  1. Jason, Check here: http://sourkrautsmodeltrucks.com/?page_id=...;product_id=303
  2. If you want an oilfield trailer, look here: http://sourkrautsmodeltrucks.com/?page_id=3&category=17 Its $175, and it doesn't come with wheels or tires; but it's a start.
  3. Aaron, Somehow I knoew that you would know. I managed to find a Wikipedia article on American LaFrance, and it had some good information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_LaFrance If you scroll all the way to the bottom, it gives a list of the fire apparatus that American LaFrance made, and it list the 1000 Century Series as being built from 1970-74. I red the thread that you linked from Scale Fire house, and not being a firefighter, knowing any firefighters, or playing a firefighter on TV; I really don't have a clue what they're talking about. I'll have to do some more digging into fire apparatis terminology. The fire engine that is your avitar, is that the AMT pumper with the Models by Dave Ward LaFrance cab?
  4. I just purchased the AMT American-LaFrance Pumper, and I'm looking for some info on the kit. Does anyone know what model this truck is supposed to be? How about an approximate year? I know it's 1970s (like all of AMTs kits). Are there any pitfalls in the kit that I should watch out for? Thanks, Jim
  5. Very nice. I'm becomming sort of fond of these older trucks. Yes, please do think about getting it cast. This one, the Ford, and a GMC Crackerbox. I'd be a happy camper!
  6. Very nice! Are you going to do a trailer for it too? How about a load? I know you don't do cars, but there's always pick-ups.
  7. A production model? What do you mean?
  8. Thanks, guys. I'm glad you like it.
  9. Aaron, If you take a look at this: http://public.fotki.com/modeltrucks25thsca...rochure_15.html There is a small picture on the bottom left, and it appears that the entire cab tilts. It's the only picture I've seen of a H-series titled.
  10. Like the Dodge, too. Some of those old trucks are pretty cool. Got a friend in Illinois that is trying to scratch build a L-1000 cab. Not exactly sure how he's coming along, though. He's doing a day-cab version.
  11. Well, it's finally done! After inumerable delays, two run-ins with the cats (Cats - 2, Truck - 0), lost parts, etc.; I am proud to present my completed Ford LN8000 Short Hauler. Enjoy! Hope you liked it. Extras include: wired engine (per Ken Smith's article), Ryder decals from Model Express, Ford logo decals from (the now defunct) DMTW, 2-hole Budds from Dave @ AITM, steerable front axle, & tilting hood. Now, if I could just figure out how to change the title of this thread from "WIP" to "Complete"
  12. Nice old truck. How did you do the lower part of the cab? Is it just sheet stock with strips glued on? Inquiring minds want to know!
  13. Thanks, guys. It's coming along. Dave, I'm looking forward to the finished photos, too!
  14. Chevrolet (like GMC) got out of the heavy-duty (US Class 8) truck market in the mid 1980s. The current comercial line-up of Chevrolet trucks includes the Kodiak, W-series, & T-series trucks. The biggest Kodiak is the C8500 tandem with a GVWR of up to 63000lbs, and the offer either the Isuzu 6H diesel or the Cat C7 deisel. The latest (and only) brochure I could find for the Bison was 1980. It didn't mention anything about BBC dimensions, but I did get a good list of available engines. The standard was the 8V71N; or you could choose one of the following options depending on the model you wanted (singel vs. tandem rear axel): 6-71N, 6-71T, 6V-92TA, TTA, TTAC; 8V-71TA, TTA TAC; 8V-92TA, TTA, TTAC; NTC290, Formula 290, NTC 350, Formula 350, NTC 400, or 3406. Right out of the box your Bison kit represents a 1977-78 truck. Hope this helped.
  15. Here are a couple of Brockways that I saw while I was at the New York State Fair in Syracuse, NY, on Labor Day (9/1/08). The first one is a 1970 361, and the second one is a 1937 (no model given). As you know, Brockway used to build trucks here in Upstate New York in their Cortland facility. Enjoy!
  16. He's probably talking about this one: http://pete389.proboards54.com/index.cgi?a...=783&page=1 You could check here, too: http://public.fotki.com/modeltrucks25thsca...mack_n-40_1958/
  17. How about this? http://public.fotki.com/modeltrucks25thsca...july_1991_cate/ I used this on my Peterbilt 359, and it looked really nice.
  18. Orange & brown plaid seat covers? Groovy, man! Where can I get some of those?
  19. After squandering away most of May, and all of June & July (not to mention February, March & April); I managed to get the frame completed! The stacks are from KFS, and were easier to work with that I figured (yes, I know, they're not totally straight). Next up is the interior & the cab. Enjoy!
  20. Let's just hope that the plastic is white and not orange like the two old ones I have.
  21. Well, that's an interesting twist. I wonder if Navistar will still make International. Think you'll be able to get a Caterpillar truck in anything buy yellow?
  22. I doubt it. Caterpillar is still Caterpillar, and they'll still hammer anybody that uses there name, logo, likeness, or what-have-you without permission. I'm surpprised that the moderators of this forum haven't gotten an email about this thread because we used there name (four times!). I'm actually trying to avod using Caterpillar (I said it again!) engines in my models because if that. I also generally refer to them as You-Know-Who! Go Cummins!
  23. Matt, Good to see you casting again. Will this be available through you or through Brad at BRL?
  24. We aim to please!
