  1. Sam, you probably are using the wrong "telephone" wire. There are lots of different types (I work in the telephone industry, trust me). For wiring & plumbing you need a solid wire (around 26 or 24 awg) that you'll find in CAT5 or CAT6 cable. CAT5 is a 4-pair (8-wire) 24awg, solid, tinned copper wire cable. You should be able to get a spool at Radio Shack. Now using solder brings up an interesting discussion. Just how big are the air lines on a truck anyway? I would have to assume (dangerous word) that the main air lines from the compressor to the air tanks would be larger than the lines from the wheel lock modulators to the air brake housings. What about the air lines in an air ride suspension? I have a diagram that has the air line as 3/16" ID. Well, that's all fine, well, & good; but what's the outer diameter?
  2. Those look nice. They would look right at home on the PeoStar.
  3. Looks great outside. I'm sure this will look really nice with the traier you have planned. Any ideas for a load yet?
  4. Those are the big, goofy-looking, custom stacks that are popular on Large-Car custom trucks. I agree with you, they would be out of place on a Ford LN8000 work truck. Stick with either the 5" stack or the grass-burner exhaust.
  5. That's really sweet! Great looking heavy hauler. Don't think I've erer seen a T800 with a grill like that.
  6. Absolutely fantastic! Great details on both the tractor & trailer.
  7. Beautiful job on The Love Machine & trailer. Very well done.
  8. I thought Illini Replicas offered one, but the Illini page on the AITM page isn't working. Contact Dave to see.
  9. Thanks for the info, guys. I'm kind of thinking they are dark green as well.
  10. Looks nice. I think a lift axle would be perfect.
  11. Should be nice. Did you get that in Utica?
  12. If the cab looks like the California Hauler cab (square doors, small windshield) it's the Unilite cab. Rounded doors & larger windshield (like the other AMT Peterbilt 359 kit) it's the 1100-Series cab.
  13. Thanks foe the information. I'll have to check it out.
  14. I'm going to have to check with Dave to see if he has the 1972 Dodge D300 grill for Squad 51.
  15. Looking good so far. Nice job on the tank seams.
  16. Where did you get the utility box & decals? I got my decals from Police Decals & Deals in eBay (now that they're correct). I know JBot sells them, too.
  17. Wow, where do I start? I guess my first truck modeling goal is tio finish what I've already started! Sort of figure that's a good plan. As for new builds, I have all of the parts to make a relitavely accurate 1992 Kenworth T600 from the AMT kit, and I want to make a Peterbilt 288 from the reissued California Hauler kit. As far as long range goals, I have planned: Sonny Pruit's W900 from Movin' On Will Chandler's K100 from In Tandem Snowman's W900 from Smokey & the Bandit American LaFrance Century Series Ladder Chief 1968 American LaFrance 900-Series AeroChief from Syracuse FD 1973 Ward LaFrance P80 Engine 51 pumper from Emergency! 1972 Dodge D300 Squad 51 from Emergency! Ford F8 tractor and the list goes on.....
  18. I use these cases from Pioneer Plastics for my tractors: https://www.pioneerplastics.com/product-category/display-case/diecast/118-oversize/ They work quite well, and you can get them at Hobby Lobby (sometimes). The Moebuis LoneStar was a little tall, though, so I just flipped the base over.
  19. Try here: http://armorama.kitmaker.net/ There is even a specific Russian/Soviet Forum dealing only in Russian military equipment. Good luck with your project, and post some pics when you get started.
  20. Do we really know what's in the Frosted Flakes box? It is the 1970s!
  21. Pretty cool diorama.. Lots of details.
  22. Good luck finding a replacement belt for that if it brakes. Is that a Page & Page rear suspension? What year & model is this Kenworth?
  23. Very nice conversion to the 36" sleeper. I really like it. Great color, too. Not a big fan of those stacks (but then again it's not my model), and it looks like your engine needs a serious tune-up.
