  1. Ted is a member of our club and there is a whole lot more to the story which I will not elaborate on. I wouldn't jump to conclusions about Minneapolis.
  2. It comes with the top molded on and it also comes with a modified interior tub.
  3. Hey! Spell the guy's name right! Penski sounds Polish! It's Penske with an E. Sheesh. They should have sold all of GM to Roger. If I recollect correctly, he turned Detroit Diesel around and paid it off in a few years. He knows how to run things and puts good people in the right places to get things done properly!
  4. That is looking very good, Wayne. It's tough to capture the "Look" and have all of the detail properly stuffed inside, too. I am impressed.
  5. This one was started by Joel Dirnberger and I am wrapping it up and will have kits available after a bit. There will be a kit to fit on the stock T fenders and one will be for a cycle-fendered version. You will need an AMT T kit to complete. The disc steel wheels will be available separately. Both versions will have the convert top in it.
  6. I have to build one of my own once in a while so here it is. Paint is Tamiya metallic blues. I used the Crazy Modeler photoetch detail set on it. The wheels are.... get ready for this.... "Fabulous Various" from Aoshima. I got them through Hobbylink Japan (hlj.com). It was a fun build and gets a few looks even though it is a very simple and easy to build model.
  7. Good car chase in The Bourne Conspiracy - with a Mini!! Yay, Mini!
  8. Gee! Number 66! Do you think this may have been an ill-fated Jim hall "Chapparal" project???? Inquiring minds want to know!
  9. The more things change the more they stay the same. I have been semi-following F1 for some time and can remember when Jean-Marie Balestre was the devil incarnate. Everyone is probably nostalgic to have him back! I say suspend all the rules except crash protection and see what happens!
  10. AMT really went off the deep end with that kit! Today there is something perversely fun and amusing about it. Back in the day I wouldn't have been caught dead with a kit like that in my posession. It looks like you are ahving fun with it and that's cool.
  11. The Jimmy Flintstone was called the Rareflow. It was designed by Ed Newton of Big Daddy Ed Roth fame. I made the pattern for Jimmy from Ed's drawings. Needless to say it isn't remotely close to being stock. Hot Wheels did a 1/64th of it. I think an AirFlow in 1/24-5 would be great. I may have to locate one of those Franklin Mints and let it fall into my bucket of rubber.
  12. That is very Virtue-ous of you Jim! Seriously though, that couldn't have been a hard build for a guy like you. Tedious, I would believe. Really seriously, though. That is one of the finest model cars I have ever seen and I have seen a lot over the years including Wingroves, Manuel Olive-Sans, etc. To quote Bill Murray in one of his movies," I have seen better.....but not many."
  13. I will be there!
  14. Actually, the French cut them up just as much as we do if not more!
  15. Silly me! I did not click on the video. I would guess they thought the Ferrari enthusiasts would cry, baby, cry over one of theirs being mated with a lowly duck! Anyway, it seems that half of the vids on youtube come with some sort of sound track dubbed on. Most of it is this weird Euro-pop sounding stuff. It's really annoying.
  16. There is good music and bad music in every generation. There are some great young talents out there today and some of the singers and musicians of many generations ago were awesome. I think with time we only remember the good ones and forget the bad which sort of distorts our perspectives. I think they call it nostalgia. Anyway in trying to figure out what Harry was talking about I came across Janis' 356. Very cool! Definitely better than the Beatles Rolls Royce.
  17. So tell me - just what does it have to do with it?? I looked up the lyrics and can't make the conceptual leap required. Please inform.
  18. There are lots of great sounding engines out there but here is my fave! The Renault whistle could be the pop-off valve but I vote for the brakes.
  19. Did someone say 2CV gasser? This is an altered but it's close enough! Here are some cool 2CV pics from the 'net. One needs a proper pacecar for a Duck race! And just to prove that there is always something weirder and cooler coming down the road, I present the Iso Isetta Mille Miglia entry!
  20. Very nice work and a very interesting subject. It's models like this that I love seeing and remembering. Thanks for sharing.
  21. The depot hack and the C-cab panels were different tooling and had real crappy fenders and artillery wheels. The 27 touring is a pretty decent kit. The ERTL buyers choice kits pictured didn't have either the chopped or stock height coupe bodies in them. Hard to find but Aurora did a 21 T that was actually somewhat more nicely detailed than the AMT Trophy series kit. It was a double kit with a T hotrod that was really weird.
  22. A gorilla walks into a bar and sits down on a barstool. The bartender is pretty shocked to see this and asks his boss what to do. The boss says," Ask him what he wants to drink". The bartender approaches the Gorilla and asks him what he wants to drink. The gorilla says, " I'll have a beer." The bartender goes back to his boss and says," he wants a beer. What should I do?" The boss tells him to give the gorilla a beer. He gives the gorilla a beer. The gorilla finishes it and gives the bartender a twenty dollar bill. The bartender takes the bill and goes back to his boss, "he gave me a twenty. What should I do?" The boss says," gorillas aren't too bright. Why don't you just give him two dollar bills back". The bartender does just that. The gorilla looks confused and sits on the stool for a while. Finally the bartender's curiosity gets the better of him and he says to the gorilla, " You know we don't get many gorillas coming in here". The gorilla says,"at $18.00 a beer, I can see why!" ba-DA-boom
  23. Wow! You will be getting a lot of advice and a lot of conflicting advice and probably a few offers! My advice is to sell on Ebay because everything will rise to to it's actual value before it is sold. I don't think you need to know the values yourself beforehand. Older kits (manufactured before 1980 or so, NOT pre-1980 cars) should be sold individually if possible because typically they are more valuable. Newer kits can be grouped by type of car. Don't try to sell "variety packs". Race cars with racecars, hot rods with hotrods, Fords, Chevies, etc. Some people will sell an entire collection on Ebay but you wil not get as much for it, but it would save time. Ebay will be the easiest and best way to sell, in my opinion. Good luck!
