  1. Almost forgot! 1/43rd is 7MM to the Foot, not inch. 7 MM is a bit over a quarter inch so 7mm to the inch would be a bit bigger than 1/4 scale!!!!!!!! I'll shut up now.
  2. Ya! I knew that, Dave! Can you explain 1/14th?? I know the answer but want to test you! Actually the 1/25 was back in the pantograph days and the patterns were 1/10 because the drawings that Detroit sent to the model companies were in 1/10. They set the pantograph to reduce by 2 1/2 to 1 which of course ends up being 1/25. Of course today everything is digital and they don't even need patterns unless you are doing historical re-enactments like us sorry resin casters.
  3. I like it. You are keeping it very practical and realistic. It stands out from the crowd by not being outrageous.
  4. Excellent!!! Love that splintertail!
  5. I have a tip for those who want a realistic Duesenberg flex exhaust. You know those ultra-cheezy classic car radios that are floating around? One of them is a Deusenberg and while it is quite awful in most respects it has a wound flex exhaust pipe that looks pretty good. Just get a piece of brass rod that fits inside it and bend to shape for each pipe and slip the 'spring' over it and Voila! It looks really good and is a vast improvemment over the injection molded part.
  6. Steve, That is so very cool! I have an original issue of that kit and I knew it could built into a beautiful model and you did it. I love the paint. Perfect! Thanks for sharing.
  7. I love the Lincoln Nascar! I have the reissue that was out a few years ago. I know what to do with it - Luxo-Nascar!! I also have one of the 64 Rivs unbuilt. My very first 1/1 model was a 63 Riv I bought in 73 for $175.00. One of a handful of cars I have owned over the years I would love to have another one of. I have been enjoying your blasts from your past!
  8. Very nice, Lee! It's great to see another Duesenberg fan. Most people don't realise what fantastic cars they are. They had a 265 HP engine when the nearest competition was about 160 HP. I love the Judkins coupe. One of those was owned new by a Minneapolis resident Shreve Archer of Archer Daniels Midland - big time grain dealers. Here is a pic of my almost out of the box Rollston Torpedo phaeton.
  9. It will have a separate grille insert. It will be flat (actually bent slightly down the center) so you can paint whatever you want on it and glue it in. I hope that was the hole you were refering to!
  10. Love the old AMT craftsman series kits. Now THAT'S nostalgia!
  11. Regarding the title of this thread.... :? .... I am confused. I know you will never be Finnish because you are Swedish. In Minnesota you are all known as Scandihoovians! I think we have more Finns and Swedes here than back there.
  12. Almost forgot, the above Ferraris were 1/14th scale. I know it's weird but it's a European thing like 1/43rd is. Makes no sense but 1/25th doesn't either.
  13. Actually, Zeb, this one was. It was done for CMA in the early 90s. I did the patterns, castings and first builds for Marshall Buck. He handled production. I think he said about 50 cars were sold. It was my finest hour, likely not to be repeated. Ah, memories!
  14. No. They came from my parts box and I was told they were an option on an early 60s AMT pick-up kit. I don't know which one. Thanks for the kind words. I am going to enter it in it's first contest at GSL this year. I know it will freak out Mark G. but that is half the fun!
  15. But like a lot of proud older concerns with a rich history they were purchased by a larger vulgar corporation. Remember the Mustang II 'Ghia'? A sad fate for the designers who brought us all of those beautiful Chrysler show cars and the Karmann-Ghia, a few great Pegaso coupes, and many others.
  16. These were real fun to build also! Tamiya base kits with ScaleKraft (Guido Fieuw) resin bodies. Automotive lacquer paint.
  17. I can't tell. Is that fragile?
  18. I tend to do radical things. See pic. That's why I suggested no rad shell. The first custom grill you had would look good if it could reconstructed a little shorter and narrower and raked back like the 34 grille. By the way, you have a great looking car going there.
  19. How about no grille? Lay the radiator flat underneath the car somewhere and just have the motor and some low mounted headlights. It could be a good look.
  20. The Desoto is cooler but I think they are both less than beautiful.
  21. You know, I have used both and I have to say I hate spray cans!!! I always decant into my airbrush. I prefer the Tamiya lacquers but occasionally used Testors for a nostalgia build. I never use acrylics for a paint job. I use lots of Tamiya acrylics for detail painting and interiors or convert tops. Their 'buff' is fantastic for a canvas tan convert top. Basically I will use whatever kind of paint to get the color or finish I need. I have Tamiya, Testors, Gunze, Pactra, Polly S, and possibly other brands in my paint drawer under my bench.
  22. Awsome bild, Dude! What color are ya goona paynt it?
