  1. So you paid 400$ for a car that was 10 years old, probably had past 100000 miles with mud UNDER the package shelf, no less. Yep, all those Chevelles were definitely POS.
  2. One of the best I've seen. Good job!
  3. Thanks Ben! After the pictures I applied the wood paneling decals, and started rolling up the straps. It's looking rather nice. Tomorrow, I'll buy some scale chain and hooks to finish . Red and white stripes next... Another update soon.
  4. Take the cab off, the engine... probably the transmission too. Add the Caterpillar engine from the Ford LN 9000. The cab from a 1973-1987 chevy pickup. You'll have to modify the front end, hood and fenders to get your Kodiak hood, use the headlights from a1980 Monte Carlo. You can retain the fuel tanks, they already look like the ones from the real truck. Actually... The only tougher part will be the hood and fenders You might want to use the hood and top of the pickup truck's fenders, extend the front grill with evergreen plastic stock. So you're down to the extended fenders. You could use the ones from the GMC 9500 that AITM sells. They look to be kinda close to the real thing. That is going to be interesting for somebody who really wants to accomplish this replica!
  5. Hi again, another update. The trailer's painted, silver decks and metallic red underside and suspension. It'll match my Laidlaw Peterbilt. The wheels are painted Alclad white aluminum with the hubs painted to match the frame, I don't like them much as the castings are so-so, might change them for KFS units (2 holes??) I'll keep these for now. I added dock bumpers, tail lights and the rear clearance lights. I applied bare metal foil to the tool boxes, and sanded the molded-on locks to make place for photo etch units from KFS. I added a photo etch license plate holder and some eagle emblems on the flap supports. I applied bare metal foil to the rear "bumper" panel. I still have to finish the deck with some "wood" panel decals, print some conspicuity decals and finish the load straps. Next step, choose a load.then add a headache rack on the Peterbilt and show the whole thing in "under glass".
  6. I like the paint schemes on the 379 and the 352. You added a nice touch by adding the anti-sail on the trailer mudflaps.
  7. Sergey, you really do beautiful work! I have never seen so many details added to a basic kit. This replica is priceless! If I may, and I say this with humility, I only see one weaker point with the truck, and it's the kit wheels. These rims are way out of their league with the quality of work you have put into this Mack. AMT used these in all their truck kits with disc wheels and have seen their first use in the original AMT T500 Peterbilt California Hauler. They are way out of date and inaccurate with later model trucks like the Cruiseliner. A nice set of wheels, from either KFS, Ben Wicker or Michael Cherry (MCA) would work wonders and really be up to snuf with the rest of your build. But that is my 2 cents and I really like what you have done up to now, Whatever you do with it, it is going to be a knock-out! Show winning material for sure.
  8. It's in the details I tell ya! Your Kenny looks 'substantial'! That is what makes it. The color's great, you even used the kit decals. You added the right details. I like it!
  9. The Pete snap kit with the short sleeper has a 3406 Cat. The Revell of Germany Peterbilt with the big sleeper cab has a twin turbo Cummins. The Revell of Germany Kenworth W900 with flat top has a 3408 Cat, and the snap aerodyne Kenwirth W900 has the same 3406 Cat as the snap Pete.
  10. Thanks guys, I gave it its first coat of primer last night. It's going to need some sanding, then more primer, then the paint. That should happen next week-end. I'll keep you posted. In fact, I'm getting excited about this myself! I'm pretty sure this is going to look good, I know it sounds trivial, but i'm really looking forward to installing the load straps on there! So I'm decided on the trailer colors, the platform upper surfaces will be aluminum silver and the underside red. Straps will likely be yellow, mud flaps white, tool boxes bare metal foiled. The wheels will be shot with Alcald white aluminum (low sheen). Stay tuned!
  11. Whoa! Nice Mack, love that stake bed, nicely detailed. Just beautiful! Those are nice classics.
  12. I'm back with an update and pics. I've added some side rails to the trailer as there weren't any in the kit. It's an Australian spec trailer so they hook their loads differently over there. I used some Plastruct and Evergreen parts to work rails and supports out. I fnally figured out how to make my load strap winches... I used aluminum 8mm "U" shaped extrusion (from the hardware store) for the frame, aluminum tubing for the shaft, then my girlfriend gave me some flower shaped 5mm dia jewels that I ground flat (on one side) to get the ratchet gears. I know, the assemblies are slightly out of proportion but they're not overly so. They still look pretty good. I also found the perfect sized straps (3mm wide) to make the tie-downs. I got that in red, yellow and orange from WalMart's hobby dept to see which one will fit best with the trailer colors. I installed wire hooks on the right side. I'm also adding 2 AITM 48 inch toolboxes which will be covered in Bare Metal foil. On with the pictures for explaination: Picture of wire hook other view of hooks The siderails The load strap winches other view of winches Yellow strap material My choice of strap colors AITM 48 inch toolbox Thanks for lookin'!
  13. Nice work IH David, good weathering! Randy, that is one nice piece you have there! Of course the whole effort being negated by the inlet grill...
  14. Can't wait to see this Big Ol' Mack done! Sure is going to be sturdy...
  15. I like those double bunk K100 with a flat roof! Nice change from the Aerodyne!
  16. With some work, these kits can look really good. Very nice paint application, the white color seems really smooth. I like your choice of stripe decals. Nice hose and cable setup in the back, Good idea putting the Revell of Ger. headache rack and rear bumper. You also toned down the chrome, which is nice. The only thing I always ask myself with these snap kit is why the long tail on that frame?? The other thing... Those tires, just hate them. But you have done a very nice job Pavel, welcome to this place too!
  17. Post big rigs here, any of them. Check out for a couple Kenworth K100's and one Peterbilt 352, you'll also find other more "standard" 1:16 scale trucks too. Post them up in big boys if you want, but you'll get the interest of the truck guys mostly here!
  18. Thanks for the tip Tony. Actually, what I'm going to do is use the "wood" trailer decals from Mobeltruckin for parts of the floor and probably some diamond plate right over the wheel sections. Not quite decided on that yet. But I found out how to make the laod starp winches though! i'm pretty happy about that. I'll post pictures tomorrow. Now I have to install hooks on the opposite side of the trailer. I'll keep you posted. Once I'm done with those, It'll be ready for paint. Stay tuned.
  19. I don't know anything about the wiring, but that black and grey paint scheme will look good!
  20. Is that the facts? If so, I'm not surprised. Italeri didn't give much consideration to this one.
  21. Another masterpiece in the works. You must have bought stocks in Evergreen, this thing is taking yards of styrene sheets man! Carry on!
  22. Lucky dog! You have a nice straight cab to work with! That is lookin' good!
