Finished Webber’s

Going to get my butt in gear and start assembling. Going to add a little detail to the Webber carbs. Not a lot , just a few brass screws and other brass items. Otherwise they give you a great start on the carbs. Going out of order of assembly. As most of us modelers do. Here is a pic of the carbs without detail. Remember not going to add a lot. You really could get carried away but not this one. I have a MFH Porsche 917/30 that will get plenty of detail.

I have been in the automotive repair business since 1969. I have seen so many changes. As a sponsor of hot august nights , I have seen a decline of restored cars to the restomods. So there will always be money in it. That is some what sad for real car guys that have to work every day for a income. The first real change I saw in the eighties, the vw bugs. Kids could afford them and there are all different ways to make them. Gas was a big factor. Then I saw the Honda cars. You could now go fast and afford it. And there is the gas factor again. Now mind you that the car collector thing is still going on, but there is a new car culture behind it all. I believe all of you are correct in your own eyes. It’s what you can afford . This is why rat rods became popular. . Money dictates which direction you will go . I love them all, VW’s , Honda’s , Muscle cars, Sports cars, Drifters , Drag and the list goes on. Now my boy makes a great living, he is 32 years old with $250,000 a year he can buy what he likes. Not all are like this , a lot still live at home. His friend is 32 and has a dental reconstruction business. He makes over 1 mill a year. So he has 32 fords. He is the youngest to have a car on the cover of rodders journal. Number 49. So it really depends what you make. This takes you to what kind of car you will get. It’s always about the money. Sad to say but it’s true

I had a 1/32 cobra Daytona coupe for my slot car years ago. Did monogram make it? I cannot remember who did, I used to race it on a slot car track at my friends house. His dad had a killer 4 lane 1:32 track. Mark loved Ferrari’s and I had a rage tag Daytona coupe. But it sure was fun!!! Your Porsche sure is cool

Well it’s finished. Our Silver Springs Club Build. Anything Monogram. It is not perfect by far. First NASCAR model I have finished. This is supposed to be Dale Jarrett, Robert Yates car. I guess it was Davy, Ernie , then Dale. Out of box. The rules are no after market parts. You can use aftermarket decals as most of these kits are old and the decals are bad. The next one , I will try to be better. The object of the club build is to keep cost low and the build simple.

Fisher model.1/32 . This is a repost. Pitts biplane. Very fun build. Resin , brass and photoetch. Painted red and grabber blue. First resin model and first plane I have built. Had to solder brass parts. A lot of sanding since it was resin. The fit was really good. This build was way out of my comfort zone. Doing a Wing nut wings Albatros. This is also way out of my comfort zone but giving it a try. Hope you like.

Thank you sir. Slixx decals that are very old and they work great. The black with the yellow and red are very striking. The NASCAR guys know how to make cars look good. I have a question. Is the roll cage grey or red? The instructions say red , but the box Art is grey. Thank you.

Fantastic Mr Laski! I’m trying a NASCAR also. First one and out of box. I’m not a decal guy because I’m not very good with them. But I got out of my comfort zone and trying it. I learned a lot watching this build. Thank you for the info. Beautiful build sir.

Monogram thunderbird. My first NASCAR model. If your into NASCAR you better like decals. I ,on the other hand ,am not good at decals. The Silver Springs Model club are building anything monogram. Out of box only. Our club is getting back to basics. Here is my humble start.
