  1. Dude! You have 160 views! People are looking. It's a good build but the pics lack pizazz. The metallic gray paint is a little boring to some. Maybe that's why there aren't any comments. You did a nice job.
  2. Me likey too! Who needs fat fenders?
  3. Glad to see more classic cars being built. Nice job.
  4. You are prolific. How many models do you finish in a year? I also had a high school buddy who had an early Cougar. He traded that for a 69 Mach 1. Then he got a 70 Cougar Eliminater 428SCJ. Then he bought a Boss 429 for $2000. and had it for about 6 months and then he traded the Eliminater in  for a 4WD Ford pickup. I don't think he has killed himself yet over his lack of foresight. This was all taking place from 73-78.
  5. Atta-Boy!
  6. You need some of these perhaps? They are for mud racers but might be good for your vee-hickle!
  7. You have to love a mid-engine street Porsche. I have a 72 914 in my garage -only 4 cylinders though, but I will take it. I also have this kit and was quite impressed with it. Is that Midas yellow going to be the final color?
  8. One Example. Oooh! He changed the nose! He also cut down the wing support. He did not include the modified interior tub or rollcage that cheez-cast sold with it. He couldn't cast the scoop and hood in one piece like it came originally, either. Oh! Cheez-cast came with vac-form windows, too. Full disclosure time: I mastered this car and let Tim Sandvig cast it as I was on hiatus from resin at the time. I have not seen or heard from Tim S. in many years and would not do business with him any more. I have found out that he ripped off a lot of people from the resin supplier to a long list of customers. Again I say, why has this level of "griping" and such a number of "disgruntled customers" coalesced around any other resin caster? Why aren't there crowds of angry villagers with pitchforks and torches outside of my house? Or any of the other resin casters? HUH! Answer that question without sounding like a politician or a PR person for the poor beleagured subject of this thread. I am going to sign off of this subject. Camps have been formed and enough has been said for the model car community to make their own decisions. The marketplace will take care of things. I just hate to see un-knowing people burned.
  9. Funny thing is this. I have been resin casting for over 25 years now. My first pour was in 1980. I haven't had any trouble with "formulations" of resin.....or rubber. In the first year I was trying different products but when I settled on urethane my resin problems ended. Since then I have tried different urethanes but all have worked well. When I found pressure casting my air bubble problems went away. After that it was all up to me!! You can not blame the materials. You can blame the learning curve (5 years?) but so many people are casting now and doing good work: the knowledge is out there and easy to find. One thing that has not been addressed in this thread is the FACT that the individual who is the subject of this thread has copied other resin guys original work including Perry's, Good Stuff, Fremont, Cheez-cast and who knows how many others. The thing that ices the cake are the lies that are then issued in a feeble attempt to shake people off his tail. Junk, Lies, and Copycat. How about a movie?
  10. I know something about the car because obviously it ia an awesomely cool car. My book"Berlinettas" states that no records were attempted. and claim the body was built post-war. That may be incorrect. I wouldn't stake much on it. I think it would definitely win the next poll, though. Wouldn't you like that parked in your garage next to the Round Door Rolls and the Phantom Corsair!!!!
  11. Ouch! Not. It's true I don't post anything on the In progress section. I think 25 years of SAE event coverage, etc. is enough. I average 10-15 finished models a year for myself. I have built well over 150 in a few years but of course those were all sold through my business Aardvark Models. We all collect but you and I do build a lot of them too, Marc.
  12. That is fantastic work. I have seen the kit and it is daunting! You get a medal for bravery and a separate one for results!
  13. There are lots of really great resin-casters out there so it pains me  when I see people get burned when their first resin purchase is from one of the not-so-goods. They swear off resin thinking it is all junk. At NNL East I saw the Modelhaus 50 Cad Coupe de Ville and dropped my jaw! That kit is so incredibly nice. I almost pulled my wallet even though I do not build that type of car. The quality of it is astounding. I met Ed Fluck with his Drag City Castings co. and I kept pulling out my wallet . His 36 Willys pickup and 28 Chevy AA/SR were so cool and incredibly well done. Perry's, Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland, Jimmy Flintstone, MCW and others do such nice work. As the Big Styrene companies wither, the resin market is blossoming. It is the wave of the future and the poor performers will eventually tire of attempting to compete. I just feel bad for those who got burned by them. One other point I want to make is that these brouhahas don't come out of nowhere. How many on-line tirades have you seen about any other resin casters? Has anyone ever heard anyone trash talk Modelhaus???? There has been a lot of chatter about A/FX who kind of disappeared and the current subject. Anyone else? That is most telling.
  14. Too bad the Norseman is at the bottom of the Atlantic. it was on the Andrea Doria when it went down. Scuba, anyone?
  15. These might be earlier than you want- 1915 Model Ts.
  16. How about an Isetta or Messerschmidt DONK. That would be sweet! Three wheeled DONKS. Or how about a Peterbilt DONK 10 Donkey wheels! Shoot me now!!!
  17. I am impressed. It did take more than different decals to make it a different car!
  18. Your Pinto reminds me of a very cool car I saw at the Street Machine Nationals in Des Moines in 1975. It was a Pinto done up as a 4WD with a blown 351 Cleveland motor in it. This was before everybody and their mother threw different bodies on truck and Jeep chassis. That and it was really well screwed together and he put on an impressive hillclimb demo in the campground with all 4 wheels spewing grass and dirt and the motor screaming. Resume your regular scheduled programming.....
  19. What are we going to do with you, young man?
  20. Where did you get that giant dime? Kidding. Impressive work!
  21. Did all of you know that there are 6 mercedes 500 - 540K kits in 1/24-25(I will be magnaminous and call Monogram's Monster 540s as 1/24 even though they are about 1/22) out and they are all of different cars! It's a miracle! I had these saved off from somewhere. Car for sale, I think.
  22. I soak the resin parts in prep-sol for a bit and mount them up. I always precoat my parts before sending them to the plater. It really helps. JUst lay on a nice glossy coat of clear enamel or lacquer.
  23. There actually was one P4 driven on the street. Dino Martin (Dean's son) had one painted yellow with blue wheels(YES) the roof was open and it had 4 glasspacks to try to quiet it down. There was a feature on the car in an old issue of Motor Trend from the late 60s.
