  1. The little woman wants me to build one with a working rumble seat but I don't know of any kits (besides an old metal body kit) where the seat is an available option.
  2. I painted the rims with Testor's clear green just to do something different. There's was no significant thought behind the choice to do that.
  3. Any idea who did the painting? I love it.
  4. I like the color combination on the body as well as the contrast with the red up front.
  5. Yep. I grabbed it for about $8 with a Michael's coupon. It took about two days off and on to build the whole thing (that included painting it). Sometimes it's nice to just finish something. I like the '34 Fords and thought this would make a nice display model.
  6. I got these last week at a local library/book sale. Not bad for $8.50. All are coffee table sized books and the Encyclopedia of American Cars book is easily 3-400 pages alone.
  7. I built this in-between other builds. Just a quick, clean, and fun build. Can anyone guess the kit?
  8. Great job. I like the decals on the doors!
  9. Beautiful work all around!
  10. Beautifully done. I have several of these show cars and I haven't come close to starting even one of them.

    '48 Ford Custom

Thanks guys, ignore my second post. I thought I only saw 3 pics, added the 4th, and now see it in my original post. I might be losing my mind.

I guess they only allow three pics per post...
  13. Just finished this. Wanted to post a few pics before showering, eating, and watching the last episode of the largely horrible True Blood. Again, the picture quality does not do justice to the finished work (in my opinion).
  14. Randy, her interest is always great motivation for me. I sometimes get modeling ADD and will abandon things halfway through. But when she keeps asking me "Is my car finished, is my car finished?" it really keeps me going! I also built a Coral Blue Mustang for her, which she loved, and a Moebius Invisible Man, who she refers to as "Vizzy." She hated the Gremlin drag car that I recently completed - we don't have the same tastes most of the time. And she hates the '30's Fords - that is almost sacreligious!!!
  15. Hi Brian, the pinstripes came with the kit. Revell was kind enough to supply mutiple variants in three different colors - white, black, and gold!
  16. Ken, sorry for the delayed response. I went back and checked the box and you're right - the headlights were meant to be frenched. What's interesting is that the instructions show the chrome headlight buckets being mounted outside and I actually followed through without thinking about it. To be honest, I like the look - the addition of just a bit more chrome is not hurting things!
  17. Hi Ken - the headlights were straight out of the kit.
  18. Thanks Ray, it actually looks better and glossier than the pictures show. Too much of the metallic is getting picked up.
  19. And thanks to Mike for the replacement "glass!"
  20. It's not often that I get a request from the 'woman of the house' to build something, so when I do, I accommodate her. She picked out the color, the bumpers, grille, and pinstriping. I had a firm "no flames" order.
  21. Thanks for the comments, guys! To Shawn - the front tires are the kit supplied tires and they're not slicks. I believe they're the street versions tires. I think they just appear to be slicks in the photo because the light didn't capture the tread detail.
  22. Thanks Ray. I've been making some dumb mistakes lately and I think I'm just being a bit too hard on myself. I have to always remember it's supposed to be fun and relaxing, and that every finished model is an accomplishment to be proud of.
  23. And one more pic for the heck of it...
  24. I finished it... I didn't love this kit. Lots of fit issues made it a chore, but in the end, it looks ok, so I can't complain too much...
