E" do it? cheers, tim
  24. I'll be watching along with many others Brandon. That's a stunning car you're working on and the 1:1 pics are simply indescribable. I've never built to this scale before and it will be fun to see how much you "throw at it". You're off to an excellent start most assuredly. I picked up a HiroBoy 917LH in 1/12th to tackle some day and I'll be curious of your opinions / experiences in building your Pocher F40. Cheers and good luck! tim
  25. That's astounding detail Cato. Appreciate the "dark side of the engine" shot. Cheers
