What did you see on the road today?
Modelmartin replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I once saw some broken chunks of granite counter top laying in the center of the Freeway! About 3 miles later I passed the guy hauling the rest of the counter to the job site. He didn't appear to know that about a third of it was broken off and laying on the highway. Ooops. -
Clear body kits
Modelmartin replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Esci also did the BMW M1 and several others in clear, possibly the 320 Gr. 5 and the Lancia. Didn't AMT have a clear hood on the 37 Chevy? I was talking to Jim Keeler once, he mentioned that one evening at Revell they ran about a dozen Mickey Thompson Challengers in clear! Imagine finding one of those now! I asked - he didn't have any of them. -

Silly to an extreme! What's next? Virtual breathing? -
I would not hold my breath for anything to happen. It was a cool car and the golden memeories are just that - memories. It sounds like Mr. Scott is wistful for better times.

And the U.S. Postal service wonders why they are losing money.

UPS, FedEx and any other outfits offering package delivery would go bankrupt instantly if they were required to deliver a letter anywhere in the United states for 45 cents! I have had consistently excellent results with the USPS and nothing but hassles with UPS and Fedex. -
Show me your cars with wings
Modelmartin replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wing and a propeller and it isn't an airplane! Front drive! No wing but it is the same meme. Rear drive. -

Friday as I was leaving work I saw this in the parking lot. It belongs to one of the design engineers in the automation group. He enjoys the retro technology. It does have tubular hydraulic shocks on it. It's a very nice driver and not a concours car. -
and now you know what they.re really for

I always thought the wings were for taller guys pushing the cars when they broke down. Some of them look like handles on shopping carts. -

The hot set-up was air-shocks with those shackles! -

Last Saturday on a bicycle ride I was stopped at a light waiting to cross a busy state highway and a line-up of cars was waiting to turn left off the highway. It included 2 Lambos, 1 Ferrari, 1 911, 2 Vipers, a late model Vette and some poor schmoe at the back of the line with a 90s Camaro! I have no clue what they were up to but it was in a wealthy area of town. -

On my way home from a friends house I saw a 67 camaro convertible, nicely resto-modded, and a stock 64 Ford Galaxie convertible.
