  1. put it on very thin , don't slather it on, also use a soft brush. you can add coats if needed
  2. I respect the realistic type builds , I think they deserve a point for however being modified yet still remain realistic. these cars that are slammed with huge wheels that could not even clear the fenders to steer or change a tire and the front bay completely chopped out where nothing could possibly hold the remaining sheet metal from crumpling in a pile if you leaned on it...or where the suspension is non existant so the builder never showcases the chassis .. I consider that "art building" but not deserving of points above a vehicle that the builder addressed these necessary issues... these builds should be judged differently.. perhaps in a "curbside plus" category I have nothing against p.e.details and all that but I agree clean is everything
  3. .. ......those pesky mayans
  4. can you be more specific? I can't tell much difference
  5. if you have windows movie maker , here are the settings I use
  6. I cobbled together various charts I have found spread about the web I made corrections, added a few things.and created a clean 1 page landscape printout So it's here to share and pass around freely.(v 1.0) *note- my logo is just for identification( I put a lot of time into the chart), not meant as an ad. (I currently can not take any custom orders.. thanks) please feel free to make any suggestions, corrections, additions. I have it in illustrator so any changes add-on's would be simple to incorporate into v 2.0. just post them here. Andy's Auto Conversion Chart.pdf
  7. * note the product link is only for the case ... does not include the bits
  8. black(primer) works well under all the metallics , only necessary for the chromes
  9. I use both products and never had a problem with MM metalizers .. I've heavily buffed and masked them on many projects, just like alclads they have their correct process of applieing them.
  10. I'll second that ,, don't mix the brush in the full bottle of thinner .. remove some to clean with.
  11. My philosophy is ,concentrate on a good compressor/ or co2 source, the best you can afford..it's the heart of your system and usually the most expensive part(including filters, hoses, fittings). if it needs to be quiet/silent it's going to cost a bit more. even if that means saving up a bit for a quality airbrush later if you have a budget and sink most of it into a quality AB and are forced to compromise on a cheapo compressor that can't do the job and pulsates you might be disappointed in the long run. I would rather be stuck with a cheap learner AB and a quality quiet compressor for a while than the other way around
  12. Nice Pete, I've done it as well with good results .
  13. It does take a bit of caution to paint a full body , and I use a stubby holder to be able to turn the model in any direction . I normally spray my bodies in the garage but it's very possible to do within the booth. even from the outer edge of the booth the fan draws the overspray into the filter very well ... the grey primer in the back floor of the booth was from me forgetting to turn the fan on
  14. here's my pace mini plus 24" , I painted the yellow using the don yost technique just this morning.. it captures all the overspray and nearly all traces of fumes very well. it's not "microwave-like" at all
  15. I made some from clear flouresent bulb tube from home depot.. It's thin clear plastic that slides over the bulb in case it breaks.. a 4' stick was cheap . I cut to length than just glued on some styrene to make a base
  16. work on another easier build while you plan and tinker with the pro street, .. lots of builders work that way while paint or glue is curing , work on the bigger project. it works for me that way edit* sorry I shouldn't say "work" it's not meant to be ,, I need to work on that,, it's a hobby
  17. you can print the decals on clear decal paper than apply it over bmf ...

  19. I would be most concerned about a lint emmiting dryer in the paint room ,it's not the ideal paint area but we do what we have to sometimes
