  1. I had to go back and stare at the graphics 3 times. You're one talented artist Derrick. Perfectly suited to the build. Nice job. Tim
  2. Sorry to hear of your current health battles Brad. Wasn't aware of what you were dealing with and I ope you get a positive diagnosis and some therapy in place of any surgery so you can get back to feeling yourself. Cheers, Tim
  3. Truly amazing John. The quality, imagination and execution are top notch......and I won't mention (yes I will) HOW DOGGONE FAST you made it from scratch. I'll be looking for you other pics when you post them. Too many quality details on the build to mention.....but please feel free to do so!! Cheers, Tim
  4. Thanks guys...progress has been s-l-o-w if I were to base it upon these pics tonight. I am addressing smaller clean-up "items" on the punch-list and moving closer to getting onto the master cylinder, hand brake, line-loc, pro-valve and pedal assembly. Hey Chris, my lathe arrived today. Haven't taken the time to un-box it yet but I'll get to it this week and let you know what I think of the Sherline. I did the seat in C-fiber twill on the seat surface and cf-kevlar on the back side. I have to touch-up the seat belt holes and a week from now, clear coat it. Too many hours to make the templates and trim / apply these buggers. I "strongly dislike" doing decals such as these but it's another check off the list. Cheers, Tim
  5. Superb Chris. You're picking up the soldering / brass work fabrication VERY quickly. Clean work!!! Cheers, Tim
  6. Hi Michael, for what it's worth as a scratch-builder and budding "old-school" machinist..........3D v. scratch-building, old-school machining v. CNC.......doesn't matter. I'd say just pick out what you want to do, "own it" and do it the way YOU want to. It's a hobby is my sentiment and you should have fun & derive your own personal satisfaction while doing it. Build for yourself and what makes ya' happy is all I'm saying. Cheers, Tim
  7. Cato, totally fantastic. As visitors to the forum, we're limited by the provided photos to discern the quality of a build. Yes, your build looks great but the true measure of what you've been doing on the build in all of the preparation and fine-tuning at this juncture is simply incalculable. Your efforts will all be realized when it's finally sitting in front of the judges and on your shelf some day. Suitably impressed. Cheers, Tim
  8. It's easy to see that you fall into the "own worst critic" camp Ray. The set of headers you just completed ARE better, but no one would have faulted you for the last pair. Glad to see you didn't "settle" though......and I'm sure you enjoyed that cocktail all the more today. Cheers, Tim
  9. Really well done John. Be proud dude, that's a trick build if ever there was one. Congrats. Cheers, Tim
  10. Got the seat support in and the final shape of the seat with more primer. Some minor support bars and seat belt brackets, joint clean-up, then moving on. Cheers, Tim
  11. Nice update Ray, those flow so well together. One quick question, in your pics from the side, the front wheel looks to be moved forward away from the center-line marked on your base. Will the wheel/tire be located as seen in the pics or did you move it for the sake of taking this set of pics? Cheers, Tim
  12. That's looking pretty cool Leonard. Like your decision to chop off the front end and will follow along most assuredly. Cheers, Tim
  13. Thanks guys for your posts and positive comments. No pics yet but soon. I've been spending the last couple weeks gathering research, sourcing new raw materials, like carbon tube for the front disc brakes and buying a couple of new tools to try out. (one is a Sherline lathe that I've been wanting for some time now with some interesting tooling options) This week I finalized the seat and it will be ready for CF decals soon (I now understand why Dave and Clay spent so much time on theirs) and making bracing to secure it, which I hope to get started installing today. Then it's onto the master cylinder / hand brake and pedal system. Hanging the doors will follow the completion of these sub-assemblies. And on and on. Cheers to each and everyone of you! Tim
  14. I can tell you're having fun Ray. That pic of engine you shared with us is phenomenal. THAT would be a great one to replicate EXACTLY for your rod. (hint, hint, I still like the single carb concept) Thanks for posting and sharing. Cheers, Tim
  15. And my only thought when seeing this current update was...........John, only John. I like it ALL. The drape of the blue coil wire, the spark plug wire numbers, the header EG sensors........my eyes just wander over the whole thing. Amazing work my friend. Cheers, Tim
  16. Hey Brad, that's looking nice man. I really like the gaps and accuracy of your headers. Your car is shaping nicely! btw, I put the Braille battery decals on today.......and do they look sharp and the next time I post some update pics, I'll be sure to post one. Thanks so much for the favor. I owe you one. Cheers, Tim
  17. Cesar, sorry I didn't post sooner but this car is amazing. Your attention to the little details is just fantastic. I marveled at the texture on the roof that you achieved. Congratulations on a VERY sweet car. Cheers, Tim
  18. John, really like the way you captured the "period" aspect of the electrics and fuel lines. Another fine example of how you capture/create realism in your builds. Cheers, Tim
  19. N-I-C-E !!! That does it for you now, welcome to fully certifiable "metal madness". Joints look good, design is cool and you knocked it out very quickly, what more could you ask for. I'm sure you're psyched up for the next step now. Cheers, Tim
  20. Ray, thanks for the pics. Every scratch-builder ( and even those that don't scratch) have to be interested in the "how'd he do that" aspect of a build. I always learn something and like to try others techniques and methods on my own build(s). Appreciate ALL the time you're taking to take the pics and offer detailed descriptions as you go. btw, I'm using & learning how to use butane torch ( I think I have the same one you do) more and more on certain parts too and like what it can do when fabbing a particular part. Best to you, Cheers, Tim
  21. That is lovely to look at. Just "WOW". Cheers, Tim
  22. Well done Randy. That color is outstanding. Any engine pics by chance? Tim
  23. What to say John? I'm just dumbfounded is about it. So many "little" details that you just nail time after time that separate your builds from all the rest. Just the description of how you captured the color of the battery caps pretty much says it all. And of course, you work faster than ANYONE on the planet. Will be following most assuredly and can't wait to see whats in store with the engine. You must be very satisfied with how it's turning out. Cheers, Tim
  24. Hey Brad, first I want to thank you for the custom Braille battery decals you made up for me. They look great and will look sharp on the batteries I've no doubt. That was a nice offer on your part and I wanted to acknowledge it "publicly". Sorry to hear about the solder/header electroplating issue but try it on some other brass part you might fab yet.....I just don't want to see you give up on it as it does work and it makes a pretty cool addition to a build. If you think I can be of any further assistance, send me a PM please. Cheers, Tim
