Here's this weekend update. The cab is mostly done. Air deflector still need to be painted, decaled, & mounted; and the P/E logos & door handles need to be attached. There is also some small touch-up painting that needs to be done, but it's a lot closer than it's been in years.

Both the 71 & 92 Series engines were offered with & without turbos.

As I understand it, the 71 & 92 Series engines are very similar externally. The valve covers are different, though. As for the 12V71, try Mo'Luminum: http://moluminum-com.3dcartstores.com/V12-Engine_p_69.html

Well, Sheriff is starting to take shape: Hoping to get the engine finished up this weekend & completely installed; then start on the interior. Fit in general has been pretty poor.

That's the same basic conclusion that I came up with, too.

I was chatting with some friends this morning, and we were talking about Black Friday & whatnot. The conversation turned to Hobby Lobby and their impending bankruptcy & store closings. HAs anyone else heard anything about this? I did an Internet search, but only turned up Hobby Lobby's opposition to some Affordable Care Act mandates. I do NOT want this thread to turn political. All I want to do is confirm or refute the Hobby Lobby bankruptcy story.

Interesting show, Ellen. I was in Richmond, VA, last July. The Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens are really nice. They had a Lego display going on while we were there. I think I remember those two gas stations. We were staying at the Days Inn Glenn Allen on Brook Road.

Oh, it's not a rebuilder. It's a shelved project that was never completed, but yes, there will be a few recycled parts on it.

Thanks, Gator. The frame really just needs a shower (five years of dust really adds up), then all of the parts that come off in the shower will have to be put back on. The engine is in primer right now so that will have to be painted & detailed. I think the hardest part will be running the plumbing for the air & exhaust. At this point the cab is just reglue the steering column, then put it all together.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I don't think it will be done by Monday, though. Hopefully I'll make some progress this weekend.

So in my never ending quest to clear up the "Shelf of Shame", I have pulled my 1975 Kenworth K100 Oneida Freight out of moth-balls & onto the work bench. Why I do this when it's cold & I cannot use spray paint, I have no idea. Anyway, this is what I am going for: I started with the AMT Kenworth K123 kit back on 24 JAN 12, and this is where I am right now. I wanted to show you exactly how it looks with the dust & broken parts & all (ok, I did remove a dead bug from being wedged between the passenger seat & the doghouse). Frame: Engine (swapping out the Cummins NTA370 for a Caterpillar 3408; larger radiator from AMT K100 Aerodyne kit): Interior: Cab (replacing the narrow grill from the kit with the grill from the AMT K100 Aerodyne): And that's where we stand. More updates soon, I hope.

That looks awesome. Just the right amount of weathering for a well used, old workhorse. Is that a Swedish registry sticker I see on the left rear quarter fender?
