  1. Ok gents...here's some the results from the weekend's considerable bench time. Most of the time was spent on the water heater and now its plumbed with a gas line. The water line will come in from the backside of the wall in the bathroom. I glued the galley cabinet to the bathroom walls so its now one piece. Had a bit of fitment issues and had to sand the curvature of the bathroom wall. The bathroom door got a piece of thin Evergreen stock like the rest of the bathroom interior. I'm still working on a threshold for the door since it has a drain pan and had to be stepped over to get into the bathroom. I also worked on the from hubcaps by drilling out the centers for the 4WD hub centers which extends through the hubcap. Those had to be made too. I screwed one of them up and had to use some bondo to fix it. Of course that had to dry before sanding, sealing and hitting it with some light grey primer. They got hit with a coat of white paint this morning. Here's a couple of pictures of the galley/bathroom cabinet. The door handle actually works. Thanks so much for your interest. I'm closing in on the DSC deadline of April 11th.
  2. Thanks Buzz and Chris. Yea getting some bench time in this weekend and now have the water heater finished up with the propane line and the exhaust vent pipe. Have been working on the hub caps and knock out hubs for the front and they're now in primer. I want to get the lining for the bathroom door done before calling it a night. We'll see how it goes.
  3. Stellar stuff Bill. I really am liking where this is headed. That stance is perfect.
  4. Thanks Danno. I hope to get a bit more done this afternoon after some yard work first.
  5. Alright fellas, the wall mount water heater is done with the exception of the exhaust chimney, which is made so I just need to install it after trimming its length to fit the curvature of the ceiling. This was all scratch built using Evergreen, brass brads, piano wire, a white headlight bucket and a decal from the decal box. It all raw, polished plastic. Its mounted to the wall to go above the galley cabinet. I like the way it came out. Here' a few pictures. As always, thanks for following along and comments encouraged.
  6. Many thanks Art. Constructing this like the full scale thing is the only way I saw of doing this because the roof will be lifting off so the aluminum ribs would show. Hope to get a bunch of bench time in this weekend. Here's a couple of images of the instant water heater I'm currently working on.
  7. That bell housing color looks great and the subtle difference in color for the covers was a wise decision. You're close on the tranny blanket colors. It appears the lighter color needs a bit less green and a bit more blue.
  8. A bit more work done on the driver's side cabinet by getting the second wardrobe door on and hinged. Also put in a shelf and clothes hanging rod. The water heater has been made and needs to be detailed with ceramic knobs, exhaust vent, incoming propane line and a few small decals. The 2 propane tanks for the rear bumper should be here any day, not that I'm held up on them. I am a bit held up on the commode coming in the mail that was back ordered. With DSC a little over a month away, the schedule is getting really tight.
  9. Oh yea...that's like the real thing. If you're shooting for DSC, I better get back to work on the decals along with the new ones you sent.
  10. The printable fabric paper comes on a card stock paper backing which peels of without any residue. I was able to bend it around my scale 'mattress' without a problem and plan on using for my curtains on the Scout Truck.
  11. Art...any more progress on this? I've got midget on the brain or is it I have a midget brain?
  12. Ok Chris...its suppose to be sunny the rest of the week. Get some paint on those bad boy parts. I still think you should use some fabric paper and print a color on a sheet. The fabric texture is really small and tight.
  13. LOL. Wally wore a pith helmet but I'm not so sure PeeWee or his traveling companion did. I've made one so putting it in the cab or camper makes alot of sense. Thanks for the input.
  14. Glad you're finding some inspiration from my build Mike. Thanks for the comment. Spend a good amount of time building the driver's side cabinet with drawer fronts and wardrobe cabinet. The wardrobe cabinet still needs the other door but the one is done. I set the finished other door on a resin tire for the paint on the inside to dry and when I turned it over, the wood finish was messed up. I'll need to make another door. I plan on having a few garments on hangers in there when its all said and done. Making those will be a challenge. Here's a couple of pictures. Thanks probably all for today. Thanks for your interest and following along. Comments always welcome.
  15. Thanks lil brother John. DSC is my target date. We'll see how it goes. Appreciate your comments Troy. Thanks for tagging along. Getting some bench time in last night and today as well since its overcast and sprinkling. Yard work can wait. I'll post some pics later this afternoon.
  16. Forecast calls for four days of rain just when you're ready to finally get some painting done. Wouldn't ya know it?
  17. Outstanding !! Glad to hear the second one went well. I know where to order some when I need them. OK, what's the significance of the '55 on the penny? It must mean something.
  18. Wow Tom. Those are both really nice. So glad you found inspiration from my work. Doesn't look like either one of them is finished though so it appears like you're a bit like me and move onto other builds before completing the current one. Please finish them up.
  19. Hey Tom, where'd this one end up?
  20. That is so nice and the trick will be to match the first one. What grade of aluminum are you using?
  21. Thanks lil' brother. This has been alot of fun putting this interior together. Next up is the bathroom. I just ordered a scale toilet from Oakridge Hobbies along with some propane tanks from Larry G Scale as well as some other items so stuff should start coming in. I'm looking forward to all of the exposed plumbing in the bathroom / shower, also known as a 'wet bath.' Stay tuned.
  22. Great update Art. With a lot of the chassis in solid brass rod and the tank and front body panel in die-cast, this build is going to way a ton. You better use solid tires or they'll be flat in no time. LOL
